Is it me or so most of the people with lower points on here make the most sence? I see someone putting up a very interesting or informitave post and then its like -27 from some guy with 567437657 points and thier responce sounds like a 3rd grader. I dont know but i think from now on im not even looking at peoples points. Im sure some people with lots of points are smart but to me, it just seems like the less pts you have the more you know about basketball. Sometimes i think its backwards day and all the negs should be +’s lol but hey just my opinion

Maybe you should learn how to spell simple words like “sense” or “their” before you start trying to determine who are the smart posters or not?
Better way of judging posters by points is the efficiency of their posts. I am going to think more of someone with 300 posts and 1000 points over someone with 1000 posts and 1200 points. Quality over quantity to simplify it for ya.

Just something I’ve noticed, you’re more critical then before. I hope all is well in your life because I sure as hell know that tough life episodes effect the way I post. Just try not to go into a spiral, slowly build yourself back up.

Points are overrated…. specially with the possibility of giving yourself points.
If I wanted I could have 165 extra points… would that make me smarter???
A lot of people post what they are posting with points in their mind, which is ridiculous to me, but OK.

You just have to post whatever you’re thinking. There have been times that I get 10 points in a post and other times that I get -10 in a post. Doesn’t affect me in real life and won’t change my opinion.

I always thought that taking away the thumbs down away would solve a lot of problems. That way there’s no worry behind voicing your opinion (if you’re afraid of getting negged or are an up-and-coming poster making a name for yourself.) Then you can just look at posts to points ratio and see if they get a lot of points or not. That’s pretty much what I do already anyway am I’m sure other people look at the posts to points ratio.

I guess the only time I care about the points is if I post a link to a blog post I wrote. If it gets a lot of points, awesome. I take that as a sign people enjoyed reading it. If it gets negged then I’d like to know why so I can improve my writing, or maybe I left something out that could’ve been addressed. Things like that. Not like I get all defensive, I just enjoy criticism so I can improve and also so I can look at other viewpoints.
But with that said, I care more about the comments and what’s actually said than the points assigned to it. I’ve had someone run through a ton of my comments and neg me just to neg me, so points aren’t everything.

To be perfectly honest i just joined recently and didn’t even notice the points thing at all. Seems really pointless to me. I do tend to give more credit to dedicated long term members though, but that goes with a lot of other things, not just forums.
