I think Walker is a lottery

I think Walker is a lottery pick in the 8-14 range, he has good size and top end speed and I was watching him pretty much beat a solid WSU team by himself. I'd compare him to a bigger Ty Lawson

I still see Walker as a young

I still see Walker as a young T.J. Ford type. He's fast and a dynamic playmaker. He plays better D than Ford though, and even though he's not big he's still not going to be limited quite as much as Ford has been by his lack of size. Playing against the FIBA players has benefitted him like I thought it would though. He's made some solid improvements from last year.

I see him anywhere from late lotto to the mid-20's.

Mix between Tim Hardaway and Ty Lawson.....glad to see my boy breaking out, he wasn't getting any love coming into the season. I think he will get drafted somewhere between 15-22. Has a chance to creep into the late lottery if he continues to light it up all year.

@JayNix, Remember I had Walker on my list of National Player of The Year Candidates like 3 months ago? And you said I was crazy for putting him on there over Kalin Lucas? Yeah well...I hate to say I told you so.

Kemba Walker > Kalin Lucas

Alec Burks > Corey Higgins

And wait for it here's the other big one I predicted....

Perry Jones > Harrison Barnes

UncleBuckshot I gave him a lot of love coming into this season and had him in my top ten list for National Player of Year Candidate. Walker really played well towards the end of last season and I could just see his potential ready to explode. He was the lone bright spot on Uconn last year. His numbers will come back down to earth but I still expect him to be averaging over 20 and 7.

With that said I still think Maalik Waynes is a better pro prospect.

I always thought he was underrated but he's not a lotto pick AT ALL. I agree with my amigo in the T.J. Ford comparison.

JayNix now is not really the time to be saying that when Walker is shooting over 50% and averaging 30 ppg and Lucas is shooting a horriffic 37% while averaging 11 ppg.

Walker is a hands down better prospect/player then Lucas and is just stuck on a bad team.

I don't kno if Walker is a lotto pick but he will be drafted anywhere from the 10-20 range.

Now is also not the time to be blowing a guy who plays for a team that will be on the bubble at the end of the year as opposed to a guy who is the most experienced PG in the nation and is playing on the 2nd best team in college basketball. It's also not the time to be on the nuts of a guy who's 1st 3 games have come against Stony Brook, Vermont, and Wichita State. It's also important to remember UConn has played 3 games, and Michigan State has played 2. Kinda pointless to bring up stats when those stats are skewed due to the amount of games played, or lack thereof.

Wasn't Ford the NPOY as a Senior? Also, Ford was a top 10 pick but never a top 10 talent. Looking back at that draft, he probably falls out the top 10.

Wichita state, is a great defensive, who have consistantly been good, and should make the tourney this year.

He does play a lot like T.j Ford.

I still think Ford would have been a beast if injuries didnt hit.

There's not gonna make it this year, I'm willing to bet that. They went 17-17 last season.

Also, T.J. Ford wouldn't have been a beast. Probably good but not a beast.

Mr. Knick you may be too

Mr. Knick you may be too young to remember TJ Ford looking like a 6 foot version of John Wall in college basketball, Ford had eyes in the back of his head, was the fastest player in the nation, and use to go coast to coast for highlight dunks. He came into the league with as much potential as any PG and had it not been for injuries was a surefire All Star.

And JayNix I have been hyping Walker up for half a year now. And You are right Uconn is a bubble team but he is the best player and leader of that team. MSU got a ton of talent and Summers if the best player on the team. Plus MSU played 3 games and Lucas has looked really bad in all 3.

Nixon's probably right, NPOY

Nixon's probably right, NPOY might be a stretch for Walker. I like him better than Kalin Lucas but I just don't see UConn having the kind of year he would need in order to win that award. I don't see Lucas winning it either but time will tell. As for Walker in the draft, yeah hes probably in the mid to late first range but somebody could easily fall in love with him in the lotto. Hes an incredible leader and has that IT factor that very few point guard prospects have. There is no risk with him because he will compete from day one. That performance was unbelievable. It really reminded me of DWade in the '06 Finals. Just play after play in a row, refusing to let his team give up. I love watching him play.

