6 ft 5 in 220 Lb and plays SG

He led New Zealand to victory in the FIBA Oceania Championship 2009, beating Australia 177-162 on aggregate, after the two-match tie was drawn 1-1 [11]. Penney was influential in both games, with 23 points and 4 assists in Game 1, and a virtuoso 24-point, 7-rebound and 10-assist performance in Game 2.

I don’t understand why he hasn’t been given a chance in the NBA.He was named first-team All-Big Ten during his junior and senior seasons and an honorable mention All-American during his senior season, where he averaged 16.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

Penney played in the 2000 Final Four and formed a backcourt duo with one-time NBA all star Devin Harris.

In the 2010 NBA D-League playoffs Penney averaged 21.3 points 4.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game for the Skyforce.

He also was the MVP in the ANBL (Australian National Basketball League).

Do any of you think he should be given a chance. He maybe 29 but he still got time.

I have seen his games in the ANBL. I definately think he has the talent to play in the Nba.
He is a very good 3point shooter and also has a strong passing and driving game.
Id compare him to JJ Redick in the nba

I also think they play the same type of game.
The few games he played in the NBA don’t really count because he wasn’t given enough time to show anything.

Definately watch out for him in the World Champs. New Zealand has another guy called Rob Loe who will be a Freshman at St Louis.

Pledger scored16 points and grabbing six rebounds in Game 1 in a narrow loss to Australia before adding 15 points and a game-high 13 rebounds in a New Zealand Game 2 victory that gave the Tall Blacks their third Oceania Championship.
He was competing against Nathan Jawai who couldn’t handle Pledger. Nathan Jawai doesn’t deserve a NBA contract just yet.

Hes went undrafted a couple of years ago. He is Now playing in Spain. He is 6 foot 9 very long arms, good athlete, great shooter, great defender because of his long arms and gets great position rebounding. He is a potential star in the World Champs if he is on his game. I would Compare him to a more athletic Mike Dunleavy or Mike Miller type

I’m not sure about Alex Pledger in the Nba. I think Craig Bradshaw is alot better

    Finally some Kiwis here!

Personally I reckon Kirk has a slim chance of making an NBA roster, his stints with Miami and the Clippers were pretty short lived, but you never know could make it. I watched Rob Loe when he played with Westlake Boys High, and he straight dominated.

Still kinda disappointed that Pero Cameron never made an NBA team.
