andxxxParticipantHas anyone ever got in a basketball argument with someone real ignorant? I say this because I was at the barber yesterday and they were talking about Jordan vs Kobe, this one dude said Jordan had everything on Kobe was a better 3 point shooter and everything. I think Jordan’s better than Kobe to but the whole time I was arguing why Kobe was a better 3 pt shooter and I don’t even like Kobe like that and because I couldn’t think of their stats he was talking to me like I was stupid and must’ve not seen Jordan play, $hit was annoying
Anyway anybody else have any debates with someone else like this?

TheWizardParticipantI totally agree. At UC Davis in Chem, I got into an arguement with a guy in my class who was trying to tell me that Kevin Martin was the best player in the NBA. I was like, “all right man, we all have our different opinions.” He obviously had no idea what he was talking about, so I just let him be.

stanford hoopsYea you run into those every so often. It’s understandable when they don’t agree with you because that happens but when they don’t listen to reason or they think they know what’s going through a players mind or entertain the thought of “maybe” it gets pretty sad. Of course both people will think they are right but there’s usually room

IndianaBasketballParticipantI overheard a convo at the barbershop where a dude was saying Dwight Howard wasn’t the best center in the NBA because he was goofy. He said Andrew Bynum was better.
I didn’t even say anything lol…

stanford hoopsWhy does bynum
need another team. He’s perfect where he is. The lakers will slowly tradition into his team by the time he’s in his prime. He’s in a perfect position like when Kobe played with shaq. The team
slowly transitioned into his teambynum is more skilled offensively then Howard but isn’t better. I don’t see any center you can really get into a debate about being as good as Howard except Yao when he’s healthy

sheltwon3ParticipantI hear you on that. A lot of people get so close to a player or team, they will not listen to reason. I deal with this a lot. I remember I made the mistake of saying that Kobe can do everything Jordan can skill wise but better a while back mainly because Jordan can first and Kobe copied a lot of Jordan’s game and is a better 3 point shooter but Jordan was better because of intangibles but skill wise Kobe is better. I got so many minuses. I have actually seen old footage of Jordan and caught Jordan’s later years. Jordan’s stats were good but it was just he would always seem to make the right play that kinda sets him apart from Kobe. Jordan is not a great 3 point shooter but if you needed 3’s he could make 7 or 8 in a row. Some of that is not skill wise or anything you can teach. He just did it and on the highest levels. This does not make him better skill wise than Kobe but it does make him the better player.

sheltwon3ParticipantI have had people say I don’t listen to reason but I give them huge amounts of evidence to support why I said what I said and still it is like you are wrong. I get confused because I am like what are you seeing that has you saying these things. It would be different if they just disagreed because some things I say could go either way because they are so close but they will act like you don’t know basketball because of what you say.
I had a guy want to fight me one time because I said Jordan Farmar sucked and Lakers needed to get rid of him and get someone better. It is about time Lakers listened because Farmar had a few good moments but there are better point guard out there and compared to them, he sucks. Dude went to school with Farmar so he has a bias. I don’t know Farmar and as a Lakers’ fan, i wish he didnt suck because he has potential but could never put it all together and he was constantly getting outplayed on defense and gave you nothing on offense if his shot was not falling unless he got fast break points. Hopefully on NJ he can get more minutes and show more stuff but as of right now i doubt it. I see him at best being a Bobby Jackson type.

sheltwon3Participantbillyk obviously I disagree with you but I would like to know your sources so i can check them out. I have never seen any footage where Jordan had a better post game than Kobe.
Kobe’s mid range game is pretty equal to Jordan’s if not better. Early on in Jordan’s career, he was pretty much AI like. He could get to the basket when he wanted and could make a decent amount of perimeter shots at mid range but he shot a large amount. He was more of a volume scorer but he was clutch. I don’t see anything that Jordan did that Kobe can not do at all. Kobe was doing moves Jordan did not starting doing in him prime when he was young. Jordan would do a lot of stuff that people went wow based on athleticism but Kobe does a lot of that stuff with foot work.
I will say this I know it is debateable but I was just wondering if you had video to compare because when i do get some video that compares both of them doing comparable moves, I will put it up so people can see.

sheltwon3ParticipantI saw both players in their prime and I have seen tape of the young Jordan and he was crossing dudes over and I think he normally shot around 45 to 47 percent i forget right now but I will look it up. sheltwon3ParticipantKobe has been better than Lebron for a while now but since Kobe has a better team and mad injuries, His stats went down but healthy Kobe is better but Lebron did more for Cleveland and I think you will see in Miami where his stats will take a drop and he is not even as old as Kobe and relies mostly off his physical gifts and not actually skill. I am not saying Lebron does not have skills but he relies more on his physical gifts though.

and what did I change. Did you not say rose would het the better of him? And you’re talking rose now correct so that would mean magic in his third year correct? Not even close. Magic kills him. The bulls would have to put someone else on him not that it would matter. Magic out plays any guy checking him on that bulls roster
