IndianaBasketballParticipant"I don’t have Ray’s number anymore," Garnett said at the Celtics’ media day Friday. "I’m not trying to communicate. I’m just being honest with everybody in here. … It’s just what it is.
Pressed on why he cut off contact with Allen, Garnett added, "I choose not to. I choose — that’s a choice I personally made. I told you all, I’m very close to Ray. I know his family. I wish nothing but the best for him and his family. I’m just making a choice on my own. That’s all."
Paul Pierce, who along with Allen and Garnett made up the Celtics’ Big Three, was surprised Allen left for Miami.
"I thought we would finish our careers together, me, Kevin, and Ray," Pierce said Friday. "It was very surprising, him going to Miami. But, you know Ray. He’s a grown-up. He has to make a decision that he feels is best for his family, for himself. I wish he could have went to the Clippers if he was going anywhere. But he went to our Eastern Conference rivals. But as you all know, Ray likes to golf. Maybe that factored into his reasoning. Maybe he didn’t like the golfing in Boston in the winter. Who knows?"

I love this. This is the competitiveness I like to see. Say what you want about KG, but you have to love this about him. This is old school type of competitiveness and not this "new school" type of sh*t where everybody wants to be friends.

TyroberParticipantI love it. KG and Pierce are being cry babies and this gives me another reason not to like the Celtics. Go HEAT

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantLast time I checked the celtics almost traded ray to the grizzlies at the trade deadline. I’m with ray why should he be loyal to a team that tried to trade him? Ray doesn’t owe the celtics anything it’s not like he spent his entire career there. By the way he took a 50% paycut to try and win a ring, not like he took the money and ran

TyroberParticipantEveryone is so upset that Allen left Boston, but nobody cares that the Celtics tried to trade him TWICE. This is a business and Allen went to where he thought was best. Where KG or Pierce thinks he should have went is completely pointless.

Other than like your select few of bonafied super duper stars, who’s name has NOT come up in trade rumors?
To me, that has nothing to do with the bond Allen shared with his teammates. Regardless… KG came back. Doc came back. They all wanted Ray back, including management. They offered him more money than anybody else. Not only did he turn them all down… He went and joined their rival.
To me, that is weak on Ray’s part and it’s a head scratcher to me that he let something petty come between him and his bond with those guys. I was looking at pictures of Ray in a Heat jersey standing next to LeBron, Wade and Bosh, and he didn’t belong there.

goldie92689ParticipantIt will look completely different when they are all on the floor together….
They are all 2 or 3 position players. You can plug just about anyone in with that 4 in crunch time.

TyroberParticipant@IndianaBasketball
They weren’t rumors though. They tried to trade him in the past and had a deal in place to send him to the Grizzlies THIS year. This is a business and Allen felt management disrespected him and he didn’t owe them anything. He filled out his contract and then went to the team of his choice. Also quite a few reports that he and Rondo didn’t get along too well so there were multiple reasons for him to leave. Bradley even started over Allen in the playoffs… I know Allen was injured, but wouldn’t it be easier to come on the bench in a new place than have a rookie take your spot in the starting lineup?

IndianaBasketballParticipantYou’re right. Ray didn’t owe the Celtics anything and they didn’t owe him.
I’m just looking at it more from the perspective that he had a strong bond with his teammates… They were like brothers. Yea, Danny Ainge tried to trade him, but he wasn’t traded… And this past summer Ainge offered Ray more money than any other team. Doc wanted Ray back. Pierce wanted Ray back. KG wanted Ray back. They ALL wanted Ray back. How do you not put aside what management did and re-join your brothers?
I mean, and as far as Ray coming off of the bench… I don’t really see the big deal. Before Jeff Green’s heart issue, there was word that even Pierce could come off of the bench. And last time I looked, Avery Bradley is out with two shoulder sugeries. Ray would be starting.
I don’t know… I can see it from each angle. I just don’t like it. Regardless, I think it adds wood in the fire of an already great rivalry which makes me very very happy lol.

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipant(rain down negs on me) THE BEST CENTER IN THE NBA AS OF LAST YEAR. The Ray Lewis of basketball. I never liked Pierce and still don’t, he is a hall of famer but never liked him. They say you cant teach passion and Hollinger needs to find a way to rate that. KG, D Rose, Westbrook, Noah, Tyson Chandler guys like with energy and passion turn some people off but I’d rather lose with guys like that than win with guys taking family photo’s or doing that John Cena, u cant see me stuff every time you make a shot. I actually like the new tough Bron from the finals and its noteworthy because I’m from Cleveland and we are born with hater in your blood.
