47 points lol in yesterdays impact game and is averaging 43.3 ppg in his 3 games there dude is really killin it. In the article I saw it basically said his open court speed is something nobody can keep up with….what a gift to just be that fast with a ball!

The most impressive thing I’ve been hearing about is his improved jumpshot. Man… IF this kid even gets an average jumpshot, it’s over… I mean, it just wouldn’t be fair for the competition.

This kid is going to be special. He’s got the speed and athleticism of Rose, but has better court vision/passing ability and isn’t shy/quiet. He’s got Gary Payton/Jason Kidd type height, with Rondo type length. He’s got Westbrook’s live wire ability, but with more control.

I mean, I just think he’s the total package and with his work ethic and humble, yet hungry, mentality… The sky is the limit.

Lol yea off topic but I remember somebody on here arguing that wall was quiet and didn’t talk crap, dude has a mouth on him.

But I agree if his jumper has improved as much as they claim then it’s over, I don’t really take these summer league pick up games as doing anything, I mean kyle Lowry scored 44 points in a game last week, but I hope it translates to the season for wall just like everyone else.

I don’t even care about Wall’s stat line… Just the fact he’s showing more confidence in his jumper and knocking it down.

And you can look as his body improvement and tell he’s been working hard… He’s jacked.

I’m expecting a BIG soph season from him, especially considering his knee is 100%.

This is why we need the season to start on time. Wall and the Wizards are looking like a possible playoff team in the East. Wall has clearly stepped up his game, and his jumper is looking a lot better, though probably just the mid-range, I don’t think he’s there from 3 yet. Also, Jordan Crawford has looked great too, he was a real steal for the Wizards, and I can see him taking the starting spot from Nick Young this season. When you consider that they are bringing in two athletic defensive players in Vesely and Singleton this just look better and better.

So many young teams on the cusp of making that big leap, we need a season.

I don’t know about the playoffs, but they should be better this season.

Looks like Wall has been getting some pretty good mentoring from Chauncey Billups @ Impact.

“I just think the speed that he has is unmatched,” New York Knicks point guard Chauncey Billups, who matched up with Wall on Tuesday, scoring 38 points through the first three quarters. “Him and Derrick Rose, maybe.”

In three games in Las Vegas, Wall has displayed more confidence in his jumper, but he has mostly used his exceptional speed and athleticism to get to the basket for layups and dunks. Wall has put up some monstrous scoring performances, averaging 43.3 points, but he has yet to lead the Wizards’ “G team” to a win. He had 42 points in his debut and 41 the next night last week, but after Tuesday’s game, some veterans noted that Wall still has to learn how and when to use his quickness.

Billups used the game as an opportunity to pass along a few tricks of the trade to Wall. If Wall got around him off screens, Billups quickly grabbed his off hand to make sure that Wall couldn’t get off the shot, realizing that referees usually don’t make that call. If Wall played him closely on defense, Billups would grab his arm and use him as a springboard to move forward and break free for jumpers or layups. As Jordan Crawford put it, “Chauncey went vet on us and killed us.”

“I’m giving tips to John as we’re playing, knowing that it’s going to affect me, because I’ve got to guard him. But I’m trying to make him better, thinking and seeing the right things,” said Billups, who sat out the fourth quarter and let his teammates finish off the game as he rested a sore right ankle. “I’ve been a solid defender for some time, because of little tricks, being smart. It’s little things like that. He’s like yeah, ‘I got to get that.’ I’m not nowhere near fast as that young boy. But little tricks get you by. I’m like, ‘If you can get all that, with what you got? Trouble.’”

Billups continued: “I’m a big fan of John Wall, man,” Billups said. “So athletic, got a great understanding of the game. Wants to win. Listens. I think he’s going to be a great player. Shooting the ball a lot better. Getting confidence in his shot. I think he’s going to be a stud.”

After hitting the deck hard so many times throughout the game, New York Knicks point guard Chauncey Billups and former NBA player Damon Jones shouted from the bench as Wall went to the foul line.

“I said, ‘Man you got to start wearing pads or something man, man, like [Dwyane] Wade or something, man. You can’t be hitting the deck that much. You’re going to be in the training room, boy,” Billups said after the game.

Jones slapped parts of his body and shouted, “You need knee pads. Elbow pads.”

Yea… I do agree with Billups.

One thing I’ve always said about Wall since high school is he doesn’t really have a "change of pace" to his game yet. He’s just straight blinding fast. He has to learn how to use his speed and quickness. D. Rose has amazing change of pace, which just makes him damn near undefendable.

Once Wall gets that, he’ll be even more amazing.

^^^Wall needs to improve his ball-handling though. When he drives to the basket, his handle isn’t tight enough to pull the ball back out and he’s forced to shoot the layup no matter how difficult it. He needs to start watching some Steve Nash. He can’t even change the pace of his dribble. He plays at one speed and he dribble the ball high and in front of his ankles. A PG doing that that is the equivalent of a a SG that can’t shoot. His handle and center of gravity are way  too high for a PG.

He has all the tools to become the best PG, and his potential in MVP if he works on his weaknesses.

At worst case scenario, Wall could be the next Kevin Johnson, which isn’t a bad thing, and best case scenario, he could be better than Derrick Rose, if he keeps improving his game

Wall will improve next year, no doubt. He has franchise player intangibles and talent, and his speed is obviously at as high a level as any player in the NBA. He’s big for a PG now with nice length and he’s possibly still growing.

But he has to work on that jumper. He has to work on his handle. He has to get more than 1 gear. He’s improved his mid-range game, and I’ve always felt his mid-range pull-up was underrated or at least promising, even at Kentucky. He can get wherever he wants because of his speed, but he’s often out of control and he can be inefficient and overly turnover prone. He has more than  his share of real wild play in the halfcourt game. I feel that he will always be turnover prone because he’s so fast and aggressive, but almost 4 topg? That’s ALOT, even for a rookie PG. I don’t doubt him though, he’s already proven he’s a worker and the fact that he can produce like he has despite a fairly unpolished skill-set shows that he will be a scary player down the line.

Ompa, Vesly is athletic, but I hope you aren’t expecting him to be a "defensive player". There isn’t much history supporting European players coming in and even playing average NBA defense.

But yeah, I’m ready to watch some Wizard games. No doubt there.

I think Vesely will be a good defender from day one. He’s not your regular European player.

@TallmanNYC; Vesely was drafted with a reputation of being raw offensively but a solid defender, hardly think it’s a stretch to bill him as such now.

Looking at the Eastern Conference, it’s unlikely they’ll actually be in the top 8 with a much better depth of talent there these days, that said, the Wizards could be sitting around 9th in the East and at least be considered a "playoff worthy" team.

They have great length at most positions, especially at the 3/4/5, a potential superstar in Wall, some very good scorers in Blatche, Crawford and Young, and great depth at most positions. If you take a good hard look at Washington’s roster, it’s not hard to imagine them making a Thunder-type leap into contention in a couple years, and start threatening this season.

Of course, it all comes down to John Wall, but people have been raving about his jumper all summer, so maybe he’ll get to a point where he’s comfortable faster than Derrick Rose even.
