Who won the PG13 trade this summer?

I think both OKC and IND won because Oladipo and Sabonis really wouldn’t have had a chance to develop in OKC next to Russ, while OKC still got a two-way terror back. IND won for obvious reasons, trading away a disgruntled superstar who was going to leave in free agency while getting a breakout star back and another solid big man back.

What do you see in the top 10 draft prospects this year (according to the current mock)?

Ayton- KAT, offensively dominant but struggles to defend

    Young- Curry-lite

Bagley- I see a Garnett body type, but the skill set is kind of lacking

    Porter- Durant/Ingram

Bamba- Rudy Gobert with shades of a jumper

Doncic- a guard version of Toni Kukoc

    Jackson- Myles Turner

    Sexton- Bledsoe/ Steve Francis

    Knox- PG13

    Mikal Bridges- Covington

Where will the impact free agents this year land?

LeBron- I think he really hasn’t decided. If things look bright in Cleveland at the end of the year, I think he stays. But my guess right now is Houston with his buddy CP3.

Paul George- I’m not sure he’s made a decision either. Rumored to the Lakers, but the Lakers look terrible right now and when they hosted PG13, they lost by 37. I think he might resign with OKC.

DeMarcus Cousins- I think he’s also up for grabs. The Pelicans don’t look like they’re going anywhere, and the Lakers, another rumored destination, look terrible. I think any prediction on Cousins’s future is far fetched right now, so I’ll make a far fetched prediction: San Antonio. Right now, I’m not sure they have the cap space to do so, but they really desire a second star because in the offseason they tried to sign CP3 and trade for Kyrie.

KD- He’s staying with Golden State.

Chris Paul- I think he either resigns with Houston or follows LeBron.

Nikola Jokic- He’s 200% staying in Denver.

Isaiah Thomas- This is a tough one. If LeBron stays in Cleveland, and the fit throughout the year is good, IT might stay in Cleveland. In the end though, I think IT goes wherever the most money is. Not many teams likely to offer a 30 year old, coming off a major injury, sub-6 footer PG a max deal.

DeAndre Jordan- I think he’ll go somewhere with an elite PG. The more lobs, the more fun! I’m thinking Boston is a possibility, but then it would require one of Brown/Hayward/Tatum/Horford to come off the bench. Jordan is hard to predict. I think he might fit nicely in Toronto if they get rid of Jonas Valanciunas.

If you had to pick one of Bobby Portis and Nikola Mirotic, which would you pick?

After their fight, Mirotic and Portis are likely not on good terms, making it likely Chicago may have to pick one. I would pick Portis because he’s younger, likely has more upside, and he’s more popular in the locker room (after the fight, the Bulls locker room sided with Portis).

As Frank Drebbin said in the Naked Gun, never back the white guy so I’ll say Portis.

Who Won the PG13 Trade? – Indiana Pacers

The Thunder reason for this trade was to compete at a championship level but clearly it hasn’t panned out like expected. Paul George is most likely going to jump teams come free agency which leaves OKC without insurance because they didn’t get anything other than PG.

Indiana’s reason for the trade was to clear out an unhappy Paul George and receive some young building blocks for their future. Oladipo is thriving in his home town and arguably playing at the same level as Paul George. He isn’t the super star that will carry them to an elite record but thats not what they were expecting in this trade. They also picked up Sabonis who complements Turner so well. Sabonis should end up being a solid and consistent option for this franchise for the next decade realistically.

Yes I would agree with your assessment of the Pacers, but I do think the Thunder still have a chance to be championship contenders. Having three high usage superstars on a team is something that takes a long time to figure out. Don’t give up on the Thunder just yet.

It does take time to adjust when you have three high usage guys but Paul George won’t be willing to wait 2-3 years to become that kind of team. I bet he is more than willing to potentially switch teams this off-season.

I actually like your comparisons. A lot of times people make lazy ones without really watching the player, and just compare them to whoever has their body type/game.

It’s been so many players that have played in the NBA that it just doesn’t make sense to always throw out superstar comparisons, especially since only a handful of the prospects ever reach the levels of the players they’re compared to. Also, I don’t like to compare prospects to players who haven’t completely made it to their prime, so there’s that too.

Alright, #RantOver. Here’s mine just to throw some new names out there:

    Ayton –  Jermaine O’Neal

    Young – Stephon Marbury

    Bagley – Abdur-Rahim

    Porter – Rudy Gay

Bamba – Marcus Camby (I don’t think that jumper is coming)

    Doncic – Jalen Rose

    Jackson – Donyell Marshall

    Sexton – OJ Mayo

    Knox – Wilson Chandler

    Mikal Bridges – Luol Deng

Ayton is a soft, poor man’s Ewing
      Young is Michael Adams
      Bagley is Bosh
Porter scares me a bit, I see a fair bit of Bargnani in him
Bamba and Camby works for me
Doncic it’s lazy to say mini Kukoc so I’ll say mini Detlef Schrempf

I haven’t closely watched Jackson, Sexton, Knox or Bridges closely enough to comment fairly

Why do you think Ayton is soft? Besides him taking a lot of jumpers so far

Jalen Rose is actually a good comparison for Doncic. Never thought of that.

I don’t have any really good comparisons for any of these top guys but one comparison that I have come across is for Robert Williams

Robert Williams – Amir Johnson/Ed Davis
