Lotto StudParticipantWho do you think is an ideal comparison for Wall other than Derrick Rose? I see Wall as a new breed just like Rose where there should be none.

flybobbyflyParticipantWhen my friend showed me walls highlights on youtube a few years ago, he said that wall the best point guard since jason kidd. not a comparison so much, more of a statement implying he cant be compared.
Rose is a fair comparison to wall but i feel like he significantly falls short of walls court sense and passing ability.0 - Posted on: Thu, 09/02/2010 - 6:33am #392398

omphalosParticipantWall is a better passing point guard than Rose, but Rose is a better player to me. I was decidedly unimpressed with Wall’s showing in the NCAA tournament. You could tell they were losing control of the game, but Wall couldn’t step it up a notch and take over. I don’t judge him for just that, but I’ll let him earn it in the NBA before I dub him incomparable.
@flybobbyfly: what country you from man? I always seem to be posting around the same time as you.

durantula83ParticipantA faster but less polished Penny Hardaway. If you didn’t see him play back in his first 2 season then check him out on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUyMQiF435M

sacphil_08ParticipantJohn wall is comparable to is derrick rose and rajon rondo and even the derrick rose comparison isnt completely accurate. Rose and wall are superior atheletes but their games are alot different. Rose is more of a scoring point guard that can be a point guard whereas john wall is more of a point guard that can be a scorer. Wall is comparable to rondo because he’s long and has the potential to fit the ‘rondo mold’ defensively and as a distributor. He’s a mix of rondo and rose actually. The same as rondo with the athleticism of rose. His potential is frightening to think about

sammybuckeye13ParticipantSo hard to compare. I’d say statistically he’ll be a lot like Derrick Rose but averaging more assists, and while their scoring numbers might be very comparable he won’t be over to take over games on offense like Rose. Rose’s combination of size and strength allows him to go into beast mode occasionally, getting to the basket whenever he wants, where Wall right now really just has the speed and he doesn’t have the jumper to take over yet.

JNixonParticipantTo me, John Wall reminds of Dwyane Wade.
Probably not popular to make that comparison though….Oh well

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantTo me… I’d say Wall has to play some NBA games before I can accurately compare him to other, more seasoned players.

JoeWolf1I like the Westbrook comparison best. I think he’ll make more of an impact as a rookie, for obvious pt reasons and I think Wall is a littlel more advanced than Westbrook at the same stage, but I think John Wall is going to be a 16 and 8 player right off the bat which was around what Westbrook was last year. Similar games, similar athletic ability, and I project similar stats.

Lotto StudParticipantIs it fair for Wall to get the Rose comparison & for Rose to get the Wade comparison? They are their own type of PG’s IMO.

midwestbbscoutParticipantJason Kidd….if you go back any more than 5 years it has to be a 2 guard…..they just don’t make em like they used to….
