stanford hoopslol..are you serious?..recruiting violations for what?..he lands the best players because he has a style they like and he gets them ready for the nba…duke gets more mcdonalds all american then he does, unc, ucla back in the day so they must all be doing something wrong…theres no way that kids wanna go there because of the great program and coach and playing time and exposure and track recrod of making not to known players into first round picks

Tim49461Participantim pissed because if it turns out there is a recruiting violation like Cal had at Umass, Memphis. My name too might be tarnished. Something is to fishy about this one, the alleged payment makes it worse.

stanford hoopsfirst ..there was no recruiting violation at umass..camby acceptted money from a agent as a junior
second rose had someone else take his test..he wasnt given money to come to memphis or cars or anything else…so youre anger is unfounded if those are the reasons
the alleged payments was shown to be just hate…just like if i said that you robbed a bank just to make you look bad.

I seriously doubt you’re on the Kentucky coaching staff… I mean, maybe you’re a student manager/towel boy or something, but no coach.

Tim49461ParticipantManager spot, i never said on the staff itself.
The point is at Umass and Memphis the hammer was dropped on his program and to have report come out on someone who is known to have problems isnt a good sign fake or true.

Tim49461ParticipantI agree Standford that the freedom in his offense is appealing, but lately it feels like it is Miami all over again. All the top recruits are joining each other instead of carrying their own teams. My issue is, you have all these talented kids that have been told their the MAN their whole life, and some how you manage to pull 3 or 4 of best players in the country and tell them to share the spotlight is little strange dont you think.
I mean it helped him alot last year that Wall, Cousins and Bledsoe did so well but the interest in his offense being so open and run and gun style is not enough to lure kids to play.

stanford hoopsthis is nothing new…duke roster is full of mcdonalds allamericans. unc used to get at least 3 a year. michigan had the fab five then the next 2 years did the same thing
and have you ever talked to kids?..obviously not if you think his style isnt appealing to them. his style allows the guards freedome as well ass the forwards. players love that style

Tim49461ParticipantStanford, The thing im pointing out is this.
Tell me the Difference between Baylor,UNC,UK,Missouri, Memphis, Florida,Michigan State
All of them allow their players to any position.
All of them are known for running and have fast break sets
Most of them have Heralded coaches/Hall Of Fame coaches
about 2/3 of the have Top notch basketball facilitiesI didn’t mean to mean unappealing what i was trying to say is other programs offer the same thing, with same history etc. etc.

Tim49461ParticipantDo you not understand Cal’s Dribble drive is just the Princeton with a little bit of a tweak? UNC has one the fastest offense in the country. And that is why the other programs should have a edge because not only to they run but they run sets to help get ready for the NBA.
Florida ( back to back national champs?)
Baylor ( has been making deep runs the last couple years and recruiting is heating up big time )
Mizz (although not the same history but still known for being one of the faster teams in the nation )i not implying all of them have the same history but Florida, MSU, UNC, Memphis have all got a successful past 5 years and beyond.

canesboy6ParticipantYou guys are so delusional. You swear that your school doesn’t have a history of paying players and NCAA violations. Your last coach was a drunk, which ironically in Kentucky, took 3 years to fire him. Thats after nobody really wanted the job.
Calipari put 2 different programs on Probation, and every single year has at least 2 recruits with question marks. And yet, you guys cannot see a fish, smell a fish, taste a fish, and recognize a fish. Its hillarious that Elite 8 appearances are worth that much to you. Maybe you will win a title this way, but more than Likely I predict that you don’t in either of the next 2 years, Cal gets in trouble, jumps pro, and you guys are stuck on probation.
Again…

Tim49461ParticipantHey OhCanada i told him to sign with Prestige Worldwide but No he wanted to be a big man and do it himself.
To be honest, the hype had reasoning. He was playing against Cousins and Patterson day in and day out. But even from day one around here we knew he was extremely raw offensively. He got better towards the end of the year but still not good enough to leave. But I got the pleasure of seeing him, cousins, and P2 play 1 on 1 alot and defensively he held his own. I know it helped cousins out alot. But yea when he declared we were all kind of shocked in a way ( most people would buy into the hype he was given tho ). One more year he would have been atleast top 15. I know some of the assistants were going to be make him the focal point of the offseason and work with him on his offense.
I haven’t been around long enough to predict players ceilings, I just dont see him getting “it” in the NBA.

stanford hoopsCal didnt put two teams on probation marcus camby and rose did. Camby acceptted money from a agent while in school…that has ZERO to do with cal. umass was put on probation because of what CAMBY did.
Rose had someone else take his s.a.ts Cal didnt take it for him Cal didnt even pick the site where he took the test. His Brothers/family did so lets deal with FACTS.
so just because baylor made a run and florida won a couple years ago they now are on par historicly with kentucky?..having the same history doesnt just mean the past 5 years. florida, baylors history isnt even close to kentucky’s
obviously the other programs dont have the same thing because these recruits arent going to the other programs. you obviously have never been recruited because you dont seem to understand what makes kentucky and coach cal so attractive to recruits
And the money thing was so credible that when the father threatened to sue the paper took the story down………

OhCanada-ParticipantWhy would you not promote your own player? You just trashed your “son”. If you are the assistant coach you really shouldnt be doing that, you should support what he has done and expect him to improve. You should be willing to engage with him and continue to help him improve. Shame on you.

