3 No Biases 3ParticipantI’ve never seen much praise or shock of how good Kevin Love has been in these forums..
Did anyone honestly see these monster numbers in him coming out of UCLA? Everybody said he was a great outlet passer (lol) with a good bball IQ and his ceiling was not that high.
I just find it shocking how good of player he has become, similar to Paul George. Its rare to see guys who were never projected as potential superstars become just that. Its one thing to become all stars, but being close, if not in the top 5 players overall is another thing..
45, 19, 6 was his line tonite in an overtime loss to the Clips.

MalcolmxParticipantI’ll be honest I did not think he would be what he is today.

kngojcParticipantWhen the Wolves first traded away OJ Mayo for him, I thought it was just another bad move management made… He’s not the type of player that you go to in the fourth like you would Lebron or Kobe, but especially in this last game, Pek and Love look like the championship combo of Bynum and Gasol.

omphalosParticipantExcept they lost, because unlike Gasol and Bynum, neither one is a good defender.

kngojcParticipantLol do you really think I would be comparing either of their defensive skills??? Love plays matador and all Pek can do is stand there like a wall. I was talking offensively, the high-low passing. Especially in the fourth quarter, if you watched it, the offense was being entirely run through them.

Jester87ParticipantHonestly I didn’t think he was this kind of player even after his second season in the Nba. I liked his game a lot since his days at UCLA, but I thought his lack of athleticism was going to limit his ceiling

TheLastWordParticipantContrary to what most people think. Love’s pre draft vertical was excellent for a 6’10” 250 player, particularly his standing which really helps him battling for rebounds.

theballerwayParticipantwas that he was known for his post arsenal (as well as those outlets) as a hs propsect but has become such a dangerous face up threat. I thought hed be end up being more of an in the paint player. Definetly never imagind him posting the numbers he does. Credit to his focus and dedication to improving. Defense is next I’m sure lol. Hell of a player

capecodderParticipantHis body has changed….must be 20 lbs lighter and much stronger than his first couple of years

TallmanNYCParticipantHe came into the league at 19 after his freshman year. Didn’t you expect his body to change?

Chilbert arenasParticipantExactly, he was a slow fat body at UCLA who could barley get off the floor. His body transformation and conditioning is a huge part of what makes him who he is today. I thought he was going to be a bust after watching him a good amount at UCLA and even going to the elite 8 game against Xavier. I’m glad I was wrong.

TallmanNYCParticipantHe jumped 35 inches at the draft combine. So no, jumping has never been a weakness for him. But he was chubby 250 at that time.

MUbballfanParticipantThe 2008 draft is the best draft since 2003 IMO, it had Derrick Rose, Kevin Love, and Russell Westbrook who are all top 20 players. Also had O.J. Mayo and a Eric Gordon who are borderline all stars, as well as all stars Brook Lopez and Roy Hibbert who are two of the top big men in the league. Michael Beasley could’ve made this draft even better but it still isn’t determined if he will fulfill his potential (probably not).

Jester87ParticipantImho Mayo has never been a borderline all star. Gordon was before injuries, he has to prove he’s still on that level. Gallinari was a borderline all star last year. Very good draft anyways, also nice players like Batum, Ibaka, George Hill, Ryan Anderson, Hickson, Robin Lopez and a lot of great second round picks (Pekovic, Dragic, Asik, DeAndre Jordan, Chalmers, Mbah a Moute) in it. Plus I think some of the guys in this class have still some untapped potential.

MUbballfanParticipantMayo could’ve been considered a borderline all-star after the great start he had on Dallas last year, but other than that I agree he probably hasn’t really close to being an all star.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantThat weight loss really helped him stay on the court longer without getting tired. His work ethic is impeccable.
