MagikKnickParticipantI think you have high expectations from a group of second rounders.. I like all three of them aswell, but dont see any of them being more than decent role players..

iguapops420Participant^^^ Very much disagree.
Iman Shumpert-Larry Hughes best case,Smush Parker/DeShawn Stevenson worst
Scotty Hopson-JR Smith best case, Nick Young rookie year worst case
Iasiah Thomas JR.-Nate Rob best case,Out of the league worst case

Stojakovicfor3ParticipantI know for a fact those guys won’t put up those type of numbers. I think Shumpert’s best season will be something like 7.5ppg 3.5 rpg and 3apg. Thomas’s best season will be something like 7ppg and 4.5apg. Hopson though I could see putting up something like 12ppg, 5.5rpg and 2spg
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/28/2011 - 10:12am #537111
iguapops420ParticipantI could NEVER see Hopson putting up 5.5 rebounds per. He’s an absolutely horrid rebounder in college. What makes youn think he’d be any better in the pro’s. Do you realize how many sg’s actually average that many rebounds?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/28/2011 - 10:16am #537113
Stojakovicfor3ParticipantOh crap. My apologies. For some reason I was thinking he put up 7 rebounds a game. I don’t know why though.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/28/2011 - 10:18am #537114
iguapops420ParticipantIt’s all good.In reality he really should be putting up better rebound numers. You’re probably thinking of Marshon who put up 7rbs. But apparently was only due to him playing extended minutes at the 4. Though I think his 7ft1 wingspan had a bit to do with that as well.

4th dimensionScotty Hopson best/worst case senario
The ceiling gap between Ariza and Budinger is so small, that Budinger may surpass Ariza someday.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/28/2011 - 10:19am #537116
iguapops420ParticipantBudinger’s upside is much higher IMO. He’s got a smoother stroke, similar athleticism, and plays the game more efficiently. I thought that was an odd upside/downside comparison as well.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/28/2011 - 10:19am #537117
paradigmnParticipantISAIAH THOMAS worse case scenario NATE ROBINSON???…LOL…if that were the case I think ISAIAH THOMAS would be a lock for the second round….unfortunetly he might not even be drafted!!!
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/28/2011 - 10:21am #537120
Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantYeah, the only guards to average 5+ rpg this season
- Dwyane Wade, 6.4 RPG
- Andre Iguodala, 5.8 RPG
- Kobe Bryant, 5.1 RPG
And if you consider Dorell Wright a guard, 5.3 RPG..
So 5.5 would be a huge stretch… especially because he’s Scottie Hopson.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/28/2011 - 10:23am #537122
MagikKnickParticipantLandry Fields?^
Isaiah Thomas is really talented, he’d just need the change to play…and unfortunately, he probably wont get that chance..
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/28/2011 - 10:26am #537123
Stojakovicfor3ParticipantMaybe because Hopson averaged 17ppg or because he’s 6’7 is where I got the 7 from
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/28/2011 - 10:26am #537124
4th dimensionFields is a true SF that is forced to play SG because of Melo.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/28/2011 - 10:31am #537130
MagikKnickParticipantStill played SG the majority of the season, no reason to leave him off that list..
And Hopson is almost TALKING his way out of being drafted…Alex Kennedy said alot of GMs are shying away from Hopson b/c hes doing ‘terrible’ in interviews…
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/28/2011 - 11:25am #537155
iguapops420ParticipantEven if you are counting Fields as a 2, that’s FOUR guards over 5. And hip Hops can’t get but 3 in college, in sincerely doubt he gets 5 in the NBA where the game is far more physical. Hopson has apparently been bad in interviews. Which going with his inconsistent play, pentiant for turnovers, poor strength, lack of development, and lack of leadership, will probably see him mid 2nd to quite possibly undrafted. Still has some potential but really needs to become a student of the game and show a consistent ANYTHING.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantYessir, I forgot Landry Fields.
Regardless of what his true position is, he was playing shooting guard for the season.
My mistake.

TheLastWordParticipantI find it sad Shumpert is such an athletic freak but has no basketball skills whatsoever.

ball4life66ParticipantYou obviously have never seen Shumpert play if you thnk he has no basketball skills.

butidonthavemoneyAl-Farouq Aminu was here for a while. So was James Harden.

knicksfan7Participant@NoMoney
Don’t forget John Wall came on this site for a breif period of time, lol.
Also, you did a mediocre job evaluating Jenkins. If you were still on facebook I would tell you.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/28/2011 - 1:54pm #537228
butidonthavemoneyWhat’s wrong with my Jenkins evaluation?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/28/2011 - 1:55pm #537229
knicksfan7ParticipantYou rated him too high defensively and too low in leadership and intangibles. Guy is one of the best leaders in the draft, and if you listened to any of his interviews you can tell he has very good intangibles with the mental makeup of a pro already. The team’s performance is a bad indicator of the player he is.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/28/2011 - 1:59pm #537232
butidonthavemoneyI actually gave him a 7 for defense, an 8 for leadership and an 8 for intangibles.
Aran made some slight adjustments.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/28/2011 - 2:01pm #537235
knicksfan7ParticipantThen I blame Aran. He is not nearly as talented as teh guys in this thread, but his mental makeup and intangibles is why he’ll likely have longer careers than all of these players. Everyone fails to realize that at the level of the NBA 95-97% of the game is mental, not physical.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/28/2011 - 2:06pm #537237
butidonthavemoneyI’d draft Jenkins before Shumpert, Hopson or Thomas. You’re right in that he is a smart kid with a good work ethic. I mentioned in the evaluation that he could be a great drive and dish point guard or spot-up shooting guard coming off the bench. All he needs is to be drafted into the right situation.
I probably wouldn’t touch any of them in the 1st round though.
And watch what you say about Aran. He’ll make you disappear.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/28/2011 - 2:13pm #537241
knicksfan7ParticipantChicago I could see taking Jenkins in Round 1. He fits there culture, and his passing abilities are very underrated, but he can play spot minutes at the point when Rose is on the bench. Chicago really needs is more guys that are capable of shooting the 3, and Deng to step up more as a scorer (meaning getting better at shooting the 3, which seeing him take a lot more this year he will get better at in time).
