Lotto StudParticipantThey both give you instant progression & they’re like ying yang to each other, very opposite playing styles. If you were a GM in this years upcoming draft aside from all the hype, who would you select & why?

Mr. ChicagoParticipantTo me, he is what you look for in a point guard, quick, floor general, takes care of the basketball and an above average outside shooter. I think he will thrive at Duke and eventually in the NBA.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantIrving is way better then Knight. Irving is more a pure pg while Knight is a combo guard.

gregoden08ParticipantI wouldn’t say he is way better than Knight, but he is a better playmaker and floor general. I’d take Irving because he seems like a more natural pg.

Lotto StudParticipantForget about me asking who would you rather take, because the votes are unanimous……Is there anyone who would take Knight over Irving?

iguapops420Participantirving.
that being said, dont be surprised to see him outplayed this year by knight simply for the fact knight will be in an offense perfect for him. bring out the best in him while making his pg abilities seem better than they are. its like choosing between deron and cp3.0 - Posted on: Fri, 09/03/2010 - 11:21am #393191

midwestbbscoutParticipantright now Knight but Coach K will be the one giving the point guard coaching lesson this year…..what Irving will learn from him will be invaluable….

ilike.panochasParticipantEvery Calipari PGs lately has been booming, and Knight is next in line, I think he will be an NBA All-Star PG. I see him as Chauncey Billups and will even be a better defender than Billups will be, everyone talks about Knight’s scoring ability, but his defense is excellent and has a chance to be elite. Imagine a 20ppg scorer who has great defensive ability, can you say Gary Payton? And he already has NBA 3 point range.

ilike.panochasParticipantDo you consider Billups to be an elite defender? Billups is an excellent defensive PG, but I see Knight being a potential “Elite” defender, perhaps same level as Rondo, but he has more length than Rondo.

Mr. ChicagoParticipantSo let me get this straight you just compared an incoming college freshman to Gary Payton (HOF’er), Chauncey Billups, and Rajon Rondo (both All-Stars)? I am sorry but i do not see that at all.

Mr. ChicagoParticipantI’d rather have that comparison than to a man considered the greatest defensive point guard of all time.
Last time I checked Chris Paul wasn’t an all-time great yet. I can see similiarities with Rondo and Billups, but the Glove puts it over the top. He redefined the position defensively.

Mr. ChicagoParticipantAnd Gary Payton was a 9 time all defensive 1st team. And the defensive player of the year.

midwestbbscoutParticipantthey have been booming that is no lie…..but to taste the flavor of the month and say that a PG is better off playing for Calipari than Coach K is misguided at best and at worst its retarded…..
I have Irving 1 and Knight 3…..I think they will both be fine….

the I in winParticipantChauncey Billups isn’t that great of a defender any more. He is still solid but back in the day he would lock up anyone.

stanford hoopsIt’s funny when people say Irving has better pg skills even though knight averaged about the same ast while having a worst team and they forget knight was one of the top ast men in Vegas as a soph. The kid can do everything knight can do plus he’s a better shooter and more athletic and taller. I agree it’s not close because knight is better. When a pg scores people think they must be a combo but don’t take in account that the kids team needed him to score alot and since no one could stop him from scoring ie Brandon Jennings in hs, that’s what he did

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantIf I’m a gm, I’ve got about 10 months left to decide. I think I’d like to see how they play college ball and how they do in workouts prior to making a decision on the matter.

andxxxParticipantWhy is Knight considered a combo guard all of a sudden in a highschool setting he shows tremendous vision and outstanding pg skills, his game isn’t the most suited for all star games which is where most of you have only seen him play…saying that I think Kyrie Irving has more potential down the line but Brandon Knight will surprise ppl

stanford hoopsExactly. You can tell most are baseing things on the allstar games because before that most people on here and eben scouting sites had knight higher. Knight has always shown very very good court vision which makes it laughable when people who havnt watched him much call him a combo guard