Mr Knick, WSU is a veteran team who is very good defensively and has good size, they are a serious threat to win the MVC conference tourney this year. Don't sell the MVC short, they put out some good teams for a mid major

I don't see Lucas winning

I don't see Lucas winning NPOY either. I never predicted him to be the winner. But to say Kemba Walker has a better chance is silly. UConn is nowhere near a good enough team to do that. If you have a NPOY level player on your team and you play with at least decent talent like UConn has, your team shouldn't be on the bubble.

Also, Durrell Summers is the most talented player on Michigan State. But Lucas is the leader and best player. I can't be the only person that read where Mr.19134 said Summers is the best player on Michigan State and found that to be a ridiculously stupid statement.

Reading your statement about Lucas playing bad in all 3 games shows that you haven't watched Michigan State play. They have only played 2 games. And in the 1st game, Lucas played very well. He didn't even play bad in the 2nd game overall. He just didn't make his jump shots off the dribble from mid-range. He did everything else at his usual level.

Not selling them short at all. They went 17-17 last season and I'm willing to take the bet they don't get in the NCAA tourney. I'm sure they are a good defensive team ( teams like WSU and SIU are).

I used to love it to see like Southern Illinois do thier thing.

And Maalik Wayns and Corey Fisher haven't looked like better PG's than McCamey at all so far. They actually havem't looked like better PG's than McCamey since last year, when McCamey became Illinois starting PG.

so Kemba Walker lit it up in

so Kemba Walker lit it up in two games so he is better then Kalin Lucas who is coming off an achilles injury honestly your saying he is going to be the NPOY after 3 games. Lucas didnt need to put up big stats since his team won two blowouts and wait until Lucas puts up 20 shots this season before bringing in fied goal percentages up. Well when tey play enxt round we will see that Lucas is better then Kemba Walker

I gotcha, I just think it's

I gotcha, I just think it's way too early to count them out, I think they're a 20-23win team who probably won't get an at large bid, but is still a team very capable of nabbing the MVC automaic bid

Like i said you don't

Like i said you don't remember Ford. Ford was only a sophomore when he was a NPOY candidate. Ford entered the draft after his sophomore year.

Ford averaged like 15 points, 8 assists and over 2 steals his 2nd and last year in college. During that draft the Heat were even looking at him with the 5th pick because he was thought the be the next best true PG. Ford's court vision use to be insane and in college he made a lot of Jason Kidd like passes while making Steve Francis type athletic plays. Some people even went as far as to calling him the true PG version of Iverson.

If he was a sophomore PG out of Texas entering one of these recent drafts he is still a top ten pick. There is not doubt that in '09 he would of been drafted ahead of Jonny Flynn.

And Meechy is putting up better numbers but in more minutes and he has the ball in his hands the whole game. Fisher and Waynes have to share the ball because they are both great guards. I can't even argue about Meechy shooting 60% from the field thus far tho. But he still isn't anywhere near the level of defender Fisher and Waynes are.

@Demarcus Oneal I have always

@Demarcus Oneal I have always thought Walker was better then Lucas and wasn't going to say anything untill I saw this post I couldn't resist.

Granted Lucas plays on a better team with a better coach and more talent but Walker has a bigger individual impact of the 2 when they are on the court. That is why Walker will be drafted in the 12-20 range and Lucas will be a 2nd rounder next year.

Isn't a PG supposed to have the ball in his hands when they're in the game? Fisher and Wayns share the ball because Fisher is a combo guard who's trying to show scouts that he can be a PG too. Your argument changed from Fisher and Wayns are better PG'S than McCamey to "he still isn't anywhere near the defender they are". I know he's not, but that doesn't mean Fisher and Wayns are NPOY candidates over him or better PG's. smh

Thanks okay Knickboy '03 was a long time ago so you made an easy mistake but coming out as a sophomore as compared to coming out as a senior is a big deal as sophomores has the highest percentage of becoming stars. (its true you can google it.) But you said Ford wouldn't be drafted that high in a draft nowadays and I think he would be drafted just as high. Ford was the type of prospect coming out of college that would never drop out of the top ten and I said '09 because for example I think he is a better prospect then Flynn was coming out.

