ConezdParticipantDid Julius Randle help solidify himself being a top 5 pick now that he measured favorably at the combine? 6’9" in shoes and 7′ wingspan? I have to believe those are better than expected of him.

druneave3ParticipantThe panel at the combine today was saying how several teams have Vonleh higher and I’m in the Vonleh camp. Despite the good measurements today I still feel he will struggle to finish against length and bigger, stronger players at the league.
Give me the better defender and rebounder in Vonleh who can also stretch the floor. I will take a Chris Bosh over Carlos Boozer or a Z-Bo type player. Vonleh could be a better rebounder and defender than Bosh as well. Like Boozer/Randolph, Randle will probably be a talented player who puts up numbers, but I value defense and rebounding, especially from the PF/big position. That brand of basketball has won more championships than having an undersized PF as your #1 option and ball dominant player.
I like his demeanor bettter than Boozer/Randolph and don’t think he is as selfish as them. He seems like a smart kid and a good guy, the measurements sure didn’t hurt him today, he will still go top 7-probably higher, but I prefer Vonleh.

ConezdParticipantI do think Vonleh will be a good pro, but that wasn’t the point of my original post. I also think it’s funny you said you’d rather have a Bosh over Boozer or Z-Bo but then said you’d want the better rebounder and defender when those are in fact Bosh’s biggest weaknesses as a PF. But I digress. I see Vonleh as a good starting PF putting up career bests at about 17-18 pts and 7.5-9 birds a game. I think Randle will be a 20 and 10 career guy. The Z-Bo with elite athletism is a great comparison. But he also handles the ball great for a PF and has the ability to hit mid range jumpers. Couple that with his tenacity and awesome motor, and his confidence, I think it’ll be a surprise (at least to me) if he ends up a bust.

jwall1ParticipantVonleh the better rebounder than Randle? Did you watch any college basketball this year? And Randle was not put in a system that allowed him to showcase his midrange game, but he is an above average shooter for a big.

imAboutDatActionParticipantim not sure he solidified it but he sure didnt hurt himself.
people at the combine were still saying GM’s favor Vonleh over him. theres alot to like about Vonleh and after digging deep into the numbers and measureables, he should be the player higher on teams big boards.
Vonleh is the better shooter, rebounds at the same rate, better defender and has better measureables.

anthonymatthew24ParticipantGreat freshman season, ability to play face up, back to the basket is improving, can hit the mid range J, leaded his team through a marvelous and unexpected NCAA run and now is taller and has a better wingspan than expected. With that said I think he might go Top 5 depending how the lottery turns out…

Magic JordanParticipantI have Randle as my favorite PF prospect in this draft. Don’t get me wrong, Vonleh has all of the prototypical tools, but to me he just seems to be more Tristan Thompson than Chris Bosh. Bosh was dominating in college, I think the appeal of Vonleh right now tends to be more on his physical tools rather than production. I think the open floor game of the NBA is going to do wonders for Randle.
I think Vonleh will be serviceable, but not a franchise player…. of course I have been wrong a ton of times.

jwall1ParticipantI think his performance throughout the tournament solidified his position as a top 5 pick, but his size is better than expected so that will definitely help him.

DipoTimeParticipantI’m definitely a big fan of Randle’s. The only thing that stood out as "bad" was his shockingly small hands. That’s one thing down low that can hurt you with catching and finishing but I really don’t see that being much of a problem with his strength.

aramboneParticipantI definitely wouldn’t say Randle locked down a top 5 spot. Might as well say Randle will definitely be picked before Marcus Smart, and you’d be out on a limb to say so.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantCombine these measurables with his tournament play, all he needs now is above average athletic testings and he is a lock for top 5 IMO. I don’t think there is any one after Embiid, Wiggins and Parker that is clearly better then him. He’s front of the pack of that next group of guys to me.
