How good can Jeremy Lamb & Perry Jones III could be on the OKC next year??? Should they be in a good key player off the bench???

Jeremy Lamb case he should get alot PT next year off the bench instead garbage minutes if Kevin Martin leaves the OKC this year free agent my opinion is they should start off good minutes off the bench then easy him along into starting lineups and he might have break out year too. PJIII case he should get some PT minutes too they going to maybe lose one or two big man off then he could be another good player off bench once get used to bang with pro instead the d-league.

They need to get traded… Okc not gonna use them right, they have to much potential to sit on the bench.

I am a fan of Kevin Martin, but he is going to command too much money when we could just play Lamb for a fraction of the price. Lamb has a lot of talent and was just buried behind the depth of the Thunder last year, but he just start getting some minutes next year. I hope the Thunder move up and grab Zeller though. He just seems like a perfect fit for the Thunder.

Jeremy Lamb can get a lot of PT if Kevin Martin goes to another team. Not sure if PJ will get the PT they have big men and they are thinking about drafting a big man..

Lamb will get his chance soon. He was the key piece to the Harden deal. He’s gonna have his chance because OKC wants to show that they got a core piece in return.
I doubt Martin re-signs. OKC says that they don’t plan on amnestying Perkins. It’s tough for a smaller market owner to just pay someone to go away. Yes they avoid the luxury tax, but for an owner amnestying a player is just like paying a luxury tax without the additional penalties. Ibaka’s extension kicks in next yr, which will put them right around the luxury tax threshold again. Lamb WILL have a bigger role next yr, with the emergence of Reggie Jackson, Lamb might not be the 6th man, but he’ll be counted on for scoring off the bench next yr.

I’m less optimistic about PJ3’s near term future though. I don’t see what role he can play for that team and quite frankly I don’t think he’s all that good.

Every job in the NBA is always BPA. Show they’re deserving and they’ll play.

At the moment PJ3 and Lamb aren’t better then the players they’re trying to steal playing time from. With a great offseason that could change.

I still don’t know what he is. He has a decent midrange and has good length, but I don’t know anything else he does at an NBA level yet. Is he going to be a sub for Durant at the 3, or will he be stuck behind Ibaka and Collison at the 4?

OKC is going to be great to watch during summer league. They will take the 2-3 picks they select this year and play them alongside PJ3, Lamb, and possibly Jackson. Lamb crushed it last year in summer league for Houston. I can’t wait to see what kind of chemistry the two have playing together. Lamb specifically though is going to be the man on the team. I want to see how he handles it.

The book on Lamb is that he is an excellent shooter, but sometimes looks lost out there and doesn’t play a ton of d. Is there even a book on PJ3 at this point?

I feel like if they do make a move with one of their lower picks it will be packaged with PJ3 and not Lamb, though I definitely think it is too early to make any definitive statements about him. But as he continues to sit and not gain minutes, his value will suffer and hinder what OKC can get back for him. This would be the perfect time to unload him as his value is still relatively high. But if another season goes by without him playing much I have a feeling teams will begin undervaluing him.

In all honesty, I think that PJ3 is best suited as a SF. I think that he has the guard skills in order to be a 3 in the league, and he would have extraordinary length at that position. He has a decent mid-range game, but he has to extend that out to the 3 point line. I feel that he will learn a lot from Durant as they both are basically 7′ small forwards, and they both have solid offensive games (Durant is definitely more than solid). I think Jones is a great talent and he would be nice to be a backup to Durant, and even play with Durant when they go small ball. He probably won’t get too much playing time this year, unfortunately, as they will probably play Sefolosha at the 3 at times like they did last year. However, I feel that he is a nice asset that they should keep as injuries could happen (as we have seen what happened to Westbrook). In terms of Jeremy Lamb, I agree with the bunch of you. I believe he will be the 6th man next year and provide a scoring punch. He will probably have a year similar to James Harden’s rookie year at OKC, and then continue to develop from there.

Going Up Against Durant,Westbrook and Martin in Practice everyday will make them better..I thought Lamb might’ve averaged 8 to 12 pts a gm last yr if he was given the minutes….

Perry Jones was mentioned as a possible top pick coming out of high school..But he’s been 1 of the most overhyped players in recent memory..Im not sure what position he’ll play..But his athleticism and length might make him a good activity player…..A guy that can come off the bench to defend, tip ins,run the floor, block shots and get dunks to excite the crowd and teammates…

Like many tweeners he would be better defensively at the 3 but better offensively at the 4 using his quickness to take bigger slower 4s off the dribble. I really liked Perry as a prospect but OKC probably isn’t the best place for him. Brooks doesn’t really play young guys big minutes. He was playing Derek Fisher over Reggie Jackson until Westbrook got hurt which was mind boggling to me.

If Martin doesn’t resign that clearly opens up some chances for Lamb and with Durant and Westbrook getting all the attention of the defense he could have a good year. If Martin does return that once again will leave Lamb on the bench all year until garbage time. I think if you are OKC you MUST play and develop guys like Jackson, Lamb and PJ3 to take the next step to be a championship team.

i disagree, offensively he’d be better using his post moves, which are quite good, against smaller sf’s.

      heres a little sample.

This highlight shows exactly what I am talking about at the 40 second mark when he drives right around Taj Gibson for a layup.

It shows one post up as well (also with Gibson guarding him) so it doesn’t really prove much of anything. He will also get more open mid range jumpers with bigger guys guarding him so I would say attacking the basket and midrange jumpshots are much more of a strength for Jones at this point than his post game is.

Now that Ibaka has really improved his midrange game, and signed a nice extension, I don’t see PJIII providing a different look in key game moments. He has the potential to be a face up stretch 4, but he’s never been much of a defender and he’s not rugged like Collison to give a different look on the floor. Right now, he can shoot like Ibaka and Collison but he can’t play defense like they do, so he’s not going to get big minutes next year. He probably won’t play in the D-League, but I’d be surprised if his MPG goes up to above 10 or 11 per.
