Lotto StudParticipantThis may sound far fetched to many of you, but with his measureables as a 6’5′ 221 PG I see him being a LOCK & yes I said lock for the 1st Round.
I actually see Chicago as the landing spot for him with 1 of their 1st Round picks.
What are your thoughts?

ilike.panochasParticipantHe’s one of the best sleepers but I don’t see him in the first round. There are possibly 5 PGs that will be chosen in 1st round and I don’t see Shumpert being one of them. I would take McCamey over Shumpert, and McCamey measured solid at 6’3.5 w/ shoe and his weight is now down to 204lbs which is a great sign.
Here are the PGs I see going in 1st:
Irving
Knight
Walker
Jimmer
Darrius MorrisAnd possibly McCamey.
I don’t see Shumpert being in the mix.

Lotto StudParticipantIf you think about it he fits in perfectly with Thibbs defensive philosophy. Shumpert would bring what J.R. Smith or O.J. Mayo would not be able to bring to the table & that’s the ability to play D & backup PG for Rose. He may be a work in progress as a shooter, but he has all the physical tools.

nwk2bkParticipantAre you basing him rising into round 1 strictly because of his measurables? I think this draft is somewhat deep for pg. Darius Morris measured similarly, i just dont see Shumpert making the 1st round.

JNixonParticipantShumpert isn’t consistent or polished enough offensively to justify investing a guaranteed deal in. He has proven to be a good defender in college and has the tools to translate it, but he’s still young and even that aspect of his game will have to be developed. Teams already knew Shumpert was physically gifted, he’s had great size and solid athleticism since he was a Fr. It’s nothing new. So why push him into the 1st round for that now? Just because 3 years has passed?

Lotto StudParticipant"Are you basing him rising into round 1 strictly because of his measurables?"
How am I bashing????? If anything I am saying he has helped his cause for his stock to rise. I just said he brings defense & the ability to play PG. Did you not see that part?

Lotto StudParticipantWhat does Elliot Williams have as a combo that he don’t? He went 1st Round last year even with an injury.

butidonthavemoneyHe said "basing", not "bashing".
Shumpert has a low basketball IQ, poor shooting ability (with a repulsive shot-selection) and reportedly quite a few character issues. Despite his solid measurements, he is by no means a lock for the first round.

Lotto StudParticipantMy bad I misread it that quick……. I still think he has helped himself
0 - Posted on: Fri, 05/20/2011 - 10:53am #534015
Lotto StudParticipantHe is up 221 from the listed 210.

surveParticipantIf Shumpert gets in the 1st Round….its because of his defense. He is a multi-faceted and talented player and excellent athelete. Its his inconsistency and turnovers that concern teams the most. He is more versatile than Tony Allen or Keith Bogans, but more erratic. I love Shumpert and the funny thing is, he may be to risky for a guaranteed contract but even if he is the 1st pick in the 2nd round he will be a steal.

Lotto StudParticipantChicago could gamble with all that especially since he has that defense that Thibbs love.

ilike.panochasParticipantJust because he’s up to 221lbs from 210lbs doesn’t necessarily mean his stock is dramatically rising, this isn’t football. You don’t even know if that weight gain is “good” lbs, he could be coming in the combine 10lbs out of shape, who knows. Don’t put too much empahsis on a player’s weight, and actually watch his film, then draw your conclusion if he’s a first round prospect.

More athleticism, a true position, better efficiency and production at Memphis. And even with all that Williams was a D-Leaguer. Shumpert will not see the floor much either I don’t suspect. He’s too raw right now.

Lotto StudParticipantI seen how he looked physically & it looks as if it will be no problem from what little I did see from the combine. He also jumped really high on his vert test although I do not know what he measured.

Lotto StudParticipantI’m not tryna knock EWill either I’m just trying to compare the 2 as combo guards heading into the draft.
