Anybody heard anything about Jordan Mcrae?  Any teams interested? What’s his draft range?

Well this site doesn’t have him on the mock anymore but I have him going late 2nd. I could see him lighting it up in the summer league but I see him as a poor mans Jordan Crawford.

As of right now it doesn’t look like he’s getting drafted. The only thing he can do now is hopefully convince NBA scouts to spend a 2nd rounder on him (I heard Philly has about 20 of them) by impressing at workouts. If he doesn’t get drafted he can always try the D-League, but ultimately it doesn’t look too good for him, which is unfortunate, because I really liked him at Tennessee.

But Nick Young is right. What usually happens in the second round is many teams draft European players who are eligible by default in case they develop or are interested in coming to the NBA. They don’t have to pay them a contract and can essentially chose when they want to pursue them (ie. they have a rotation spot to fill, the player developed dramatically over the course of the season). This dynamic makes it incredible hard for players like McRae to get drafted in the second round, but there is a slim chance he goes in the back end of the 2nd round. Don’t be surprised if he heads over to Europe or maybe the D League though.
