The8thDeadlySinParticipantWhat do you all think about Jeff Teague??
Kirk is hurt so the team will start the season with Teague as the starter. Is he good enough to hold onto that spot or does he lose it as soon as Kirk returns?? He has shown that he can be a nice guard but IDK about him as a PG of a playoff team. He can score but does he set up players and run their offense?? I guess time will tell.. Which lineup is opening day starters??
Teague
Johnson
Smith
Horford
Zazaor
Teague
Johnson
Williams
Smith
Horford0 - Posted on: Wed, 12/07/2011 - 10:45am #612457
JaeEvolutionParticipantHawks don’t really need that ‘set-up’ PG, ever since LD got here and instilled the Princeton offense with a lot of back screens and off ball movement anyone can trigger the play. I think Jeff has a big year ahead of him, does he take big steps to the player he can become or still show signs of timidness and LD plays him limited time, I am a big fan so I think he will prove the late playoff surge was not a fluke.
I say we start Horford at C, only because Marvin Williams had surgery on his back and said his back was bothering him so much at one point he couldn’t bend over to clean his room and said he feels ’10 times better’ that he can move and jump without pain now. Not going to say he will ever become deserving of his #2 spot but this can be a year he gives us 16 7 and 3 if he wants to show we didn’t waste time and money on him.

I think Teague is ready, he has all the tools to have the breakout season everyone wants him to have.
He said he got up to 190 pounds, but it felt like it was slowing him down so he cut back to 180…..but other than that he says his jumpshot is greatly improved and he’s ready for the season.

He’s OK, what I commented on was you saying he was disappointing in college. How 19, 4, and 3 from a sophomore in college is "disappointing" is beyond me. Get over it kid… Sounds like your feathers got a little ruffled huh? lmao
I don’t think he’ll be that great of a PG in the league. He’s more of a shoot first PG and lacks vision. He’ll be OK but nothing special.

FastAndFuriousParticipantTeague was NOT dissapointing in college, he was argubably the best player in the country first half of the year, and was deemed to be a top 5 pick til he slowed ALL the way down.
Far as the NBA, I like him think if he’s allowed to play his game and have the same confidence he had at wake he could be a borderline all star player, never will be a true PG, but I do think he could be a 15-20 PPG 5 APG and 3 RPG guy with good minutes

NCarmean18ParticipantI think they should give him a shot. I was really impressed with what I saw out of him last year in the playoffs, and thought he was doing a better job out on the floor then Kirk Hinrich had done ever since being traded there. If Teague struggles, then maybe bring in a veteran. But, I think they should at least give the kid a chance.

BwereadyParticipantI don’t think Jeff sucks but he is not a started point guard in the NBA to me. I’m not a believer in scoring guards playing point guard. He will have to do more then just scored and I don’t think his game is that delevop yet in this emerging point guard league. He look good in playoffs but that’s just a series diffent when teams can scout ant game play for you now as a starter. The hawks won’t make the playoffs

omphalosParticipantI prefer the lineup with Smith at SF; J-Smoove has dropped 35 pounds to play the position, it would be a mistake putting him back at PF when they had success starting him at the 3 in the playoffs last season. Teague seems to have finally got his shot, and Kirk being injured to start he season is a bonus, but I’ll wait before I crown him a designated starter in this league.
