rich.homie.mitchParticipantI think we’ve all seen this coming, I’ve said this before the season started that Vaughn would be one of the first coaches fired. I would like to see Mark Jackson or some one like George Karl come and take control of this team. They have some great pieces in oladipo, vucevic, gordon and Payton really liked his game and thought the King’s should’ve taken him with their pick. I also seen Scott Skiles be a canidate for the job, he coached those 08 bucks who really exceeded expectations. Orlando has great defenders and Skiles is a great defensive coach. He also coached young players on that Bucks team with players like Jennings and Bogut, while having some veterans too. Overall Jackson, Karl, Skiles, Woodson all seem like great fits for that team.

doubledribblerParticipantSkiles is an improvement, but it’s only a short term solution. I actually think he is a horrible choice for the team. Wasn’t he the same coach that had Tobias Harris rotting on the bench in Milwaukee? I also thought he under utilized Bogut. Pre-injury Bogut was a pretty nice all around player, but it seemed he could never get more than 9-10 shots a game.

King CaluchaParticipantThis may be one of the few times I say George Karl would not be a good fit. He’s not going to waste his time teaching these kids how to shoot. The Magic could be a great defensive team if they get the right coach.

mgreener_34ParticipantI don’t think the Magic should jump the gun, and wait till the seasons over to find their next head coach. I don’t really like many of the options out there right now, and waiting will allow them to talk to any assistent coaches who seem promising.
Also, with the way things seem to be going in CHI Town, I’ve been seeing a lot of articles/posts about the Bulls and Thibs parting ways. That would be the ideal coach for this team as he would command respect, and coach turn guys like Payton, Dipo, Harkless, and Gordan into defensive studs. Wait it out Orlando

DolanCareParticipantJacque Vaughn was awful in Orlando. He would draw up needlessly complicated plays that never took advantage of the players abilities that were on the floor. This team has great defensive potential. I would look for someone who can teach that- I’m not a fan of Skiles but he has done well with young players. The Baby Bulls being the main example. He could be an ok fit.
I would be willing to plug in Nate Mcmillan for the rest of the season if the guys is alright with working without a fully hammered out contract. Mcmillan has a history of riding players a bit too hard and I would be a tad concerned on how he would treat Nikola ‘Def not Ostertag’ Vucevic. But he’s a great defense guy and I think he could do well with this team.

sitlbitoParticipantWhat about Michael Malone, former coach of the Kings? This dude made Collison a starter,Rudy Gay an efficient player, made Mclemore improve, made J.Thompson look like a rotation player, and Landry and Casspi were also pretty good in his absence, not to mention how DMC liked him. And he made this whole group ,who just got destroyed by Dallas, improve tremendously defensively. He has always been known for making their players better or at least made them meet their expectations. Sounds like a great fit to me.

HitsterParticipantGeorge Karl would seem the obvious choice if he wanted to return to coaching. He has been out of the NBA since summer 2013 and I don’t know if he is keen to return, considers himself possibly retired, he had health issues and is nearly 64 years old now. If he was keen and would commit for a few years then he’d be top choice but who knows if he’d want to relocate again now he is older.
Scott Skiles would be a decent choice but not top of my list.
Nate McMillan would be another solid choice but would the Pacers release him I wonder.
Patrick Ewing likewise at Charlotte could have release issues and hasn’t ever been a head coach before but surely deserves a shot at a top job.
The Magic could easily wait until the summer and see who is available especially if they decided to go down the Boston route and hire a top college coach. Someone like Kevin Ollie perhaps?

sitlbitoParticipantSounds like George Karl is closer to Sacramento than Orlando. I would stick with my Mike Malone pick though
