The Kings have Suspended rookie center ,after saturday’s lost to the Thunder..The length of the suspension is unknown at the moment..But Cousins wont make the trip to Phoenix..Cousins and forward Donte Green had to be separated in the locker room..According to several sources Cousins was visibly upset with Tyreke Evans decision to take a 3 pointer, when he was wide open..Cousins felt that the Kings coaches & players should’ve been frustrated with the outcome of the game and the decision to fire up the 3…

He’s just mad because he didn’t get to in-bound the ball.

He’s showing improvement when it comes to basketball, but it seems his he isn’t able to calm himself down. Still, he had a point, I just watched all the highlights. I haven’t the slightest clue why Tyreke fired a 3. Its a shame that team has potential, and now there are already disputes amongst them. I heard Reke and Westpaul got into it like a few days or something ago. Over all thats bad. Its youth man, its going to take some time, and with more draft picks it will get even harder to get them clicking.

By the way, I won’t dismiss cousins behaviour, but I will say this. It is known he’s got passion for the game and just wants to win. Regardless if its in his place to say it or not, by watching some of the Kings highlights lately, Reke has very bad decision making. Which supports my theory further. They need a pure point guard to run the offense. Because the Kings two stars Cousins and Reke, neither of them are fit to lead that team.

I agree with Kayjay. I was actually watching the Oklahoma City/Sacramento game and I couldn’t believe that Tyreke would go for the 3 for the wn. That was a selfish play on his part when they were down by two and could went for a more higher percentage shot. I don’t blame Cousins for being frustrated at all but I also don’t excuse that kind of behaviour. Kevin Durant’s face after the Evans 3 basically summed up the season for the Kings. He was even thinking wth was this Evans guy thinking. I wouldn’t even do that lol. That’s what separated the growth of Kevin Durant in his sophomore to the growth of Evans in his sophomore season. If people can recall, Oklahoma City in Durant’s second year were as bad if not worse than the Kings but Durant did not show his frustrations on the court and played every game and was a team player and team leader. Something Evans has yet probably will never figure out in the years to come.

Cousins has all the talent in the world to become great, just needs to calm down, i think he has a good work ethic and is highly motivated to win, thus the frustration about the losing, it is probably the first losing team he’s ever been on, but his behaviour needs to improve, unfortauntely to the kings, i only see this happening if he gets traded to a team with veteran presence so he can have a fresh start.

Cousins is refusing the medicine so to speak, he is refusing to get used to losing. Alot of people are going to bash him as much as they can but this is the type of player you want on your team. Watch the highlights, the final play, first of all Tyreke Evans could easily blow by Harden and have a higher percentage shot, it seemed lke Evans was just done for the day and wanted the game to end there. After the shot he was all smiles, and did not seem dissapointed by the outcome one bit, neither did most of his teammates. During that play Cousins "knew" an offensive rebound would be available and worked extremely hard to try to get it, but Collison basically faced up nose to nose with Cousins and pushed his chest to box him out. That would piss me off too. On top of that, Im sur his teammates, coach and assitants were extremely casual in the lockeroom. the thing is Cousins tries to be a leader, he tries to inspire, he just doesnt know how and it comes off as a negative thing because he probally does it in a aggressive, dimeanoring, or threatning way. It seems Evans is used to losing, and Cousins is doing everything he can to change that.

I’m going to play both sides here, Westphal has to tell Tyreke that that wasnt the right shot and btw wtf is up with Evans, he’s regressed from last year, was he not working on his game over the summer?

Maybe Cousins is just speaking whats on everybody’s mind that Evans is a ball hog and a shitty volume shooter

The other side is that Cousins needs to get his emotions in check or he’ll just alienate his teammates

Its Evans shot to take regardless of what Cousins thinks. Evans just has too learn how to shoot and what shots to take at what moments.

I have to say that I am disappointed with Cousins on this one. He was struggling for most of the game, especially with Collison on him, and was shooting very poorly. This was the first time in a while that you could tell he was very frustrated with how he was doing, and that must have gotten to him for the Kings to kick him off the plane and suspend him a minimum of three games. This was Tyreke’s decision to make and it was not a terrible one, he was shooting fairly well and only had 5.5 sec to decide, Cousins had terrible position and Casspi ran his man over in the same area as Cousins, so had he gotten the ball they would have doubled him right away. The Kings played hard and what really lost them the game was missed free throws and turnovers, not Donte’s decision to give it to Evans instead of Cousins. I feel that this was the correct way for the Kings to respond and hopefully Cousins gets the message.

Yeah Cousins was pissed after Evans took that shot lol. It was a bad shot selection by Evans, who isn’t exactly a great 3-point shooter anyway. I would’ve been upset with that shot too, but Cousins really flipped out.