Kentucky’s history is based on the Rupp days, only the hardcore Kentucky fans remember anything between.
Florida ( They won back to back that is a big deal )
Once again i said i didn’t literally mean all their history are on the same level, but style, coaches etc.all have a ( bit ) in common ( just to clarify before you make an entire post about it, I realize Memphis and Baylor dont have HoF coaches but both are being heralded as top up and coming coaches.

stanford hoopsonly the hardcroe fans remember anything between?..lol..you have no idea what youre talking about…most people know about the pitino years i guess you forgot about that huh.
back to back titles doesnt a history make. history is more then just 2 years
so is butlers history on par with syracuse because they got to the finals ONE year
being a up and coming coach or program doesnt put them in disscussion with a coack k and duke or williams and unc or cal and kentucky.

Tim49461ParticipantHmm Back to Back is a pretty big deal and still having the coach that put that back to back together makes it even better.
One Championship makes an era to remember, that is really bad reasoning and logic on your part? I’m talking about coaches holding it down for years enough to call it history.
Now i know you are trying to be a smart A, but you’re failing once again you place Coach Cal into a category with K and Williams. How many titles has he won? Ok, do some more research. Being called a heralded coach means your already respected by your peers.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantNot Shocked. Would have loved to see A.D. come to Syracuse.
Money Talks I see.

Tyreke JohnsonParticipantAnother talented recruiting class, I do believe Calipari is the best recruiter in college basketball, he must be very persuasive for all these top recruits every year to commit to Kentucky, he is such a good coach because of his talent, no disrespect to him but his team last year should of easily made it to the Championship game yet they shot their way out of the Final Four and lost to West Virginia, I really want to see where Quincy Miller is headed now though because chances are slim of him heading to Kentucky.

stanford hoopsAre the chances really that slim that miller heads to kentucky?..cousins and orton went there ..bledsoe who was a pg went there evn though he had to have known john wall was gonna be the starting pg. im willing to bet coach cal could convince him to come even with other players at his position

WrecklessParticipantEveryone knows Wroten is commiting, and as soon as MIchael Chandler gets a offer im pretty sure he’ll go there to.
You really think Miller wants to back up Davis or even split minutes with him?0 - Posted on: Sat, 08/14/2010 - 3:30am #375422

Tyreke JohnsonParticipantStanford, I am not sure if that was directed to me or not but I clearly stated that he was the best recruiter in college basketball right now, no where in my statement did I ever say he was one of the greatest coaches ever, I actually said he wasn’t a good enough of a coach considering how talented his team was last year and they failed to even make the championship game.

Mr.Knick 32Participantjust my opinion on who goes where and why. Just like top 10
Q.Miller- I believe Duke or Kentucky. I believe Duke will see him last and he’s going to a visit/duke showcase in September. I think Duke celebrating the fact the titles are on the cusp and all the talent there? He goes Duke.
A.Rivers- He wore Duke clothing while chilling with Duke players after Duke won a title. Duke.
LeBryan Nash- Baylor. I think he’s strong on Baylor but UK could grab him up if they fail on Miller.
A. Thomas- Memphis
T.Wroten- I think UK is a lock. That’s all he talks about on twitter. However, there is a slim chance both Wroten and Miller go to Louisville.

WrecklessParticipantI dont understand why Lebryan Nash would even look at UK.
What position would he play? By the way, Who needs Miller when you got anthony Davis. They are both Power fowards and I doubt Q Miller would like to play will all of them anyway.Wroten and Chandler are locks for UK right about now.

bsettleParticipantIf you really are a manager, which I don’t believe you are, then you will recognize my name. Sure you could google it and write what it is but if you keep insisting that you are a manager then I will have to ask some tougher questions which I don’t think you’ll be able to answer.

WrecklessParticipantBut Gilchrist has the spot. Unless you see Wroten backing up Teague which I doubt.
Teague
Wroten
Gilchrist
Davis
Chandler. And If Eloy Vargas stays then he may start over Chandler.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantWell, you know Cal like to recruit deep.
Nash could be the 6th man as the combo forward.
