They just allowed Tennessee to score 50 points on them in the first half. To me, this shows how really valuable Nerlens’ defense really is to this team. Without him, I don’t think they look like they can even win the NIT. Like the saying goes, you don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone. Is it possible that this showing could actually boost Noel’s stock by showing how much of a game-changer on D he really is?

Also…imagine how f*****g scary Kentucky will be next year if Noel comes back to anchor the middle.

One of ESPN’s NBA writers has already done an article where GMs are saying they wouldn’t take number #1 now, but they definently would take him in the 2-6 range as long as his rehab is comming along as expected.

It really depends who win’s the lottery, I bet 1 or 2 gm’s in the lottery would still take him first

They wouldn’t be able to win the NIT WITH Noel. Let’s not pretend that Kentucky was ever that good of a team at any point this season. Their best win was against Ole Miss and they’re not that good of a team either.
Kentucky sucking with Noel gone shouldn’t be a stock booster at all. It matters how they played with him and they were pretty underwhelming all season.

You may be right on your other points but that comment is just Ludicrous…

Don’t act like this team is awful cause their not..They took Duke and Louisville down to the wire, supposedly 2 of the best teams in the nation…

They had arguably 5 NBA players on their team when Noel was in the lineup…Not but like 1 or 2, if any, other teams in the country can say that…

I agree that they haven’t been a good team all year but don’t be ridiculous and act like they aren’t even NIT worthy..

Where in my post did I say they weren’t NIT worthy?
Go ahead and quote me. I said that they wouldn’t be able to win the NIT and I stand by that. There will be teams in this yr’s NIT who play better as team than Kentucky has all yr.

Also, it doesn’t matter how many future NBA players they have on their roster if they can’t put it together and get some quality wins.

During the Entire season,None of the Kentucky players haved played with any confidence..They are always looking timid, depressed and confused on both offense & defense…..And nobody emerged as the go to guy……As a Kentucky fan i was hoping Coach Cal would have straighten things out by now…..In the past when guys ae struggling,he’s placed them in roles to be successful…But this season,he looks as confused as the team does…

It’s hard to succeed without a good point guard and one consistent shooter.

Does anyone know if Nerlens Noel will make a full recovery? I hate to see anyone go down like that with so much promise. Hope he makes a full recovery and comes back to Kentucky for one more year.

Noel was the only one on the team that could play defense….

The other guys relied on him too heavily, they’ve paid for it the whole season and today they REALLY paid for it…these guys better realize they need to step up or they won’t make the tourney or get drafted anywhere near where they expect to go…

So what was the excuse for their defensive performance against Duke, Notre Dame, Louisville, Texas A&M, and Florida? There was no difference defensively from today’s game and the Texas A&M game. Heck, Tennessee shot 46 percent from the field in the last meeting despite going 3-12 from three.

It was a road conference game, and sometimes it gets ugly. Florida didn’t realize they were in the state of Arkansas until they were down 20. It happens. Kentucky will have all the energy in the world emanating from the atmosphere when they return home for a bad Vanderbilt and Mississippi State teams. They are not going to lose those games. Can they beat Missouri or Florida at home or Arkansas and Georgia on the road? I am not so sure, but other than Georgia I wouldn’t have been sure before the injury. It is still a mid-week road game, Georgia has won 6 of 8, and there is probably a good argument that Caldwell-Pope will be the best player on the floor.

im wondering if anybody is gnna call out calaparis coaching this yr…. im not saying he deserves criticism…. I did expect a lot more from UK this yr… no leadership, no chemistry, no shooting, no good PG play, and no consistency
you have Goodwin trying to play hero ball… poythress playing half ass at times… harrow just isn’t very good….
Kentucky is likely going to the NIT this yr

Cal absolutely deserves some criticism. The fact remains that some times his coaching is less than desirable. He is a phenomenal recruiter and a slightly above average x and o guy. That being said, i’m not sure any coach in the country could do much more with this dysfunctional team. A writer from the Courier Journal (KY newspaper) said he heard Calipari tell Goodwin he “could not coach him” in the second half of todays game. Don’t be surprised if Cal strongly encourages Poythress and Goodwin to pro after the season. I agree that they should, but it just seems like Cal doesn’t enjoy coaching this group.

I’ve been calling out Cal’s coaching for years. Where is the improvement?
The only player I see improvement in is Wiltjer.

imagine if a guy like tom izzo or bill self who are used to over achieving with lesser talented teams coached this team that actually has a good amount of talent to compete in the tournament?? I think calapari is a good coach… you cant take that away from him… but they are a lot of coaches who are better w/o a doubt….

maturity is really really hurting this team…. its not to often we get to witness a team like last years Kentucky team…
