lalailaParticipanti see all the talks about great HS class has slowed down..has I missed something or people didn’t noticed how of the beast Julius Randle is and how his injury made no impact for his game..
19pts in 15minutes return 35 in second game back, 40&17 in state semi, and overall 74points in last two games..
it’s HS but it’s still amazing how fast and how strong he came back..i see Beasley type of season coming next year

ASAP HenryParticipantagreed, I see a lot of Beasley in Randle’s, yet Randle appears to have a much better head on his shoulders. Randle’s impact on the college level depends a lot on where he goes to school. One of the reason why Beasley put up such insane numbers was because he was by far an away the best player on K-State. If Randle goes to UK then I highly doubt he puts up 26 & 12 like Beasley. However, if he goes to NC State I could see him averaging around 18ppg and 8rpg.
I really hope that Randle works hard to tap into his potential, because the kid could be a beast just like Beasley could have been

SiggyParticipantI see the similarity too but Randle has no problem playing physically. He’s a bully while Beas is more of a finesse player. Randle could be what Beasley was supposed to be.

JoeWolf1I hope he goes to Kansas. I think he could come in and drop 17 and 10 for Self as a freshman. They’re losing a lot of guys and he could come in to an elite college program and not have to defer to anyone.

i’m jus so offendedParticipantI like him a lot but am I the only one who saw 5 pretty small white dudes on the court basically at all times in those highlights? He should be droppin 40 on those turds. Still, he is a game changer in terms of where he goes to school.

Ghost01ParticipantAnother awful comparison..Beasley? Have you seen how athletic this guy is? What is athletic about Michael Beasley? How quickly he eats food? He is lazy, slow, and terrible. Randle is one of the most athletic prospects I have seen in awhile (along with Aaron Gordon and Wiggins, those are 3 STUD athletes in one class) and he is way more versatile than Beasley ever was. And again, you are comparing him to a player whose attitude/laziness greatly impacted his failures so it is completely unfair to do. But again, their athleticism is nowhere near parallel.

DlesnieParticipantI see someone doesn’t remember Beasley in college.

Ghost01ParticipantOh I remember Beasley in college just fine. He was never an elite athlete. ELITE. Like, on par with NBA elite. He was a great scorer in college. He was a great rebounder in college. He had a lot of skill. Randle is an ATHLETE. He is a guy in that Lebron, Westbrook, Rose, J Smith, Griffin line of guys who can do amazing things based on how athletic and strong he is.
Beasley was never that guy. Anyone who has seen anything from Randle and thinks the two are similar really have no idea what they are talking about.
I’m not saying the comparison is off because of Randle being better than Beasley. I know Beasly was great in college. I’m saying its off because they aren’t similar at all.

mini_marzParticipantIMO I think they are very different I feel as if randle has more an inside game then Beasley did and is more aggressive while Beasley had overall more offensive weapons then randle. I think people are letting the constant disappointment of Beasleys NBA career cloud their memory of how talented he really was in HS and college
But on another note do u really think randle is in the same class athletically as lebron rose and the others that u mentioned ???? I could see someone saying wiggins could potentially be in that group athletically but not randle. While he is a really good athlete he isn’t on par with those guys just my opinion

Ghost01ParticipantYes I do. He doesn’t have the ball handling skills to use that athleticism like a Rose or a Westbrook, but I think he could do some of the things guys like Josh Smith and DeAndre Jordan do from an athletic standpoint.

White ChocolateParticipantJulius Randle is going to Kentucky book it.

lalailaParticipantactually his ball handling looks GREAT for a power forward, and YES he is in the elite class athleticism wise..
Wiggins is overall from the other planet so won’t compare with his lol
people give Aaron Gordon so much Blake Griffin comparison’s but Randle leaps nearly as high (just watch his dunks from the last summer) and he has such better quickness, his first step is unstoppable for power forwards

theballerwayParticipantHad a reliable jump shot which is one of the reasons he didnt bang (excessively in hs) and one of the reason he struggles now . still loves thatjumper. In HS beasley was doin all those between the legs dunks and that stuff you see from Randle but he could shoot. Randle can hit the jumper but he knows his bread n butter. However the more that shot starts to fall for Randle the more hes gonna shoot them just like Beasley. At this stage Randles most reliable coring option is to bang on the ittle guys. As the comp gets bigger I expect this to changge, he blatantly fancies himself as a big 3. Interesting to see what poion he plays next year. Im guessing a 4 lioke how they use Leslie at NC
I really hope he doesnt go to Kentucky but ho hum.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcdKsNp0MIs -McDs dunk off nothing crazy- he loses to Griffin funnily enough

ASAP HenryParticipantRandle is not in the same class as LeBron, Griffin, Rose, and Westbrook when it comes to athleticism. Yes, he’s a very good athlete, but not on LBJ’s level. And I really do think that u are allowing Beasley’s poor NBA career to cloud your judgement on how crazy talented Beasley was in HS and college.
Also, Randle and Beasley are pretty similar. Both are undersized power forwards who have well rounded offensive games. Good jump shooters, but probably rely on their jumper a little too much at times. Both are very good athletes, but not elite athletes. Both are left handed, yet are good finishers with their right hands. IMO, Randle has the potential to be what Beasley should have been. A mis-match nightmare who can score in a variety of ways
0- Posted on: Tue, 03/12/2013 - 12:22pm #754710
Ghost01ParticipantOkay, maybe he isn’t on LBJ’s level of athleticism, but no one really is. He is still a top tier athlete, and much more so than Beasley. I get why you are comparing the two, but from all the games I have watched Randle play, he really does things that are just unguardable because of the way he gets up.and can just power through people. Beasley, conversely, did rely on his jumkp shot too much. But you are misrepresenting the way you are judging Randle’s athletic ability. I never said Beasley wasn’t talented, or even more talented than Randle. I just never saw Beasley do anything to blow you away athletically at K State, and I see Randle do that every time I have seen any clip of him or game of him.

BigChamp12ParticipantEverytime I see Julius Randle, I think of Anthony Bennett… Style of play, the build, the motor, intensity, etc.
Am I close?
