Moon RiverParticipantI am a fan of Kobe and love the SI article (link to it is already on the site). But was shocked to learn that Spike wanted him for the role of Jesus Shuttlesworth in He Got Game. Is this common knowledge? I have never heard of that.
Laker nation needs you Kobe, but take your time and come back 100%.

TarHeelRavenParticipantI wonder if Spike told Kobe about the threesome with the white girls…Kobe loves himself some white women so he couldn’t have passed that role up if he had known about that.

Moon RiverParticipantIs that based purely on the Denver “situation” from 2003 or do you have other info?

Sewok15ParticipantThe role was initially offered to Allen Iverson. After that Spike went to Kobe and eventually Ray Allen. I wouldn’t call it common knowledge but the story has been out there for a while. He Got Game has been out for 15 years and it is still the only thing I like about Spike Lee.

Lotto StudParticipantYou mean Stephon Marbury?

Sewok15ParticipantNo the movie is loosely based on the recruitment of Marbury but it was first offered to AI.
“Spike Lee lost respect for him when he turned down his invitation to star in the film He Got Game (1998). As a very pointed move, Lee cast former collegiate rival Ray Allen in the part.”
