He had a very solid season and it will be pretty risky for him to return (I don’t think Nova can win next year and if he is a full-time starter and doesn’t perform well, his stock will fall).

He is already 21 (He is a redshirt sophomore, not a regular sophomore) and his skillset projects well to the next level (He can handle the ball, shoot well from 3, and is a very good athlete). However, his defense and passing could be better.

At the end of the day, if I were a GM I would easily take him in the 20-30 range. Additionally, I believe he is a better NBA prospect than Jalen Brunson.

IMO, Donte should get his degree.. Why sit and wait to play on a late 1st round early 2nd round contract, when you can continue your education at Villanova and still develop.

He can always go back and get his degree. I think he should test the waters, if he’s a first round pick then he should go. I don’t think his stock rises next year.

Completely agree, maybe he shouldn’t hire an agent until later and see what his interest around the league is. Surely, there will be some interested GM after that final performance. If he doesn’t see interest around the league, play another year and work on his game. He could really improve as a defender and I think he has the tools to be a great one, so another year with Nova could help with that.

If he didn’t have that breakout performance in the championship game we wouldn’t even be having this discussion. He wasn’t even being considered as someone who might declare prior. I can see the argument for him going or at least testing the waters now, given that his profile might never be higher and another year in college could give scouts more time to scrutinize his game and weaknesses.

Still, given the track record of the Villanova program, I think it’s likely he comes back for another season. He will likely be the number one option for a team that will be in the championship hunt again and probably on everyone’s short list for preseason national player of the year. Jay Wright is known as a coach who develops players rather than just recruiting blue-chippers and divencenzo would likely be given the opportunity to expand and really showcase his game in more of a go to role.

We’ve seen guys like josh hart, Mikal bridges and Jalen Brunson all put off the nba to come back to Villanova for another year to further develop their game and I don’t think you could argue it has hurt their draft stock at all. My guess is divencenzo will follow a similar route. I guess everyone is different and you can never really be sure though.

I agree he could turn into a good NBA prospect, but he needs to build his stock even more.  I would enter because of his big performance without an agent to see if he can gain some traction through workouts and if he can get into the first round stay in draft, but  even with his big performance in the title game he is an early 2nd round to undrafted guy right now.

I think he should stay. I wasn’t hearing his name on any draft boards. He has good skills, but is a little small for a 2 guard so they’ll hold that against him. If he was 6’6 he’d be gone. I think his stock will be better next year too because it’s a wayyyyyy weaker draft.

His numbers are destined to go up, he can continue to improve, they can make it back to the Final 4 and then go in a weaker draft. He’s already going to be in mocks for next year. Maybe in the teens.

I agree, I’m looking at his numbers and they’re very good at the PACE Villanova plays.. very efficent player and could find a path in the league.. He’s just going to have to prove it as a main option.

I like him as much as any guard in the draft. More of a big man draft or Porter/Doncic.

I think he could go 10-15 although I have him just inside the top 10.

He could have a great combine and some really good workouts.

He should at least test the waters. His stock is super high right now.

You know whatt is funny…. Devin Booker and many others had the same route. GMs have to think about the 6th men that excelled on college teams and transitioned to the NBA. He has to put the work in though. Booker, Lavine, Brad Beal. They all didnt have huge careers, Beal did a little. At this point I would take DD in the top 25. He has the skills to be good. He reminds me of Beal if he puts the work in. I gotta see the measurements but him and Beal are similar.
