I know it sounds like a crazy question but I’m quickly becoming a fan of jimmy butler. He’s improved so much from college and I feel he’s a legit map candidate for the way he’s somewhat led the Bulls this season in drose absence. and kawhi Leonard is a really good player but I’d take butler offense over his at this point. Idk just food for thought. Your thoughts?

Jimmy Buckets. Both elite defensively (Kwahi probably has the edge), but Butler is a better scorer at this point.

Butler…Both great players, but Kawhi doesn’t have the repertoire of offensive moves that Butler has.

Amazing to think that just 6 months ago I was clowning on people who were calling him Jimmy Buckets saying "don’t you have to be good on offense first?"

He’s certainly lived up to that nickname and then some. Certified all-star.

I would take Butler, He plays good D and offense game is better. I’ve seen him takeover games this year. Kawhi plays for a good "system" not sure how he good (not saying he wouldn’t be good) he would be playing on another team. We’ve seen Spurs excel under Pop and go to other teams and it’s not the same.

I get this right now, but I think you have to consider a bit that they are two years apart in age. Jimmy didn’t fully break out to his age 25 season. That’s still two years away for Kawhi. I think Kawhi will continue to develop and who knows where his offensive repertoire will be in two years and how that compares to the jump Butler just made.

It’s an intriguing decision but I bet overall GM’s would be rather split on the decision overall.

I’d probably go with Butler as well right now, but he’s playing and having a career year, while Leonard has been out with eye and hand issues. So it’s really hard to say since Leonard hasn’t been on the floor. I do think Leonard would be having the best season of his career if not for the injuries.

I don’t know, I’m loving Jimmy Buckets play right now but I’d still take Kawhi. Kawhi is 2 years younger, so if he keeps improving at the same rate he has, he will be amazing in 2 year at 25 just like Jimmy Butler. Also in the Spurs system it’s kind of hard to see Kawhi Leonard’s full output. Kawhi is averaging 15 points on 12 shots in 32 minutes this year, while Jimmy is averaging 22 on 15 in 40 minutes per game. Which that 3 shot difference may not seem crazy, but in that extra 8 minutes Jimmy gets to drive to the basket and draw fouls more. I don’t know i’d like to see Kawhi in a non spurs system, or Kawhi in 2 years when Tim Duncan and Ginobli may be gone, and he is most likely 1A with Tony Parker.

Jimmy Butler is a better offensive player than Kawhi Leonard off the dribble, and that makes a ton of difference with impact of skill in the game between the comparison.
