Look for Kevin Ollie to become head coach of the Huskies

UConn men’s basketball coach Jim Calhoun’s retirement is imminent, according to a source close to the coach.
Calhoun, 70, has coached the Huskies to three national championships in his 26-year-tenure as head coach. His last title came in 2011. UConn won national championships in 1999 and 2004 as well.
Calhoun told NBC Connecticut’s Kevin Nathan Wednesday that nothing official has been finalized.
"Don’t be surprised by anything, even this week," Calhoun said.
It is a matter of Calhoun and his agent "dotting the ‘i’s’ and crossing the ‘t’s’," according to the source.
A second source said Calhoun wants to meet with his players in person before any announcement is made.
UConn faces a postseason ban for the 2012-2013 season for failing to maintain an NCAA academic requirement for the 2007-2010 seasons. Calhoun’s plans for the future became more uncertain after coach fractured his hip when he fell during a bike ride in August.
In addition to his three national titles, Calhoun has seven Big East Tournament titles, four Final Four appearances and has won more than 600 games at UConn. He was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005.
It has been no secret that Calhoun wants his former player and current assistant coach Kevin Ollie to succeed him as head coach, but UConn Athletic Director Warde Manuel has said there is no coach-in-waiting when Calhoun retires.

UNCbasketballbumParticipantThree national championships, 1999, 2004 and 2011. The 1999 national championship game between Duke and Uconn was one of the greatest college basketball games ever played. Duke was absolutely stacked with Elton Brand, William Avery, Corey Maggette, and Trajan Langdon. Richard Hamilton was unconscious in that game and Ricky Moore thwarted Trajan Langdon at the end for Uconn to take the title. Calhoun is one of the greatest college basketball coaches of all time who consistenly had top level talent come to the bustling metropolis of Storrs, Connecticut.
