    Ben Maller:

"Jazz reportedly working on trade with Sac Kings to bring Jimmer Fredette back to Utah. This sounds MUCH better than it will be."

No, don’t do it. Utah doesn’t need a small 2 guard who can’t pass. They have plenty of 2 guards (Hayward, Burks, and Murphy) and plenty of Point Guards. (Mo Williams, Tinsley, and Watson) He wouldn’t fit the system, there wouldn’t be enough playing time for him. The public may like him, but that doesn’t mean they should get him. He may be a very good 3 pt shooter, but he wouldn’t get enough playing time for that to be effective.

I am not saying, I hate Jimmer. I like him and I want him to succeed and I don’t think he fits in with Sacramento, I just don’t think Utah is the best place for him either.

I think he would fit much better in Philly since Lou Williams is going to the Hawks, and they will need a backup point guard, also Jodie Meeks might leave so they could use a 3 point shooter, bench scorer. I think he would really thrive there.

Only if it is for a scrub or a second rounder, it could workout the Jazz need a 3 point shooter who can make space for their plethora of bigs.

with Murphy. I think if your relying on him and expecting things from him you will be dissapointed. Jimmer shouldn’t get many minutes but could get some if Jazz go small and play Hayward at 3 and rest Burks. I don’t see him being successful at PG. When he tries to play like a PG he fails miserably. Atleast when he is being agressive and trying to get shots it sometimes opens up somthing for a teammate.

Really whether it is the Kings or the Jazz he won’t be playing much and he is on his rookie contract so it is good for the teams cap space.

I love Jimmer.  He’s one of my very favorite players.  I watched him dozens of times (I lived in Salt Lake City while Jimmer was at BYU).  Since I’m also a Jazz fan, I frequently try to imagine how Jimmer could fit successfully with the Jazz.  From an emotional standpoint, I love the idea of Jimmer going to the Jazz.  There’s no one I’d rather see successful and if he could do it on my team, that would be amazing.  However, when I step back and analyze his game and the Jazz’ team, I struggle to see where he fits.  If the Jazz do trade for him I think it’s very likely that he won’t work out.  When I look at it like that, I’d give no more than Murphy (who I actually like) + a second rounder for him.

I don’t see why this deal does not get done because Sac does not need him and he will not get many mintues.  Utah may give up a pick or something just to get the BYU star.

The Jazz must be thinking about how many Jimmer jerseys they could sell, because there is no way they want him for his impressive nba rookie season. I hope the Kings can grab something worth while out of this.

He probably wasn’t worth the 10th pick, but I think he’ll be a good guy to bring off the bench and shoot.  He’s only played one year and could still get the hang of the NBA.

The bright side is that he averaged 7.6 ppg and shot 36% from the 3 point range as a rookie and put up 18.5 ppg in the Summer League, the down side is that better players were drafted after him.

J.J. Reddick only averaged 6 ppg as a rookie and he’s carved out a nice career.  I like Jimmer as a 3 point specialist going forward.

i am a jazz fan and i am okay if we get him but only if we do not give up anything anything major. he would bring in lots of cash for the jazz. but if we get him i hope people do not demand they start him or give him huge amounts of minutes right away.

Burks showed in some regular time and Summer Leageue he can play as a BIG pg, so Jimmer could play some small SG off the bench and they could cross match on defense side some.

I think he could fir them as a 4th or 5th guard and nail some bi 3s off there very good passing bigmen getting doubled.

       Indiana has 0 white guards

Utah as 1 in Blake Ahearn, who probably won’t make the regular season roster

Minnesota has 2 in Ridnour and Rubio

I am having a very hard time deciding what a fair trade would be for a very unproven Jimmer.  Would the Jazz be giving up to much for a Millsap for Jimmer and Jason Thompson.

Keep Millsap unless we can get Lillard for him.  I might send Al, but only if I can’t find something better.  Fair trade is a future first lottery protected.

what about a 2nd and a sign and trade  with Bell?

The part I really love is that if Bell thinks he was on a disfunctional team with Utah, can you imagine him in THAT locker room.  He’d feel like a babysitter.  Can we get this done and somehow get one of those locker room cameras and a reality TV show somewhere?

The Jazz already bought out Raja Bell contract.  Come on man the Kings are not going to trade the 10th pick in last years draft for a 2nd rounder and a stiff.  Jimmer is worth a lot more than a 2nd rounder, he averaged around 8 points a game as a rookie, and is averaging 18 ppg during summer league this year.

A trade I would love to see would be Jimmer and Honeycutt for Hayward.

    Heres the real question:

Can anyone name a single NBA player Jimmer Fredette can guard?

i thought the jazz had agreed to buy the contract but waited in case they could get something in a sign and trade.

The Jazz were 27th in 3FG% and 28th in made three pointers. They made all of nine three pointers in their playoff series with San Antonio, and it wasn’t for a lack of Gordon Hayward attempts. It was a problem. Marvin Williams should be an upgrade from Josh Howard in this and most other aspects. Mo Williams is a better shooter than Devin Harris and should be a better fit, though Harris should also fare better in Atlanta where the spacing should allow him to better get to the rim and maximize his strengths. While 36 percent is not what Jimmer Fredette needs to be shooting from three, Sacramento was a bad passing team. Devin Harris was assisted on 87 percent of his threes last year. Mo Williams was assisted on 83.9 percent of his threes. Jimmer was assisted on only 59 percent. His clip at which he hits is going to go up on a better passing team. Whether or not the Jazz trade for Fredette, if they are going to ride those four big horses (and no team has four big men like Jefferson, Millsap, Favors, and Kanter) inside, then it makes all the sense in the world to get the perimeter players who can play off them.
