Ben Simmons is going to be the best player in the NBA.

I’m sure most people will disagree….but they’re wrong and time will prove it.

Magic Johnson said it right…he’s the best all-around talent since Lebron. And he would know what it takes to dominate better than we would.

These College Stats aren’t a camera trick…he’s putting up historic numbers while still being branded ‘too unselfish’. Its because hes infinitely better than everyone in college.

We all know the strengths and weaknesses….they dont need to be repeated. History shows the best player in the world comes in all shapes and sizes. One things for sure in every case…they’re unstoppable.

And since this is ‘another Simmons thread’…perhaps you can reserve your comment unless you have something original to add.

So there you have it…the 2021, 2022+2023 MVP will be the 6’10" swingman out of LSU.

If Ben lives up to his hype then his potential upside is a top 5 NBA player. To say who is the best NBA player is always subjective, most of our top 3’s or 5’s would include a mix of LBJ, KD, Curry, Westbrook, Harden, Davis, Leonard, DMC. That’s just 8 names off the top of my head in a vague order.

Cant say that right now, but he is very important to the game. Really the first generation of kids to look up to lebron so seeing his development is going to be good to watch. I think with all the small ball he can be a point center which is even scarier. Hes going to be a double double machine coming out and I can see him flirting with a triple double each game eventually.

I don’t know why you’d say that most people would disagree that he would be the best player in the NBA at some point.  I’m pretty sure almost everyone on this thread recognizes how good Simmons is already and would classify him as arguably the best player in college basketball.  However, I wouldn’t say he’s infinitely better than everyone in college basketball, otherwise LSU would have a better record.  But his size, talent level and his IQ are elite, especially for his age.  These combined with his tremendous ceiling, I think everyone on this forum agrees it could propel him to the best player in the league and lead to MVP awards and possible championships.  I honestly feel like the thought that Simmons will probably be the league’s best player at some point is already in the back of all of our minds, and not a shocking prediction.

Now I’m not comparing Simmons play style or potential to LeBron, but I DO see two glaring similarities in their weaknesses. Unless I’m remembering it wrong, the biggest knocks on LBJ in his rookie year were that he was too unselfish (kept passing up potential game winners to teammates) and that he had no 3pt shot. It’s almost a carbon copy of what is happening to Simmons. I’m not saying that he’ll be LeBron (I think his ceiling is actually prime Grant Hill) but James was able to improve in those areas of perceived weaknesses and I see no reason why Simmons couldn’t either. Besides, I think it’s easier to teach a willing passer to shoot than it is to teach a selfish gunner to pass.

I think he has the potential to be the top 3 at best, I wouldn’t say to be the best player in the league just yet, I’ll wait on the Anthony Davis development. If Lebron KD Curry and others hit their decrease since age caught up on them. I think then, he’ll be in discussion for the best player in the world with AD. Let’s also consider thenext high school class, if there’s someone or has the potential to do so. But for now, I’m sticking with the top 3.

I am sorry, but this isn’t much of a prediction. Of course Simmons has a “chance” to be the best. 6-7 years from now Lebron. Durant will be gone or way past their primes. Same for Curry. Someone has to take/get the mantle as top gun. Simmons does have immense talent. So why NOT Simmons?
