First off I have to say, Melo has been outstanding, minus the cleveland game. Great to see him dominating after getting way to much hate over the past few months. Bonafide star in the league, dynamic scorer, and underrated passer and rebounder. It was only a month ago people were demanding he be traded, or that his role change to a sixth man??!?? Career 25 point scorer who has NEVER missed the playoffs.

With Amar’e back (hopefully healthy enough to actually play this postseason) the knicks look dangerous. Unfortunately it looks like they’ll see Miami in the first round. Any thoughts on the matchup/knicks playoff hopes?

Knicks can beat the Heat in a 7 game series, it is very possible.  If Melo continues his attack, then I can see Knicks in a classic 7 game series.  BUT if Melo is limited because the Knicks want to work other people in the offense the Heat could sweep the Knicks.  With that being said as a Knicks fan I will be rooting for the Bobcats to beat the Magic and for us to win out so we can get that 6th seed!!!

its very nice to see a Miami-New York match-up as they did during the 90’s when Ewing and Mourning would go at it. do i see new york winning over the heat? like most people, i dont. melo is a great scorer and woodson is an favored coach of his since he gets the ball and freedom to do whatever he wants with it most of the time. having said that, i doubt the knicks will try to get more people in the offense as they are right now. if anything, they might give melo the ball even more.

I’d like to see the Knicks beat the Heat, but we all know Miami will turn the switch and become a better team when the playoffs start.  It may not be good enough to win the Championship, like last year, but the Heat team you’ll see on the court in the playoffs will be better than the one you see closing out the season.

I’m not a knicks fan so no bias in my opinion but I been saying that Knicks can beat the heat bcuz they have two things that heat lack point guard n a center. But for the Knicks to pull off the tough series STAT has to play like he did for the suns where he mixed in dunks post ups and his jumpshot.

Amare isnt the same player he was 2 years ago. His body is falling apart. Can the NYK beat the Heat? Yes, but I dont think it will happen

I am definitely not a Heat fan, but as JoeWolf eluded to, that team will turn it way up when the playoffs start, especially in a first round match-up against a good Knicks team. They know the killing they will get if they were to lose in the first round. I expect it to be over in five games with LeBron putting on a show.

    That was hard to write.

The Knicks have a shot at beating the heat.  I think Melo will neutralize Lebron.  The Key is Stat vs Bosh. If Stat can win that battle the Knicks ahve a shot.  I think Dwade has an advantage but with shumpert and fields focusing on him mayyyyybe they can slow him down for a game or 2, specially knowing Chandler is there to protect the rim.  Now with Novak and Jr Smith capable of having big games I think the Knicks do have a shot againt them.  They have to play near perfect but impossible is nothing!

As far as Melo and Amare goes, I been sayin it since before the trade…if the Knicks get Melo it should be his team.   Stat has always had injury problems, has been a poor rebounder and defender.  But his value when he came to NY was VERY high specially with the swag he brought and put them back on the map.  That being said, it was the perfect time to trade him for Dhoward…when melo came.

Or imagine if the Knicks amniestied Stat instead of Billups.  Billups would be coming off the books and you wouldn’t be left with Stat’s 3 years and 2 bad knees.  Instead you could make a run for Drama Howard and put him next to melo which is an even better fit for the team.  His knees are what is causing his back problems and its inevitable he gets more lower back problems before he retires.

This first round matchup will be great for the NBA. It will get people interested in the playoff’s at the start. Might get the highest ratings of any first round playoff series ever. If it’s competitive (which it very well could be) that could get very exciting. The Knicks definitely have a chance. Obviously the money is on the Heat but who no one really knows what the Knicks are capable of at this point. Could get very interesting.
