OhCanada-ParticipantThere is no reason Vince Carter should be on your list. Jason Kidd is way too low.
Also I find it interesting that no L.A. Clippers players are on this list and the list is fairly accurate, people seem to be overrating the Clips this year. They are still the same old unharnessed talent L.A. Clippers.

the fanParticipantKevin Garnett, Jason Kidd, Kevin Love are all much much too high I think. the rest of it looks good to me. Good job.
EDIT: Yao at 8 is a little high for a guy who hasn’t played in a year and most likely won’t ever be the same again.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 9:43am #364239
Dubs30ParticipantAl Jefferson and Stephen Jackson should be rated lower. Why is Al Horford number 49? I’m not being biased, but no way Jennings is above Curry. And where is David Lee?

Put Russell Westbrook In
I Dont Like Amar’e At 15 i still think Duncan is better than him
I Dont Think Curry is Better Than Ellis Yet
I Dont Like Rashard Lewis There
Kevin Martin Averaged 20.6ppg and aaron brooks 19.6ppg and 5.3apg

Da1potParticipantPlayers that should be on here
1. Russell Westbrook-
2.Chris Kaman- averages better stats than Brook Lopez, top 3 center based on stats
3. David Lee- 20.2 and 11.7, 54 double doubles
4. Ray Allen- Still a great player in my opinion, may be old, but still produces and is the best shooter in the game. Continues to be underrated.
5. Aaron Brooks- I can understand all the hype behind Jennings, But Brooks has better stats and will likely average more assists with the return of YaoI think that Bogut is way too high, considering Kaman is not even on the list and that Rashard Lewis should not be on there at all.
But overall, great list Iggy, people need to realize how difficult it is to make one of these!

and since your doing this for players at full health Bynum has to be on this list because hes better than horford and gasol for sure0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 10:42am #364283
Tyreke JohnsonParticipantIt is hard to say the top 3 or 4 are pretty much locked with Durant, Wade, Lebron and Kobe but after that it is just a matter of preference or opinion, everybody’s top 50 will be different some way or another I guarantee it,

GrandmamaParticipantEven though John Wall hasn’t played a game, some of the PG’s you guys are putting ahead of him are not as good. Wall is better than Aaron Brooks, Jameer Nelson, and Brandon Jennings. A lot of people sell Wall short on this site and I’m not sure why. I would assume it’s b/c he turns the ball over too much and isn’t the greatest long rang shooter. Those are probably two of the easier aspects of a players game that can improve upon entering the NBA. I don’t see any problems with Wall averaging 18ppg 7-8apg 4rpg 2stl’s in his rookie year, along with all of his intangibles he is in the top 50. His ability to get into the lane at will and draw fouls could actually allow him to average up to 20 his rookie year. This kid is going to be a superstar and has to be mentioned in the top 50 already even without playing a game. Stop selling him short.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 11:59am #364389
GrandmamaParticipantRashard Lewis is a one dimensional player now and shouldn’t be in the top 50, didn’t you see his performance in the playoffs? At this point in his career he is only a spot up shooter who is a defensive liability.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 12:00pm #364390
R-Dot-13ParticipantUmm sorry what?
“This kid is going to be a superstar and has to be mentioned in the top 50 already even without playing a game. Stop selling him short”
Are you kidding me?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 12:06pm #364393
JNixonParticipantI’ll just be patient. I’m not going to put a rookie in my current NBA players list before the season starts. I also didn’t include Jameer Nelson or Aaron Brooks in my list, so maybe that was directed at someone else.
Also, I have a hard time believing Wall will be better than Brandon Jennings next season. Wall’s rookie numbers will probably look about the same as Jennings’ rookie numbers, with less accuracy from 3-point land, more turnovers, and better FG%. I think Jennings will make a leap to elite level status next season though, so I don’t think Wall is better right now or at least for the next 2 years.
Rashard Lewis struggled in the Celtic series, but I personally believe he’s at least a top 50 player in the NBA. The guy could be around 20 ppg and 7 rpg player if he played on certain teams I’d say. And that team would be a playoff team too. He’s a capable 2nd option, on a contending team
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 12:11pm #364407
RafterParticipantIt isn’t easy to compile a list of the best 50 players in the NBA. It’s easy for people to say “This guy is too high” etc etc but it takes time to research the information and then to put one guy over the other takes even more time. I don’t think anyone would have a list everyone would agree with, but it’s interesting to see people’s opinion on these kind of topics.

