I have only seen this kid play once and i know alot of you guys out there live in the Chicago area or just flat out watch highschool ball.

I was wondering if i can get a scouting report on him.

Its said he can play all 5 positions but lacks the athletism to be considered NBA bound. I also saw some highlight tapes of him. He seems slow for someone 6’7 and listed as a PF by some.

Is he worth his ranking as #2 prospect in the nation?

I watched him play probably a month and a half ago and I left the gym thinking "if theres a sophomore in high school better than Jabari then I want to see him". He is a flat out stud imo. I guess he could play all 5 positions in high school but in college and beyond I think he will grow into a true SF. He definitely looked very athletic to me and threw down one huge dunk and had another near tip dunk where he was well above the rim. The thing that impressed me the most about him was his shooting and ability to handle the ball.

I heard about him and was picturing a PF but in the game he routinely handled the ball, crossed kids up, and drained step back jumpers. It seemed like everything he put up was going in. He made about 4 threes in the game too. I definitely see him playing SF in the future. He didnt seem "slow" to me but he could definitely add some quickness and I think he needs to shape up his body a bit.

I think he is definitely one of the top 5 players in 2013.

He is definetly one of the top players in the class of 2013.  Ive watched 4 games of his and from what ive seen he is a mutti dimensional SF(not PF)who can present many defense mismatches because of his ability to post up smaller oppents as well as his proficient ball handeling skills for for his size.  He is a good shooter with range from around 20 feet.  He has good passing skills and is excellent at rebounding then leading the break. Defensively he is decent but he can struggle against quicker oppents because he needs to work on his lateral quickness.  He needs to add strength as well to defend taller, stronger oppenets.  While his outside shot is good, he needs to develop more consistency.  At times he seems to play with a lack of energy as well.  If he wants to become one of the best HS ballers in the nation he needs to become more aggressive.  Overall he has an extremly bright future and is definetly a player to keep an eye on.  Here are his stats for his sophmore year at Simeon(derek rose alma-matar)…http://www.maxpreps.com/athletes/4qrOAgl2VUSQOrpgfO-UBw/basketball-winter-10-11/stats-jabari-parker.htm

He has been a crucial part of two Illinois State Championships at Simeon, and has two more years left. Plus he has nice pedigree, his dad Sonny Parker was an NBA player. Sure, that does not make you an NBA player yourself, but having a solid build at 6’7 would help that regardless. Plus, from what I have seen he has a solid skill set. He has definitely stood out amongst the top competition of Illinois, and I think it is quite likely he stands out the next few summers as well.

The odds are that he is one of the better players in his class this year, and if he keeps on working, he should have a bright future. I do not know if his athleticism is top flight, but that is not the only thing that gets you to the status of being a top player. Smart, skilled players that work hard tend to succeed in the league, even if someone else has a better vert. Craftiness is close to as important as speed. Parker seems like a versatile guy, and that should suit him well. Down the line, it may be tough to find him a position, but optimally he will be somewhere on the wing. I do not think his game is incredibly similar to Kyle Anderson, but his situation is, in that he is a versatile player who may not have top flight athleticism and many have a tough time classifying where they will play on the court. The reason I like both of Anderson and Parker is due to their poise and versatility, which I think will carry them a long way.

I might be a bit off but I see a young Paul Pierce in his game

I can see the Paul Pierce comparison too, beacuse of the 6’7 , 220 frame; he’s kind of "stocky" but still nimble, with solid dribble ability, jump shot, and moves well with the ball. I think his basketball IQ is off the charts for a kid that’s entering his junior year of high school. He’s a team player, and student of the game, and it shows when u watch him. I’d say his ceiling is even higher than a Paul Pierce type, because IQ,  age,  and what he’s capable of adding to his game since he’s only 16.

no such thing as not having the athleticism to play in the NBA if you’re a very good basketball player