No, I said if we redid that draft today, he probably wouldn't be taken as high as he did in 03 with what we know.

Also, that sophomore success thing is DROPPING because of James Harden lol

walker

is a career backup pg. he is too wild and out of control on offense. not a high basketball iq. not a good passer, not a good shooter.

uvm's pg are 5'7'' and 5'11'' and the 5'7'' one is better but neither are going to being playing overseas.

stonybrook's pg is a slow 6'0'' whiteboy that is just a good shooter thats it.

as a american east fan i know plenty about these two teams and lighting them up means nothing.

What about last year? When Walker had Jerome Dyson and Stanley Robinson on his team and they still only made the NIT? Last year's UConn team was probably more talented than last year's Michigan State team, and Michigan State was a Final 4 team. They possiblyly would've been in the title game with a healthy Kalin Lucas too.

Walker is going to be a top 20 pick and Lucas is a late 1st runder at best because Walker has more athleticism and will have a more seamless adjustment to the NBA because of it. It has nothing to do with right now, because Lucas does a better job of running a team than Walker does as of right now.

Knicksboy like seriously?

Knicksboy like seriously? Are you serious? What we know 7 years after the draft? You can do that with any draft. And all we know is he sufferers from the injury bug because talent wise he is still a top ten pick. And he still might go in the lottery in that draft.

JayNix I think Dyson stinks and Robinson will probably never do anything in the NBA. Robinson is just a hustle player and MSU had a way deeper and talented team. As they still do. Plus they have way better coaching.

And Fisher only has to play off ball at times because Waynes is so good. It doesn't mean he is not a good PG it means he is versatile. If Waynes didn't play on that team Fisher is looking at averages of 20 and 6.5 assists. He is a very underrated playmaker. That was the point I am trying to make.

And Nix have you ate your words about Burks and Higgins yet? Is it not obvious Burks is the best player on that team and is a true scorer instead of just a transition threat?

And how right was I about Harrison Barnes? Is their any reason for UNC to be 2-2 right now while Baylor is undefeated without Dunn?

I told you Jones was more important to that team then Dunn this year.

Dyson was a solid contributor when A.J. Price ran the offense though, and Robinson was a key contributor was productive last year and was a contributor with A.J. Price around too. Why couldn't they mesh with Walker last year? I'm sure they would've played well with Kalin Lucas.

I'll eat my words when they play more than 3 games man. There are like 30 games in a season. Baylor has played 3 games, and 2 of them were against teams that probably will have losing records at the end of the year.

Fisher plays off the ball alot because Fisher is a combo guard. Not because Wayns is "so good" lol. He's also not as much of a PG as Wayns is.

Although Kemba is my fav

Although Kemba is my fav college PG I know for a fact, he will not go in the lottery due to the "TALENT/HYPE" of the other guards who are rated ahead of him. I am not surprised at all by his performance, because I already knew he would be capable of playing at a HIGH INTENSE level, especially if he worked on his J. He already has the quickness and acceleration to beat his man off the dribble and get to the rack.

Kemba

Will be a solid back up PG IMO he is more under control and is using his speed is ways I never thought he would. at 5'11/6'0 he is a pesky defender gets into the offensive player and he also is very athletic teams like New York, Charlotte, Detroit and Miami should make a move after him in the draft I see as a back up but he could be a solid starter if he is in the right system.

Max Potential- Tim Hardaway

Most Likely- Poor mans Rondo, better shot, less passing ability, same defensive tenacity

Bust Potential- Smush Parker

Walker over Lucas all day, I

Walker over Lucas all day, I think Kalin Lucas is a lil overrated. Dont get me wrong he is a good college basketball player but as far as nba potential there is nothing that really stands out about him, plus obviously he is injury prone. Kemba Walker has speed and quickness to burn he toys with defenders, and if they were 2 swith teams i think Michigan St. would be favored over Duke.

I always said he reminded me of Lawson

I want to see what he does in Big East play before I get hyped up on his recent play though. He is a pro IMO 8 to 14 I just don't know if I would consider him that hie right now though. I am a fan though I like the way he gets in the lane and plays D.