What made you decide to rank Kobe above LeBron? For the longest, you’ve said LeBron was better.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 1:59pm #364478
JNixonParticipantSomething called…..the playoffs my friend. I have come to the realization that Lebron is better in the regular season, but Kobe has the killer instinct when it matters. For now (I think Kobe will decline in 2 years or so) Kobe Bryant is better than Lebron IMO, since Kobe will rise and be a champion.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI think Durant is a little too high.
Based on quarters 1-3, he’s the 4th best player in the league… However, he’s not nearly as good in the 4th quarter.
I’d put Paul, Howard, Williams and Dirk above him until I see his improvement next season. And has he really passed up Melo as a player? I’m not sure…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 2:50pm #364535
JNixonParticipantI think so…He’s 21 and lead the NBA in scoring. And he’s good for 7 rpg too. Durant deserves top 5 mention, and I think he has become the 4th best player in the NBA. He’s only going to get better too. I think he will lead the NBA in scoring next season too. He’s better than any SF not named Lebron James right now.

IndianaBasketballParticipantThose things are true about Durant, but you can’t ignore how much he drops off in the 4th quarter. Look at the numbers… They don’t lie.
He drops in almost every category… Points, FG%, 3-PT%, etc. He’s not the same player in the 4th quarter, but he’ll get better. That’s why I said I have to wait and see how improves there this upcoming season.
I also think he’s someone who can still be taken out of his game with physical play (see Ron Artest in first round). He still needs work on creating for his teammates (at least being respectable there) and on the defensive end.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 3:19pm #364562
Mr. BasketballParticipantDid Eric Gordon fall off the face of the earth??? I mean people O.J. Mayo at 33 and Gordon is not even in the top 50? are you kidding me? And Brandon Jennings is ridiculously overrated. After his great start he cooled down tremendously and shot a terrible percentage. How is he better than Gordon? And Kaman getting no mention on the first list on here? are you kidding me? Its not like he was just an all-star last year…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 3:28pm #364575
JNixonParticipantI personally believe if O.J. Mayo was on the Clippers, he’d average 20 ppg. Kobyz has him 33, which is a reach, but I do believe O.J. Mayo is a better player than Eric Gordon though
Brandon Jennings is going to be better than Gordon next year too.
Chris Kaman isn’t all that great to me. I probably would replace him with l Horford if I could (at #49), but Kaman isn’t an elite big man. He’s above average, but nothing to get terribly worked up about. I wouldn’t be upset if Kaman was left out of anyone’s top 50.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 3:29pm #364576
llperezi would take kaman over rashard lewis in a heart beat.

Bryant24ParticipantI advise yall not to sleep on jennings dude is a beast and he has a very good work ethic
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 3:33pm #364579
IndianaBasketballParticipantI’m not high on Kaman either, but he’s definitely a top 50 player.
And I highly doubt Mayo would average 20 on the Clippers. He’d be in the same exact situation as Gordon… Stuck behind two veteran players in the pecking order… A ball dominant point guard in Davis and a center, who slowly became a blackhole last season, in Kaman.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 3:35pm #364581
IndianaBasketballParticipantJennings is a good young player, but to say he’s the 34th best player in the entire NBA right now is crazy… The same goes for Stephen Curry.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 3:46pm #364590
JNixonParticipantMayo plays with Rudy Gay and Zach Randolph, 2 players that average more ppg over Davis and Kaman repsectively, and are ball-dominant as well, and still was better across the board than Eric Gordon. Chris Kaman and Baron Davis aren’t as ball-dominant as those 2 by any stretch. I think Mayo could average right at 20 ppg in that offense.
And look for Jennings and Curry to make leaps. I think they will be the #’s they are right now by the end of the season. This isn’t based directly on their performance last season. Where they are right now is how I think they will be heading into next season until the end of the season. If you think conservatively, don’t make a list like this. That’s all I can say.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 6:20pm #364718
Mr. BasketballParticipantwell when mayo and gordon play against each other, why does gordon always out play him? both on offense and defense…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 6:23pm #364721
JNixonParticipantTell you the same way I told butidonthavemoney…..You can’t base whether a player is better than another player off of a single individual matchup. There are 28 starting other SG’s in the NBA besides these 2, and Mayo was slightly better at everything cumulatively last season. So, I think Mayo is better.

WhyParticipantMan Yao Ming at 8 is a travesty. I totally agree with that 2 years ago, but he even said himself he won’t be the same this year or anytime real soon. So as far as top players right now. I think maybe, MAYBE he should crack 50. Think about it.

DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantWhat does LeBron do better than Wade?
passing?
Wade’s shot is better, not even close. maybe one day Lebron will learn how to shoot…probably not…hasn’t developed in 7 years very much.
Wade has a better handle/crossover….LeCrab is too busy takin 5 steps every play and crab dribbling all over the place.
Wade has a killer instict, LeBron doesn’t and is a quiter.
Wade is clutch, LeBron isn’t obviously…
Wade has better one on one defense….LeBron’s defensive is horribly overrated because of his chase down blocks….he’s ok 1 on 1.I just think the media puts it in your heads to think he’s better and up there with Kobe. and now guess what….Lebron is going to be Wade’s sidekick. Real basketball heads take Wade EVERYTIME! He will play on WADE’s team. Who takes that game winning shot? Wade….Eric Spoelstra will get the shot before LeBrick.
Lebron will never have the ability to do something like Wade did vs Dallas.
