don042488ParticipantThe Celtics traded veteran center Joel Anthony, to the Detroit Pistons for point guard Will Bynum…I think this a win-win for both teams…The Celtics saves some money, $900, 000 to be exact, plus Bynum is an upgrade over Phil Pressey as a 3rd string point guard/ backup to Marcus Smart until Rondo gets healthy…I think the addition of Bynum means Pressey gets waived…For the Pistons who’s rumored to be going after Chase Budinger of the Minnesota TimerberWolves, acquiring Joel Anthony all but assures the player their likely going to give away for Chase is Jonas Jerebko…By acquiring Anthony, they replace a big man and get a shot blocker with championship experience. Minor deal that will help both teams

King CaluchaParticipantI like Will Bynum. I think he’s a decent backup.

TRC1991ParticipantThis could also mean that we could see Spencer Dinwiddie sooner than previously imagined

ExumInfernoParticipantWill Bynum may have started his NBA career in Boston, as an undrafted free agent but he didn’t play a game. Now he returns, but just as a cheaper contract than the one that was sent out.
Detroit get more depth inside, and maybe they think Anthony can teach Drummond some defensive tricks, although Drummond probably knows most of them.
The interesting game to play is to pick which player Boston will waive to get to the roster limit. Bynum, Pressey, D Powell, Faverani, one of those will have to go. E Murphy is likely to be sent out which would get them down to 16 players.
