Yep, Saric has been consistently saying the same thing this he was drafted.

It’s impossible to not love this guy.  He’s gotten considerably better over the last two years and he’s leaving a lot of money on the table because "my word is more important than a piece of paper".

Yeah, Philly is going to love Dario.

    DEEPish Thoughts

He would only be making like 6 Or 7mil if he waited till bext year instead of 3mil he will make if he comes over. Plus now he is a year closer to his second contract which would be in the area of 12-15+mil per depending on if he can play a little bit. He will make that money back plus get that exttra year in the league to grow with this sixers team.

important than a piece of paper…."

Philadelphia gets a bad rap & some of it is deserved, but those people are Fiercely Loyal……… Once they Love a player or coach they love that person Forever    – Championship or Not……..

Allen Iverson, Charles Barkely, Lenny Dykstra, Buddy Ryan, Reggie White & Jerome Brown are guys who Never won a Championship in Philadelphia but they are Worshipped as Heroes just as much as their Heroes who Did win Championships like Bobby Clarke, Jimmy Rollins, Dr. J, Moses Malone, Rollie Massamino etc……… b/c they loved the City back & gave every ounce of their Talent, Heart & Passion……..

If Saric really said this & actually does leave $$$ on the table to come over to the NBA—- he’ll be a cult Hero in Phila from day one……..

Where is Hype machine and all the other Dario isn’t coming over this year Idiots?

He should start games coming off the bench BUT finish games late alongside Simmons at SF and Noel at C

Philly fans are going to love his skills and hard nosed play, he’s a blue collar kid type will come to compete every night, he’s a better shooter than people ever gave him credit for and could make the All Rookie Team along with Ben and Joel (if he’s as good as we all think he is)

The 76ers are going to be a completely different Team next year…

Imagine them getting lucky in free agency and landing Delladova and prying away a RFA like Fournier or Clarkson???

Or just waiting it out until the Draft of 17′ and adding a PG like Smith Jr. or Fultz…

I said this a while ago, there will not be any room for bandwagon fans in Philadelphia, you were either here From Day 1 or GTFOH…

July 1st can’t come quick enough, I want to go hard after Delly and Fournier, give Luwawu and Korkmaz plenty of time to grow into the players they’ll become…Start Delladova at PG to play defense and knock down open jumpers, have Fournier running guys around screens and hitting 3’s in bunches…

The Process is Working, haters be dammed…

Lol I love it…Am I captain of the 76ers hater club?

This is going to look reallll bad if he doesnt come. He says his word is more important than his contract. Hmmmm

I guess hes a fool who likes neither money, nor minutes. Big mistake Dario.

Seems like Colangelo is still skeptical. I hope you guys havent gone too early calling me out like beegee did on the Thon Maker thread.

Sure they have pieces and will eventually benefit, but now its almost assured they’ll have to trade whoever doesnt fit and will get 50 cent on the dollar. Noel’s stock was perhaps as high as #3 pick, but that will plummett once people see him play next to actual talent.

Simmons will have to play out of postion at SF and be labeled as under-performing.

Wont get a good guage on Embid. Etc, etc, etc.

Well as this talk of giving Barnes the max would make absolutely no sense especially now with Saric coming over. Barnes is best used as an undersized PF which seems like the role that best fits Simmons and Saric for the time being as well.

I realize they are going to have to overpay to sign any free agent and they need shooting and defense around Simmons but they need guards not more forwards. That doesn’t mean throw a max deal at Eric Gordon either…they should try to add a veteran like Courtney Lee on a short contract with the allure of playing time.

They need to even out this roster without doing anything drastic for the time being. Once you see how these guys play together you can make moves accordingly starting in 2017 when the cap goes way up again. Hopefully the Sixers will officially be looked at as a team on the rise by then and no longer the laughing stock of the league.

b/c Every team has Cap space —- for any top Free Agent to sign with Phila would be a Monster story b/c for 3 years Phila’s reputation as a Franchise has Been destroyed.

Hinkie set them up w/ some Incredible Talent & they will Still be picking at the top of the Lottery for 3 years even if they Do make the playoffs b/c they have a Ton of Draft picks thru other teams like the Lakers & Kings & Nuggets  – plus their own picks

If they get a top free agent to choose them — even if it is not a Perfect fit would be Gigantic & it would break the damn where we could see other players choose them too. The East is very weak outside of Cleveland – the 76ers could become Very good – very fast.

So you overpay Harrison Barnes because it gives you a .02% chance to sign Steph Curry down the road?

Signing above average players to huge contracts (Elton Brand) is what got the Sixers into the mess of having to tank the last three years. Every team does have cap space but smart teams are not willing to blow 20+ million a year on Harrison Barnes. If some team does sign him to a max offer sheet I would be surprised if the Warriors match it.

No top free agents will be lining up at your door because you sign Harrison Barnes…You will have guys like Eric Gordon knocking because they will be will eager to get overpaid as well.

I wouldn’t mind Barnes on this team.  I tried watching that all women round table on first take but they completely missed the boat…just because you sign Barnes to a max deal does not make him the face of the franchise. Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid are the faces of this franchise. Barnes would be a solid piece.  Max contracts are given out like candy bars on Halloween.

Sixers need to spend 40M to reach the cap floor I think.

Barnes is only 24 years old, Sixers are filled with young guys. In the next 3-4 years hopefully those young players would have developed and Barnes would still be in his 20s as a solid role player. You could do a lot worse than bringing in Barnes at max deal.

But of course this all goes out the window if Golden State can’t get Durant and wants Barnes back.

Don’t think they can pay a non-guard Core Guy Money.

UNLESS they want to trade guys, then you aren’t really sure which guys to trade…

A couple of shooting guards would make more sense.

What about Evan Fournier?  Don’t really watch him play, but supposedly he is pretty good — although he could be restricted, not sure.

I think someone in the OJ Mayo thread said that he might be a good option for Philly.  Like, he could put up a bunch of points on that team.

I agree with that.  At this point, you are almost taking a flyer on a semi-reclamation project.

BUT, he can space the floor and handle the ball a bit, at the very least.  Then, when his shot is on, the Sixers have a pretty good scorer on their hands.

If the Sixers use Ben Simmons as their primary ball handler, and I think they will, then OJ Mayo should be a decent secondary ball handler for them.

Yeah, the cap is going to go UP.  But, so will the prices of ROLE PLAYERS.  So, some chump (or a lot of chumps) out there is gonna get $10 million to $15 million.

So it might be hard to fill out a decent roster if you are paying a guy like Harrison Barnes $15 million plus when youngish 8th/9th guys are getting $10 million a year.  … you could easily have $25 to $35 million dollars invested in the back end of your 9 man rotation.  Not gonna work.

They might need to wait until the free agent market collapses (probably mid to late July) then pick up 4 or 5 guys at a time on somewhat cheap 3-4 year deals.

As of right now, you probably have a few guys on the team that will command $15 to $25 million a year at some point: Ben Simmons, Okafor, Noel, Embiid, and Saric.  Not a lot of room left for overpaid role players who don’t really move the needle (Harrison Barnes).  At that point it will cost $10 million EASY for halfway decent point guards and 3 and D wings.

The Sixers may even want to look at Ben Simmons’ LSU teammate from last season, Tim Quarterman.  I thought he was pretty good, and fairly versatile.

I thought the list of draft eligible players this year was pretty deep.

Pick up some of those guys CHEAP.  A couple will pan out.

Go get projected 10th guys instead of paying TWICE as much for a 7th/8th man.

I think I would bring Allen Iverson back before I gave Harrison Barnes a $15 million/year plus long-term deal.
