NBADraft.net posted the idea of a trade between the grizzlies and the knicks in their recent mock draft analysis. A trade of David Lee and the 8 pick for the number 2 pick would b great for both teams. The knicks would draft Rubio and this would help in two ways. 1st off, i think he would strive in d’Antoni’s system and 2nd, he would attract a lot more fans to the knicks huge fan base. But i think the grizzlies would get the better end of this deal. They will still be able to draft a good point guard (Jrue Holiday, Johnny Flynn, Ty Lawson, possibly Brandon Jennings, Eric Maynor, etc.) Imagine this lineup:

    PG- Connely or 8th pick
    SG- Mayo
    SF- Gay
    PF- Lee
    C- Gasol

That is a STACKED young team and i believe they will still have some cap space to sign some bench players, i.e Drew Gooden or Rasheed Wallace to make a strong and deep front court or a wing. IMO, this could make them one of the Top 6 teams in the West

What do you guys think about this trade?

How does that help the Griz from all the reports they want to get better defensively from all the reports that I have read, David Lee is softer than Gasol on defense and I doubt he wants to go to memphis.

I don’t think Lee has a no-trade clause in his contract, so him not wanting to go to Memphis is moot.

I do agree with you though. Memphis’ owner (who won’t let the GM blow his nose without asking) has said he wants to get tougher on Defense. Lee can play adequate D, but not exactly what I would call tough.

I just don’t see Lee going to Memphis. You never know…stranger things have happened before

Hello, Lee is an unrestricted free agent. He can go anywhere he wants.
