So today KD just got to the 10,000 point mark on his career, and at only 24 (just turned if that matters), do you think he has a chance and breaking kareems all time scoring record? or at least getting in the top 5? He has shown no signs of injury and even when his athleticism goes, his shooting won’t. I’m not saying he will break the record but is it plausible to consider it? the only other player to get get to 10,000 points was Kobe and he relied more on athleticism at Durant

Didn’t LeBron hit 10,000 at the age of 23?

I’m pretty sure LeBron is the youngest player to get 10,000 and 15,000 and he’ll be the youngest to 20,000 when he hits it this season.

So Durant has a great shot to break 35,000 and get close to Kareems record but by that time, it’ll probably be LeBron’s nearly 40,000.  Barring injury, God forbid.

Also should be noted Jordan would be well over 40,000 if he hadn’t retired twice

I disagree, Jordan taking a hiatus away from the rigors of basketball increased his time of dominance. Do you know how much wonders a two year break from basketball will do to your body?

Are you suggesting that Michael Jordan’s 16 month retirement increased his time of dominance lol? That’s hilarious.

First, he wasn’t even training like a basketball player while he was retired. He was training like a baseball player, which did absolutely nothing for his basketball game.

Second, there aren’t too many athletes in sports history that took care of their body as well as Jordan did. Kobe Bryant is entering his 17th straight season. There’s no doubt Jordan could’ve done the same.

LeBron James reached 10,000 points in 368 career games. Kevin Durant reached 10,000 points in 381 career games. Jordan reached 10,000 points in 303 games while missing 64 games his second season with a broken foot.

Had Jordan not retired twice and had a non-stop career like a Kareem Abdul-Jabar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, etc, there’s a strong chance that he’d have scored 40K points and be the leading scorer in NBA history. Other than Wilt Chamberlain, you can’t argue anybody in NBA history is a a better scorer than Jordan.

Yeah Durant could eventually become the all time leading scorer because he has a 7’6 wingspan and a deadly jumper, a combination that will only get better over time and has already proven unguardable.

LBJ hit it at 23, Melo/Kobe/T-Mac/KD all hit it at 24

Its impressive but the media is gonna make this a huge deal

The age thing shouldn’t matter. Lebron and MJ did it in fewer games. That is what matters. I’m not bashing the feat of 10k points at such a young age. KD is a beast. It’s more Durant didn’t have a chance to beat Lebron to it at a younger age. Lebron came from HS and Durant had to go to college for a year. It is almost impossible for him to break the age record and will be almost impossible for anyone else with the college rule.
