As a Wolves fans, nice job for Flip so far. Keeping pushing up the value of Kevin Love.

Retool Wolves to be a playoffs competitor or rebuild should be a big question for Flip to think about,

    Considering all offers for Love,

Best option for retool: Chicago Bulls

Bulls sends: Tai Gibson, Jimmy Bulter, Rights to Mirotic, 16th and 19th picks, (plus sth balance the trade)

    Wolves sends: Kevin Love

Tai Gibson: Provide defend of the rim. Solve problem of weak side defending problem.

Jimmy Bulter: Nice defender.( One of the best defending backcourt with Rubio?) Low FG%( Worrying may become the worst scoring backcourt)

16th,19th picks: Maybe packing with 13th pick for a higher picker( 8th pick from Kings?)

    Possible trade:

    Picks + Players<——-> Affalo?

    Starting Lineup: Rubio, Affalo, Brewer/Bulter,Gibson,Pekovic?

    ————————————————————————————————-

Best option for rebuild: Cleveland Cavaliers

Cavaliers sends: 1st pick, Dion Waiters, Anderson Varejao

    Wolves sends: Kevin Love

1st pick: Wiggins and Parker would be great options at  this spot. Further trade may happen.

Dion Waiters: Underestimated scoring ability. Can have a lot of shooting chances in the Wolves. (When you pairing with Rubio haha)

Anderson Varejao: Balancing the trade,Is a great rim protecter.

Possible offers for both team: Alexery Shved (Because of the new coach?), Tristian Thompson (If this is added into the trade, Wolves really gain a lot form the trade haha), Anthony Bennett (Still have room to develop, but may take too much salary space of Cavaliers?)

Possible trade with the 1st pick?

    1st and 13th<——> 3rd and 10th?

    1st + Players (+13th) <——> 5th and Derrick Favors?

    ———————————————————————————————–

    Thoughts?

I agree with the trade proposal from the Bulls being a good offer for a retool.

First though, let me say, that I don’t understand why the latest news is that the GSW would send out Lee, Thompson, and either Barnes plus a future 1st (which would be years away and most likely outside of the lottery) or no Barnes and just a future first.  Then, the Wolves would trade Thompson for the #7 pick in the draft?  That doesn’t sound like an impressive haul for the Wolves to me.  The #7 pick will probably be a good player down the road, but they are basically showcasing David Lee for two more years and a rookie?  How many times have Wolves fans had the front office swing and miss on Top 10 picks before while trading away (in the past 7 or so years) 2 Top 10 players in Garnett and now Love?  If they get Thompson, I think he will leave eventually if the Wolves don’t make the playoffs in the next 2 years (which I think is the earliest that Klay Thompson can leave) which they most likely won’t unless they can somehow hit a grand slam with the #7 and #13 picks.  I don’t see that as being a good haul.  But, as far as what the Bulls could offer Minnesota…

Gibson and Butler are both legitimate starters.  Gibson was runner up to 6th man of the year and one of the best low post defenders in the NBA, but he’s 29.  His contract, however, is low enough to be an asset.  Butler is younger and is one of the elite wing defenders in the NBA, as shown by him being named to the 2nd Team All-NBA Defensive squad.  He is due an extension soon, or at the least a qualifying offer after the 2014/2015 season but I think he would be a much safer bet for Minnesota to retain his services over Klay Thompson (who might be offered a monster deal when he is a free agent).  The key is that the Bulls would be sending over the 16th and 19th picks as well as Nikola Mirotic.  Chad Ford said a day or two ago on Chicago sports radio that he feels that he would be a Top 5 pick in this draft if he were available.  The problem with Mirotic is that he is going to be a rookie when he comes over but will demand much more than what most rookies get paid.  Chicago would also most likely allow the Wolves to talk to Mirotic and he might not come over until the 2015/2016 season.  The Bulls would probably throw in Boozer’s expiring deal, so that they could stay above the salary cap and retain their MLE and Bi-Annual Exemption and take back Kevin Martin and Corey Brewer.  To me, that offers the best mix of salary cap relief (versus David Lee’s 2 more years on his deal), assets, and building blocks.

But, I’m a Bulls fan so I can’t REALLY be objective.  I also don’t think the Bulls would want to make that trade, as crazy as it may sound.  I think that the Bulls front office truly believes that Carmelo Anthony can be brought onto the Bulls roster for MUCH less in outgoing assets than it would take for the Bulls to acquire Kevin Love.  With Joakim Noah in the midst of his prime and turning 30, I think they are right to feel they could compete if they can bring Carmelo Anthony in while still keeping Taj Gibson and Jimmy Butler in the fold as well as retaining the rights to Mirotic.  I am of the belief that Phil Jackson and John Paxson would work out a sign and trade that benefits both teams, but really does the Bulls a favor by doing a sign-and-trade with Melo that nets the Knicks draft picks in return.  For them to give Derrick Fischer the reigns of the Knicks, hoping for him to implement the triangle offense, with the current Knicks roster WITHOUT Carmelo Anthony would be a terrible idea.  They would still be over the cap without Melo and nobody outside of (most likely) Iman Shumpert and Tim Hardaway Jr being a part of the team’s long term plans.  If the Bulls offered Boozer and the 16th and 19th picks, as well as maybe a future 1st rounder (or possibly Tony Snell) in addition to the non-guaranteed contracts of Mike James, Lou Amundson, and Ronnie Brewer I believe the Knicks would take it.  Boozer’s contract would come off the books before the 2015 free agent spending spree, just like Tyson Chandler, Amare Stoudemare, and Andrea Bargnani.  The Knicks would also get a couple of talented rookies (or maybe trade with Denver for the #11 pick as was rumored to be in the Bulls plans and get 1 talented rookie) that could learn the Triangle Offense and make the Knicks more attractive to potential free agents.  Losing Melo for nothing makes ZERO sense.  Getting anything but draft picks makes ZERO sense and since the Knicks have absolutely ZERO negotiating leverage they should feel pretty pleased to get picks in this loaded draft class.

Of course, that Melo sign-and-trade scenario is best case for Chicago.  As I have admitted, I am a Bulls fan and of course am biased towards my team getting the best deal possible (although I have seen NBA experts suggest the very scenario I listed above, multiple people have proposed the idea).  It basically adds Melo, while subtracting Boozer (without having to pay him via amnesty for him to sign elsewhere and play against the Bulls, which is against every cell in owner Jerry Reinsdorf’s body).  The Bulls also don’t usually play rookies very often anyway and would have to most likely trade away both picks anyway in order to make room under the cap for Carmelo to sign as a free agent (as well as trade away good players in a salary dump).  But, I do think it makes sense for both teams.  It also makes more sense than trading away 6 assets, two of which are starters in Gibson and Butler, in order to bring back just 1 player.  Of course, Love is 25 and Melo is 30.  I guess most Bulls fans, and I believe the front office, believes that Gibson and Mirotic are close enough to what Love brings to the table, but nobody that the Bulls currently own the rights to can score at an elite level in the ways that Carmelo Anthony can.  The problem is that Love might be traded NOW, while the Carmelo situation won’t come to fuition until after the draft (unless there is a pre-approved arrangement).  I don’t think the Knicks will negotiate with any team until they are absolutely sure that Melo is 100% out the door in New York.  That means the Bulls COULD be left with neither player and a fanbase screaming for the heads of all front office personnel for "striking out" for what seems like the millionth time.
