what the hell first he says this——

Hey wasup everybody – We just got back from Barcelona, Spain, where we had a huge Euro League game. It was a great trip overall. The food and city are amazing. We got to Spain around 7pm Wed night. As soon as we checked into the hotel we had a team meeting and team dinner. I then bounced to do a few media requests with Ricky Rubio. I was able to spend a few hours with Ricky, he was really cool, he speaks English very well. Just like me he has a ton of energy and loves playing the game of basketball. He showed up to the media blitz with his Mom and Dad, he has really nice parents. We talked for a few minutes. It was funny because I was signing my Jersey for someone and Ricky says to me “You are left handed”. It was funny because he was already sizing me up for the game. What I noticed is that Ricky also writes with his left hand but plays the game right handed, he must have a pretty good left? All and all I was really happy to meet Ricky and look forward to being his friend for many years to come.

Now to what everyone wants to hear about, the game and the matchup with Ricky. Unfortunately Ricky only played about 8mins cause he’s still kind of hurt from a wrist injury he suffered in the Gold Medal game vs. Team USA, but in just 8mins he showed me a lot. I have a ton of respect for the dude. He’s real mature out there on the court, he has a great feel for the game. He passes the ball like crazy, reminds me of Steve Nash a little bit. Put it like this if he were in the class of 09 in high school basketball he would be the #1 player hands down. No question about it. I can only hope that when Ricky and I one day get to the NBA we can be like Chris Paul and Deron Williams, as our careers take off together like CP3 & D Will’s did. Despite what the critics say that he can’t shoot Ricky is going to be going a Great NBA player someday…he brings a complete game to the table.

Other than that I felt like I played pretty good. It was my first time really getting a chance to play extended minutes in crunch time for like 2 months. I could tell my legs and wind were not used to the minutes, the game was being played at a fast pace because all Ricky’s team does is full-court press the entire game. One more thing the Arena that we played at was Ice Cold, felt like we were playing in a hockey rink. This is the same arena that the 1992 Dream Team played in so that was a great experience as well. I also need to get more comfortable on the floor; with more minutes the feel will come back soon. I feel like I’m getting my swagger back a little. There were about 30 NBA Scouts in the stands which was crazy. I’m really interested in knowing what are some of things I need to work on. I already know that I am focusing on my off the ball defense, fighting through screens and getting myself in better help position.

then he says Rubio is all hype and that he is better than him?

I am glad that BJ is here in the states staking his claim in actual workouts with the top point competitors in the draft, while RR is in Europe complaining about who he won’t play for. It’s obvious to anyone listening, that BJ was trying to be politically correct, and give a fellow competitor the benefit of the doubt, when he said that ” RR had a wrist injury and that he knows he is a great player anyway”. But as the draft grows near and BJ has seen how “gaga” the media has gone over this kid that he has sized up personnally, with a much better perspective than any of us can, his competitive spirit will not allow him to let any of the GM’s or other team officials or media for that matter believe that this kid should be picked before him. I will say this one more time, ANY TEAM THAT PICKS RR BEFORE BJ WILL LIVE TO REGRET IT. Just my humble opinion.

I was reading something else jennings said about him being better than ricky rubio last night. i wish i had posted something about it then because i don’t remember exactly what he was saying. But basically he was just straight trashing him. He said all this and that about how he’s all hype.

Just found it so here’s what he said…

“Well put it like this,” Jennings told the Sacramento Bee, “if he was in a workout with me, Jonny Flynn, Drew Holiday, [Ty] Lawson and Stephen Curry, he wouldn’t even be at the top.”

Jennings was then asked if Rubio, who is not working out for any teams, was hyped up beyond his abilities.

“Yeah, because he played in the Olympics, been playing pro ball since 14 — you know there it is right there,” Jennings said. “His stats, you know, 26 minutes, having 16 points, seven assists, nine steals in 26 minutes, and you have all that? You know, I really don’t know, I can’t wait to play him though.”

Jennings concluded the news conference by asserting that he was the superior guard.

“Yeah, I think I’m a better player think [Rubio] is; I can shoot the ball better than he can,” Jennings said. “You know, the only time I have seen him do something is when he has a home run pass or something like that. I think the dude is just all hype. I can’t even front you know, I’m just going to be real with you guys.”

so, according to brandon, rubio is all hype because he’s been playing pro ball since he was 14. that doesn’t make him established or experienced, it makes him all hype… I don’t understand what he was inferring with the comment about the stats… sounds like he was just pissed off when he made those quotes, or is attempting to posture a little bit before the draft, but these quotes here contradict his attitude toward rubio from the blog entry by the original poster

lol then all the players that play pro ball later must be up RR? ridiculous
Maybe this BJ comments come from a desperate player that want a best pick.

Jennings is right about the hype (but he should’ve said it more politely). This is my formula for Rubio:

    Rubio – (youtube)(media) = Late 1st rounder

Rubio is actually arriving to the states today (June 13th) but he will only meet with teams… no workouts.

Europeans are just getting more exposure than they have in the past. With the recent success of foreign-born players, teams are going to spend more time scouting overseas. Anyone not buying the “hype” about foreign players is simply lagging behind the better GM’s. Look at the Finals featuring Pau Gasol, Hedo Turkoglu and Mikael Pietrus. The NBA is a growing sport worldwide and some of you will just have to deal with that.

You forgot Vujacic & Gortat. Then there’s other foreigners on the Lakers like Mbenga & Yue. I know what you meant by naming who you did though, the more well known ones, but you still should have at least added Vujacic.

My thing is people are actually down on foreign players and some are pretty good. Almost all of the players on the Spain team are good and Rubio is one them. I don’t see why he can’t be good over here. Also he could possible gain athlecism by training in the US because our training is different than theres. Most of the players they come here have to retrain their bodies. Rubio could possibly get more explosive after his second year when he has worked out more over here. Once he learns to shoot. He could should be no worse than Billups and will probably be a better passer than Billups. Athleticism does not always make you the better player. Jennings has a higher potential but Rubio has a better chance to actually reach his.

Rubio+ five years of intense scouting= Number 2 in 2009 draft
