qDizzle32ParticipantAs a UCLA fan this past year, after all the times I watched “Mr Slo-Mo” play, I realized that he was very overrated in high school. His nickname Mr Slo Mo really does fit him because he’s very stoppable when he tries to attack the basket. He’s also very lazy on defense. Although I could at least see him making the NBA as a second round pick and as a 3-4 year player at UCLA. Like I said before, high school rankings are very overrated. In 2008 Samardo Samuels was ranked #2, JaMychal Green was #6. Paul George and Damian Lillard weren’t even ranked so that’s only one of many examples proving why those HS rankings aren’t so accurate after all.

jjbutler73ParticipantBut he’s not a 1 or a 4. He’s very capable of playing the 3 and the 2.

SiggyParticipantWhatever role he plays offensively has nothing to do with his position. Where his position matters is defensively. Given his poor lateral quickness and overall foot speed, combined with his exceptional length (near 7’3 wingspan) and 235 lb frame that could conceivably add more weight, I think his best position defensively is PF.
I’d like to see how he transforms his body after this off-season, if he does at all.

goldie92689ParticipantMore Boris Diaw than Billy O, Kyle is a special rebounder

llperezIt’s just really hard to evaluate Kyle right now. It’s clear he was nowhere near a 1 and done prospect because he has a lot of things to work on. Buts it’s also too early to call him a flop. He is unique and he does so many things well that the potential is high, but he has to get stronger and improve his shooting and show more mental toughness. I see him as a sf.

llperezA guy I compare Him too is tayshaun prince. Prince was a mcdonalds all-American who at 6-9 played on the perimeter in highschool but only put up 6 points and 4 rebounds as a freshman, numbers that Kyle eclipsed by a good margin last year. It could take Kyle 3-4 years of college much like prince.

ThepessimestParticipantInitially I thought he was vastly over-rated but then I started to appreciate what he brings to the table. He’s 6’9 and can handle it and sees the floor. He is really smart. He lacks athleticism and range on a jump shot but those are things he can improve upon. His body looked like he never touched a weight room and simply by doing plyometrics he will gain more explosion and strength. If he adds strength and quickness at the very least he will be a terror this year. He is extremely skilled. I think he will have a really good year this year.

JoeWolf1He’s got a pretty unique skillset, and I think if he continues to hone his game in college, he can be a late 1st rounder. We never saw Royce White until his Jr. year, and although he’s not the bulldozer strength wise White is ( maybe he’ll really hit the gym by his Jr year), they have a lot of similarities and a 4 that can pass the ball and rack up assists is pretty intriguing.
He kind of reminds me of what I’d imagine Royce White playing like as a Freshman, I think he has some potential to get better, and like Siggy said, I think he’ll eventually move more toward the 4 position, but the guy racked up 3.5 apg with a guy who was in the top 10 in the nation in assists running the point. If he gets in better shape and continues to hone his game, I could see him being a 15/10/5 college player. That’s pretty special, even if he’s not the most athletic guy on the planet.

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantLLprez is right. I’ve watched just about every PaC 12 game and Anderson is a weird player to evaluate unlike just about any other player ever. Their has been others with his skill set but none have been as slow, bad shooting, low athletic ability. He is a lot like Boris Diaw but he’s slower. His basketball IQ is high and the combination of that and his skill gets him into the lane. The problem is where to put him on defense once he gets into the NBA. Basically you will have to hide him. With that said there are worst defenders that have made it to the NBA

Mr. 19134ParticipantKyle Anderson will explode as a sophomore and I could see UCLA building there offense around him and his talents. He’s a very hard worker who trains with the same trainers as Kyrie and MKG. His athleticism will improve and he’s already stronger then given credit for. His anticipation and IQ make up for his lack of foot speed. Look at Kyle Korver who became a good team defender despite being the most unathletic wing in the league.
Athleticism aside Anderson got really good phydical attributes. He’s nearly 6’10 in shoes with a 7’3 wingspan and a 9’0 standing reach and he already weighs 235 plus his body is still maturing.
Look for Anderson to be in contentiin for PAC 12 POY whike averaging 17ppg 11 rpg 4apg and 2spg he getd his hands on a lot of balls on defense.
