I'm not afan of Kobe at all but I have to admire his toughness, will to win, durability, and his work ethic all 4 are incredible.

looks like they're monitoring

looks like they're monitoring his minutes while they have the lead but he's definitely leading by example. pau might be back on monday. i don't think anyone wants to face the lakers in the playoffs with the momentum they have atm

rotoworld's report on

rotoworld's report on kobe

The Lakers said that Kobe Bryant (ankle) will not play in the second half of Friday's game against the Pacers.
He didn't play at all in the second quarter, which sent up a red flag since he averages 7.1 minutes per game on the season. Even though he wasn't aggressive on either end of the floor, Kobe gets a ton of credit for suiting up in the game against one of the best teams in the league. He played the entire first quarter and failed to score with one board and two assists. Jodie Meeks will start the second half and Kobe's status is up

can't blame the man for trying

He tried, but its pretty

He tried, but its pretty clear he is not fully ready to come back yet, which is bad news for this Lakers team. They aren't good enough to win games vs good teams without him.

Not buying it

MY OPINION... He only played not take a blow to his reputation. If he would've sat out, It wouldve allowed people to question him a little bit SIMPLY because he told Dwight to play through pain. Im not saying Kobe isnt tough because the entire world knows he's one of the toughest athletes ever and has played through several injuries.

The point I'm trying to make is he doesn't deserve credit and praise for playing tonight. It was the same thing Dwight was doing but he got called a crybaby for it and never got credit for playing through his shoulder. With Kobe, he only played one qtr and didnt really do anything, but everyone's still going as if he just did something special. I know a lot of youknow exactly what I mean, but I doubt if anybody admits it.

yeah he did sh.i.t tonight

yeah he did sh.i.t tonight but if you look beyond the numbers.. i feel like he just displayed his leadership. he wants to win, he wants to make it to the playoffs and he showed how much heart he has be attempting to give it a go.

i doubt he played just to save his rep.. he doesn't need to prove anything in that sort, he has multiple championships.

the lakers are up by 4 with 14.6 seconds left.. i see it as a bigger moral booster than anything.

as of this moment they're up by 6 with 13.9 secs

Im watching Houston vs Minny right now, minny playing solid and if Houston loses that one, they will be only half a game infront of LA for the 7th seed.. I think Houston will end up being the 8th seed and will face the spurs resulting a really quick exit.

@BigChamp12 Were you born

@BigChamp12

Were you born with Kobe hate in your blood? My goodness...

Had Kobe not played, I don't think anybody would've questioned him considering the fact he's played through most of his injuries.

Kobe playing had nothing to do with what he did or didn't tell Dwight. He played because every game is important for the Lakers. He shouldn't have been out there. He gave it a go though for 12 minutes and it wasn't happening for him, so he sat out the rest of the game.

I don't think him playing was anything special, but I think it does send a message to the rest of his team.

I didnt neg you

The neg was already there lol, well answer this question. Would you say Dwight playing through injuries sent a message to the team also?

And I dont hate Kobe, I hate he gets ALL THE CREDIT. That's it. I thhink he's the closest thing to MJ that we'll ever see, but I think sometimes LA wins despite his play.

Not

Not saying he really had to prove anything, but to give his earlier comments on Dwight some credibility. You dont look too good when you tell someone to play through an injury, and then you font play when you get injured yourself. Thats what i mean. But Im glad they won without him, so people can see that its just not Kobe winning these games. As great as he is and as clutch as he is, by shooting them into games, he's also good at shooting them out of games. I can see ESPN's headlines now "Kobe Leads LA to Victory from Bench" or "Kobe Inspires Lakers to Win for Him"
My only problem with Kobe is he gets credit when they win. His teammates get blamed when they lose.

Regardless of if Kobe played

Regardless of if Kobe played or not, I think he already has credibility due to playing through tough injuries for years. When Kobe doesn't play, people think, "Wow... He must be really hurt." Kobe had the right to establish urgency with Dwight. Dwight was cleared by doctors to play. There's a difference between playing with pain and playing hurt. Dwight was in pain. Tonight, Kobe was hurt.

And IMO, I think Dwight coming back early from back surgery and playing through his shoulder injury does send a positive message to the team, the organization, etc. You have to think though... Dwight hasn't been popular in the media. He's not getting a lot of great press due to how badly he's been in the PR department.

I think that Kobe does get blame. I think he's gotten more blame than Jim Buss, Mike D'Antoni, Dwight Howard, Steve Nash and Pau Gasol this season.
