I just came from the Hawks game and I must say, I like Jeff Teague’s game. I think he will take Bibby’s job next year and be a stud from then on. He reminds me of Jason Terry with a little Devin Harris too. He isn’t the best defender, but he’s stronger and bigger than I thought. I think he has a chance to be a borderline All-Star player.

What do you think?

I think he’s going to be very good, hes very built and very explosive, During the beginning of the season at wake he was one of the top 5 players in the country and a poor second half dropped his stock but he’ll be a real gem if he can get good minutes

After all those draft shenanigans the Hawks made… Like drafting Shelden Williams at 5 during the 2006 NBA Draft, they made it right this time with Jeff Teague… He has great court vision and should make them forget about ever drafting Acie Law…

I agree 100%. I’ve been saying this. Teague played for Pike High School in Indianapolis, so I got the chance to watch him for four years. He’s played with and competed against the best of the best in Indiana and held his own. He’s trained with George Hill, Courtney Lee, Eric Gordon and a few others since high school. I went to one of their training sessions this summer and he’s the truth. He’d gotten bigger and improved his jump shot. He’s always been explosive and had an amazing first step. He’s tough minded and has a lot of confidence and swagger. I just think he’s going to shock a lot of people.

I like Jeff Teague and Teague is solid that if he plays on a winning team he could get an All Star bid in the future. There are so many talent players and young points on the rise that it is all about your team status if you are putting up decent numbers and Teague should do that once Bibby slips enough for him to have to take less minutes even though they are playing him nicely so I think in year 3 but he could take him in year 2 but Atl will not give him that with Bibby still on the roster.

thats not boarderline all star though if youre behind 7 other point guards not counting mo williams and jose calderon and flynn. boarderline is like 3rd or fourth best pg..i just dont see it reguardless of which team he plays for because hes not better then the first couple name i mentioned and he wont be better then the first three i named…rondo,jennings,rose…i heard he worked on his jumper but he hasnt hit one three yet..i think he will be a pretty good pg though..im just not putting too much into it since hes getting 29min a game and it is preseason..in reg season he’ll get alot less shots since hortford,johnson,smith will play more and get more shots, as well as marvin williams

He is so solid, every game with 15 plus points, he pass better than did it in college, and all in all why everybody was sleepy on him during the season..19 4 4 for one of the best teams in nation was very very good might even better than Curry’s in bad team

i agree with half of what ya’ll say..still dont say boarderline all star though cuz that mean he would have to be the third or 4th best pg in the east and i dont see that over rondo,rose,devin harris, b.jennings..and thats not a knock on him it just says how good that position is gonn abe in the future as well as now

A borderline all-star vdoesn’t necessary mean that he’s the 3rd or 4th PG, and it’s not out of the realm of thinking that he could be a borderline all-star because who expected Jameer Nelson to be an all-star last year before the season? Nobody, and how long did it take him to get there? Like 4 or 5 seasons. Jameer Nelson isn’t necessarily a top 3 or even 4 PG in the East in terms of talent, but if you have a breakout season at the right time and your team has success (which the Hawks will likely have for the forseeable future) than you can slip into All-star consideration over bigger names.Probably not consistently, but it can happen. Players break out, and Teague is a high-upside player who probably will enjoy a monster season or 2 so yes, I stand by my “borderline All-Star” prediction.

Quincey: It’s not out the realm of possibility for Conley, since he has all the tools as well and he is traveling down a road eerily similar to the one Jameer Nelson took.

As for Shannon Brown, even at his best he wouldn’t be an all-star because he shares shots with alot of more talented offensive weapons. He also doesn’t have the upside of a Conley or Teague.

Here’s how much I believe in Teague… I think that, other than Brandon Jennings, he has more upside than any other point guard in his draft class. I really thought that Philadelphia should’ve taken him over Jrue Holiday with the 17th pick.

What I love the most about Teague is his mentality… He has KILLER INSTINCT. He’s got a mean/nasty streak about him and he doesn’t back down from anyone. He’s not in awe of any player. He’s super confident and competitive. He hates to lose and wants to be great. His work ethic is off the charts. The training session I watched with Teague, Gordon and Hill was probably the most intense I’ve seen. Teague dominated lol… They couldn’t stay in front of him. The reports out of Atlanta are that he showed up to training camp a month or two early.

Add that to the fact he’s super quick and explosive. He probably has the quickest and most explosive first step I’ve seen up close. He kind of reminds me of Derrick Rose with his ability to change gears and hit you with the hesitation move or crossover. He also has an attack the rim mentality and finishes well around or through defenders at the rim. He has all the tools to be a great defender. He just needs to focus. He has amazingly quick feet and hands. He has good court vision, but he just needs to continue learning how to run a team and develop more of a pass first mentality. I agree 100% with him eventually being a borderline all-star.

I completely agree that the 76ers should have taken him at 17. He is a great scorer, a great athlete, and contrary to popular belief, is at least as much of a point guard than Holiday. Unlike Jru, he at least played some point in college and showed the ability to be effective there. I don’t think that Holiday has even one phase of his game that outshines Teague.

Yeah, I completely agree with the last post, no way jrue should have went ahead of Teague. You could say maybe one aspect of the game Jrue has him in which is defense, since he shows the willingness and toughness necessary to play def, although his size may limit how well he does against some nba 2’s. But yeah Teague seems to have the natural talent and upside to be an all-star at some point, maybe one to a couple times in his career. But maybe not a perennial all-star, but he should be good though, I see him in the mold of a Jannero Pargo, with the ability to be even more explosive off the dribble and at the rim, where we’ve seen him posterize opposing big men at the collegiate level.

BA stands for “Blocked Attempts”… If Team A has a team total of 5 BA’s, then Team B should have a team total of 5 BS’s… And vice versa.

Totally agree with quincey. He has to beat a lot of good PG’s to become an all star. Although i hardly think Rodney Stuckey will be an elite PG any time soon.

yeah i dont think stucky will be aelite guard either but hes above average…and i see others people listing of boarderline all star is different from mine…so if a player is the 5th best pg,sg,sf,pf,c in there conference then they are considered a boarderline all star??
