http://offthedribble.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/09/28/knicks-appear-closer-to-signing-rasheed-wallace/ the Knicks are on the verge of signing Rasheed Wallace. Thoughts?

I like it. He communicates on defense and can still defend in the low post. IF he gets in good shape, this will benefit the Knicks big time.

I like this pick up a lot.

Me too. With STAT, chandler, camby, and now Wallace, the Knicks are getting that intimidating mean streak they had in the 90’s back

Plus Kurt Thomas, a real goons goon! I am all for literally beating the crap out of Miami…I soooo long for those days when no lay ups was the mantra at the worlds most famous

You forgot another young star they signed this year.  The 35 year old Pablo Prigioni!

My last memory of Sheed will be him to tired to contribute in the closing minutes of Game 7 of the NBA finals, and about half a hundred ill advised three point shots…not exactly the man I would want on my team.

like i said in the last post about rasheed signing with the knicks, he’ll gaurd kg and help contain bynum he wont play much minutes but he’ll be good defensively for the knicks. definitely a good signing. the knicks have as much chance as beating the heats as any team they’re gonna surprise people this year. even bosh said the knicks are falling under the radar because they are better then people think. it all falls on melo and amare .

Definitely worth rollin’ the dice on Sheed… If he’s Sheed good for 15 min/game, that’s all they need. Rasheed Wallace is one of those guys I just hated watching- and then grew on me. I would like to see a scrimage practice between the Knicks starters and their reserves… prolly go either way. Knicks have the talent but can they put it together?

The net-net is that it’s a good signing. He will have to take a minimal amount of shots which I think he’ll be ok doing.

I hope there’s a game where he calls out Melo for his defensive effort, or lack thereof. He nevers moves his feet.

Wow, another blast from the past. This is now ridiculous with the old guys on this team. I can’t wait to watch and see if all these old guys can really compete. Kidd and Camby were good last season. Maybe they can keep it up. I saw some video of Sheed awhile back and while he was dunking in rec league game he looked very stout. Seemed at least 25 pounds above his old playing weight. If he and Felton can’t take that weight off the Knicks are going to be kind of funny looking next season. With Melo they will be Team Chubby.

You have not seen him play in neasrly 3 years… how could you possibly think he could still defend the post?

    Code word DMF.

He didn’t get any dumber in that time, and the league has plenty of young big men with no clue who can simply be outsmarted.

Also, team defense is mental. When you look at the froncourt of Tyson Chandler, Marcus Camby, Kurt Thomas, and Rasheed Wallace, you cannot argue that they are going be dumb up front. Melo played all summer, so it is not as if he is going to play the first couple months with a belly (maybe/probably Sheed and Kurt Thomas). Anthony will be better equipped to at least stay awake at that end. Ronnie Brewer is a very good defender, and I think there is a chance he might end up being their starting 2-guard. They are going to look like a Larry Brown-mentored team, because that is where Woodson came from.

When a guy like Sheed comes back, you know he’s ready, he could’ve joined the Heat for their playoff run in April but decided not to, I don’t think he’ll be very offensively but his defense and leadership will be invaluable. Remember, he’s not a cancer or anything, just a little over emotional when it comes to techs, and yes I am predicting a recordsetting TPM(Techs Per Minute) from Sheed, considering the new rule that has players on a shoter leash that was put into place right after he retired.

Personally, IMO, with a HEALTHY Iman Shumpert, the Knicks can jump up to the second spot in the East. If you look at it, they haven’t really havent had many games where there whole team was healthy. Since the signing of Melo, different key players have always been innjured. Melo, then Amare, then Lin, then Shump. Give this team a chance to play together. I think they can be great. IMO
