The Pistons are using him at the 5 during SL play. One of the Assistant coaches said he reminds him of David Lee. Can this guy really play a 5 in the league? or does he back up Chuck V at the 4?

The Pistons are also looking for cheap size in Drew Gooden, Joe Smith and Chris Wilcox. Should they make a move on one of these 3? I don’t see why they would not want to try and trade Rip for a decent 5 who could still surprise (Chandler or Kaman).

    Thoughts?

I like Wilcox alot. He is big energy. Smith is talented but older and slow. Im not a big Gooden fan.

I think Candler will be perfect on the Pistons and they shouldn’t sign any of those 3 because they have Austin Daye who can spread the floor with his range.

I agree on Wilcox, but to me Chandler makes the most sense. If he can stay healthy, he could really shine for the Pistons. They need to trade Rip because Gordon is not going to want to come off the bench again. With Chandler and wo Rip, they cannot compete with the Magic or the Cavs, but they are basically one superstar away from being real young and real scary.

    pg – Stuckey, Bynum
    sg – Gordon, Afflalo
    sf – Prince, Daye, Summers
pf – Chuck V, Maxiell, Jerebko
    c – CHandler/ Wilcox, Kwame Brown

Not too bad, but not amazing yet.

Yes they should trade Rip for Chandler or Kaman.
No they shouldn’t waste money on Gooden, Wilcox, or Joe Smith
If they are going to sign a free agent post player they shoud go after Big Baby

I have watched these summer league games…… Jerebko can no way in hell play Center in the NBA. I don’t think he can play PF either. He can’t even come close to guarding guys like Garnett, Bosh, Lewis, etc… I’m not sure Jerebko is going to make it in the NBA. He didn’t look that impressive to me. Summers has a better chance at playing PF than Jerebko does. David Lee is a lot better than Jerebko. Jerebko won’t be able to defend or score on the nba level. He looked like a pretty good rebounder but that is in summer league.

Jerebko is alot like David Lee, thats a good comparison. He is a backup PF. And Chris Wilcox would be a good fit in Detroit. And Gooden is a decent fit for any team because he can start for stretches or come off the bench, and he provides rebounding, defense and decent scoring.

I think the reason Dumars is hesitant on making a move for Chandler or Kaman is that he may be able to get Bosh or Amare in a deal this year. Plus he may just want the cap next summer to sign a center other than Chandler or Kaman. Chandler has 2 years left and Kaman has 3 years left.

Dumars could just keep the team he has for now, deal Rip, Tay and Maxiell for expiring deals in Febr. and have about 30 million to spend next summer.

Pistons in July 2010 would have 30 million in cap plus Ben, Charlie, Stuckey, Daye, Summers, Jerebko, 2010 1st round pick and possibly Deron Washington under contract. If they spend that 30 million properly they’ll be a legit contender for an NBA title shortly. They’ll still have to go through Lebron…..but in 2 years Timmy, KG and Kobe will be wearing out. Orlando is just not that good.

I actually think that Detroit has a weird roster. All the money they were able to save up from bringing over Iverson so far ha turned into Charlie V and Ben Gordon. Is that the best Dumars can do? He is destroying a lot of good work that he has done in shaping the roster since he got there.

I think if they can get Chandler, then that’s who they need. They need more defense and rebounding. As of right now, I see this team getting absolutely manhandled by other teams. Gordon and Stuckey will get lit up night after night and they are going to get destroyed in the post. As of right now, I’m thinking Charlie V is their center and Maxiel is the power forward? Hopefully they get a nice draft position next year.

You need to start reading player profiles Jerebko doesn’t play anything like David Lee,he more in the mold tweener sf/pf than pf/sf more of a perimeter face up foward than Lee,unlike most euro players Jerebko would play in the states in the D.C area in summer leagues.I think he has a great chance at making the league

Jerebko has some potential. I think is a SF. However, I don’t think he is going to stay with the Pistons for too long. The Pistons have a log jam at SF. Prince, Summer, Daye, Jerebko……It seems Jerebko is last on that depth chart right now.

Jerebko has to work on his jumpshot. He has great form but shoots to slow. He has been having trouble getting his shot off in summer league. He surprised me though at how physical he plays. Looks like an above average athlete when compared to other Euro players.

I would take Jerebko over Washington. Deron is athletic and can get to the rim but he is a terrible passer and doesn’t have a consistent jumpshot.

Deron Washington will never play for them. He is an athletic freak, but he isnt good at anything else.

The Issue is they have no PG or C.

They should try to trade Prince and Hamilton. Jerebko is a stud. He can really play. I saw like 2 or 3 games and he has the John Salley/ Vinnie Johnson type game.

    He does everything pretty well/