Cousins is even more talented then I thought and I honestly think he is the best player in this class Wall included.  The guy can do it all, but he is a loose cannon.  He kinda reminds me of Rodman but a more violent version.  He does want to win and i think if he were on a winning team he wouldn’t be having all these problems.  But they said he was kicked out of practice earlier in the year because everytime coach tells him to do something he asks why.  I still love Cousins as a player but he is on a fast track to flame out fast.

There has to be more to the story for the Kings to suspend him because we all know that they’re best chances of winning is with him on the court.

I also wanted to mention that Reke did not take a bad shot.  If you watched the game you saw Harden give him the 3 so Evans stepped in and had a wide open look that fell only an inch short of being the game winner.  The shot was on money and it was a good look just a few inches short as it bounced off the front of the rim.  Cousins also seemed to be extra mad because of how Collison boxed him out i thought that was a borderline foul like Collison faced Cousins and was basically just pushing him away from the basket.  I have never saw that before and did not know you were allowed to get away with it.

In no way do I condone Cousins for getting into an alledged scrap with Donte Greene who had nothing to do with Tyreke Evans’s shot choice. But Cousins does seem as if he wants to win and Evans smiling after missing the 3 pointer maybe tells us a little about his character as well.

Counsins was averaging 17ppg and 11rpg through the last 5 games according to ESPN so he is producing on court but this is now maybe 3 incidents this season so far and canny opposition players will play on this throughout his career.

I dont think Cuz was mad Evans was the one with the ball down the stretch. I think Cousins knows Evans skill, and his abillity to drive dish, drive pull up, drive floater, drive layup and thats something noone in the NBA an really defend. If somebody helps then Cousins or a shooter is wide open and there was plenty of time to make that happen. Harden played off for a reason, the reason is his team, his coach and assistants worked as a team and decided to entice Evans with a shot. Evans fell into the trap and thats why OKC is a winning team and the KINGS arent. I remember my old coach telling me when someone forces you right you wanna go left, if they foce you left you wanna go right, if they play off you wanna drive into their body, because there is always a reason they are doing that. The defender should be uncomfortabe with your actions not the other way around.

If the Thunder enticed Evans to shot the three then it was a good call by their Head Coach, if it had gone wrong then he’d have gone from hero to zero.

I agree with him and I been saying for a while the team will be most successful running the O through him. He needs to control his emotions. I have always loved his talent, but none of this surprises me we knew he would be like this and the team should have known too. O has to run through the big man not the slashing 2 guard.

Its not a good thing for a player with anger problems like him to be a rookie. He doesn’t seem to wanna get the rookie treatment that all rookies get or the getting put down like all rookies get ( was told he has had a couple behind the scenes incidents where he has lashed out over vets giving him the rookie treatment)  I think eventually he will mature like Rasheed Wallace did(although he didn’t mature that much)

There was plenty of time for drive and dish, or a drive and shoot. I don’t know about you, but very rarely do most NBA players go for the win when they can go for a much higher percentage shot. Regardless if he was baited or had a good look, there was no reason for him to completely dismiss the fact he had other teamates on the floor. Like I said, Cousins anger was an overreaction, but don’t blame the guy for wanting to win. Several coaches would love to get the chance to coach someone like Demarcus Cousins. You’d know he would need some improvement on off court red flags, but other than that, you’d be dealing with serious talent and a passion for the game.

"I also wanted to mention that Reke did not take a bad shot."

It was a bad shot. Evans isn’t a good 3-point shooter, and just because he was given room (he was given room because he can’t shoot very good, by the way) doesn’t mean it is smart to take that shot. That’s just like Rondo having the ball at the 3-point line and shooting it in the final seconds of a game because his man sagged off of him. Not a smart play. And to make matters worse, they were down by 2, so they didn’t have to go for the 3. And Cousins was open too for a more high percentage shot.

Ur right Evans is not a good 3 point shooter but he was WIDE OPEN.  You have to be able to hit that shot Harden was like 5 feet away from him.  And Cousins was not open.  Collison front faced him and blocked him like an offensive lineman.

Also right now the Kings will never win running the whole game thru Cousins because he’s just not ready for that kidn of work load.  Yes he is putting up amazing numbers but he is equally putting up amazing turnover and foul numbers while not always hustling on defense.  At times he remind me of a 6’11 version of Antione Walker.  And some games he just shoots way too many jumpers.  Notice the Kings won their only game without Cousins playing this season.  Stats don’t always translate to wins.

Glad to see him back tho.

Evans has always put up horrible Turnover numbers and they run the game through him… Kings need to find a way to focus their talent and westphal just isnt going to be the one to get it done, he has proved that this year. If they can get a true floor general like Kyrie Irving (I hope they dont GO RAPS!!!), and a good leader for a coach that these young players respect, fear, and admire then the rest of the league is in trouble.
