    According to rivals.com,
#4 overall recruit Khem Birch visited Pitt this past weekend. He says that it was his best visit yet, and it was a 10 out of 10.
I don’t know much about him. How good is he? What is his game like? Where is he likely to end up?

I gotta re-upload this, I used Flash for the first time but Windows Media Video uses more of the screen then Flash, also I made grammar mistakes.

ESPN compare him to Kenyon Martin pre injuries, he seems to be a great athlete and his defensive game is ahead of his offence at the moment perhaps as you’d expect. Longer term value may well be his defensive game especially as he will hopefully fill out in due course as he is currently below 200lbs, this will aid him inside hugely and if he keeps his current athletic ability then he will be a great floor running big either as a PF or as a C on a more smallball type team.

His defence is way ahead of his offence and it is not even close. If he was an average defender he wouldnt even be Top 150 in his class. The thing that is so intruging is he is only about 190-pounds and he can find a way to shut down guys like Andre Drummond. He has about a 7’5 wingspan at around 6’10. He has a nice frame that seems fillable. If he can somehow gain about 50 pounds in the next 3 years he will be an absolute beast.

Offensively he is limited but has shown huge improvements. His main moves are just limited post moves, but in the open floor while attacking the rim he is extremely dangerous. He is not only long but he can fly which is why he gets comparisons to Amare, and Kenyon. He really needs to develop a mid-range game, and a face up game but it doesnt seem like that will happen anytime soon. His small body also gets pushed around.

Right now he is about at Jarvis Varnardos level minus the experience. That is his downside.

So athletisism of Amare Stoudemire and Kenyon Martin.
Defence of and offence of Jarvis Varnardo.
Along with great IQ, an outstanding motor and good work ethic.

    You get Khem Birch.

He was once listed at about 180lbs I seem to recall so he has added 15lbs or so in the last year and with him being 3 years away from being drafted he has ample time to add more bulk maybe up to 230 to 240lbs in due course as OhCanada states.

Also if he can match up against 250lbs guys like Andre Drummond giving away 50 to 60lbs in weight then imagine how effective he’ll be as he fills out and gets the bulk to really mix it inside with the bulkier frontcourters.

I also like his basket ball IQ as he will not rashly commit to blocks and run up unneccessary fouls but due to his current lack of bulk has to rely on timing and chossing his moment when to commit to the block.
