So I just thought of this idea

For every 5 picks who are you betting your money on being the best player of them.

So just for rules sake, by every 5 picks I mean 1-5, 6-10, 11-15… you get the gist.

    Here are mine

    1-5: Markelle Fultz, PG

Fultz is my pick here as I think he can be (at his best) a 23/6/6 kind of guy. I like Lonzo here as well but I’m a Fultz homer and he is my guy.

    6-10: Dennis Smith Jr, PG

Smith is clearly the best prospect out of this bunch and I imagine that he will develop into a modern day Kevin Johnson for the Mavericks. If Isaac is to figure it out he could seriously be an elite talent but at the moment I think his most likely projection is an Otto Porter/Andrei Kirilenko cross.

    11-15: Luke Kennard, SG

Malik Monk could honestly go here as well. Monk is definitely in a better situation to develop but I think him and Kennard’s primes will be pretty neck a neck barring Kennard’s development being stunted. Both could be career 13ppg players who peak at around 15-20ppg.

    16-20: John Collins, PF

I also like D.J. Wilson here for his versatility and potential but I believe that Collins will be the more consistent and reliable guy out of the two. 12 and 8 for his career would be nice for Collins and I can definitely see it happening.

    21-25: O.G. Anunoby, SF

I’m really hoping the O.G. can develop into the lottery type prospect that he was before injury and turn into a beast two way player for the Raps. He could be the guy they turn to as their core ages.

    26-30: Caleb Swanigan, PF

Kuzma brought about a lot of summer league hype but lets not forget that Swanigan also had a fantastic summer league and projects as a very solid NBA player. His defense and shorter stature are his let downs but his rebounding talents, offensive versatility and work ethic bode well.

    31-35: Frank Mason III, PG

Iwundu is another guy I would consider here as I like his two-way role player potential but everytime I see Mason I can’t help but be reminded of Jameer Nelson. Playing behind Hill and being in Fox’s shadow may stunt his development but I would love to see and can see Mason developing into one of the league’s most reliable sixth men who really deserves to start.

    36-40: Semi Ojeleye, SF

Semi is a guy that I can see making large improvements every year and coming closer and closer to Jayson Tatum than people expect. He has serious Jimmy Butler levels of potential but even if he doesn’t reach that level, his scoring, small-ball playstyle and defensive versatility will make him a solid rotational guy that you want on your team.

    41-45: Thomas Bryant, C

I love this kid’s intensity. He plays with so much energy and emotion and only time will tell whether that will lead to rapid development or behavioural issues.

    46-50: Ike Anigbogu, C

Anigbogu could be a top defensive big in this league and I’m still shocked that Indy got him so low and so many teams passed up on his potential alone.

    51-55: Monte Morris, PG

I love Monte Morris. I believe this guy is going to be one of those leaders and locker room guys who shows with his play, his leadership and his attitude as a player. Will become a great veteran presence given time. Just a great fundamental basketball player.

    56-60: Jabari Bird, SG

I don’t think any of these guys show much hope but from watching Bird a bit in summer league he seems to be my favourite out of these 5 but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Spurs manage to make Blossomgame an all-star under their amazing system.

I won’t pretend to be a good enough scout to make these guesses based on what I saw of the players in college. So I’m going to attempt to answer by looking at the situations the rookies will find themselves in … the quality of coaching, the team culture, the opportunity to play vs. the burden of expectations, etc. etc. Here goes:

1-5. Fultz. Seems like a perfect situation. The 76ers have an excellent coach, and while they’ve stunk it up the last few years, they play hard — they don’t really have a losing culture. Now they’re ready to try and win, but unlike Lonzo Ball, Fultz doesn’t have to be a savior. That’s Embiid and Simmons more than him. No one would really mind if Simmons — or TJ McConnell — is running the point at the end of games for the next couple years, as long as Fultz develops his game. He can play within himself. That’s huge.

6-10. Z. Collins. OK, in this case I am going off what I saw in college. I just think he has tremendous talent. He may not show it for a few years, but he can sit on the bench for a well-coached team that at least competes for a playoff spot every year. Nurkic and Leonard can show him two completely different ways of being a big white dude in the NBA.

11-15. J. Jackson. Seems like guys who play multiple seasons at Carolina and win a championship at least carve out decent careers as NBA role players. Sacramento’s veteran pickups (Vince, Hill, Randolph) are an ideal crew to instill a winner’s mentality in young players.

16-20. J. Collins. Give Pop clone Budenholzer a big guy who rebounds, defends and goes hard to the rim on a pick and roll, and he will give you a solid NBA player.

21-25. A. Pasecniks. It may not happen with the 76ers, but it seems likely that there will eventually be a role in the NBA for a 7-1 guy who can shoot threes.

26.30. D. White. Here’s what happened the last five times the Spurs drafted a college player with one of the last few picks in the first round: DeJounte Murray, Kyle Anderson, Cory Joseph, James Anderson, George Hill.

I’m too tired to do the 2nd round right now.

1-5. Jayson Tatum. Sure he won’t do much in his first season but this guy has already shown that he can score in bunches and being on a playoff team will give the experience he needs to succeed and develop the other areas of his game.

6-10. Dennis Smith Jr. No brainer on this one and it appears he will be the cornerstone for the Dallas Mavericks.

11-15. Bam Adebayo. I really wanted to say Mitchell but Adebayo has a higher ceiling and playing alongside Whiteside would help his game much more as the years go by.

16-20. John Collins. He ended up in a great situation in Atlanta under HC Bud and will probably get PT during the season and be solid big for them as an athletic big.

21-25. OG Anunoby. He could end up starting for the raptors in the future just with his defense alone and potential.

26-30. Caleb Swanigan. He may be the steal of the draft.

31-35. Frank Mason. He could be a solid 6th man for the Kings playing behind De’Aaron Fox.

36-40. Jordan Bell. He went to the perfect situation and playing alongside Draymond will help his game grow and make the Dubs tougher defensively.

41-45. Isaiah Hartenstein. Should he come over, he give the rockets a solid athletic big who can shoot outside and a perfect fit alongside Harden and Paul.

46-50. Sindarius Thornwell. Solid role player

51-55. Edmund Sumner. Solid role player

56-60. Jaron Blossomgame. Could be solid.

    1-5: Markelle Fultz, PG/SG

Agreed. He has no glaring weakness and the tools to be considered the best out of the bunch. Its closer than you think though every player in the range has tons of potential. After Fultz I rank them as Ball, Tatum, Jackson, Fox; Tatum and Jackson being a coin flip.

6-10: Dennis Smith Jr, PG – Agreed.

    11-15: Donovan Mitchell, PG/SG

This is where my opinion starts to differ. This guy is already an NBA level defender with awesome physical tools (wingspan, athleticism) and hes just a dog. I like Kennards game, Adebayo is also worth mentioning but I think Mitch is a no brainer in this range.

16-20: John Collins, PF – Agreed.

    21-25: Terrance Ferguson, SG/SF

I really like Ferg. Good shootehr, great physical tools, has international experience and is the youngest in the range I believe. All of those things work in his favor and give him the edge.

    26-30: Kyle Kuzma, SF/PF

Kuz has everything you would want in a modern day big. Quick, athletic and can space the floor. He’s an all around big that shows the most promise from this range.
