Just wondering what you guys think what kind of accolades he would be having right now if he never got injured?

I would think with the rise of Jimmy Butler, and how guys like Joakim put together some fantastic seasons, maybe he might have 1 or 2 championships right now. Probably made every single NBA first team since ’11, won maybe 1 more MVP. This guy was making great strides every year and he definitely had one of the strongest work ethics in the whole league.

I guess some things aren’t meant to be :(. Crazy looking at these highlights and I can’t remember a more exciting player in the league.

Anyways what do you guys think?

If D Rose never got injured he would be Russell Westbrook without Durant eating his shots

I think if Rose never got injured the Bulls would of made the Finals one year knocking off the Heat one of those years but doesn’t gurantee they would of won the Finals against the Spurs.  I also think he would have one more Mvp year totaling 2.

If Rose doesn’t get injured the Bulls beat Sixers and then get owned by the Celtics :D:D

Nah, seriously, it could potentially have countless consequences.

Sixers blow it up a year early, potentially win the Anthony Davis sweepstakes.

Korver stays in Chicago as a key floor spacer.  Asik get’s re-upped as a backup C.  Mirotic comes over earlier due to Bulls dominance.

Thibs rides his starters into the ground still.  Butler emerges as a defensive stopper and his offensive game doesn’t develop as quickly.

Bulls could probably beat the Celtics, and potentially beat Miami.  If that happens, OKC could win the NBA.  James Harden doesn’t get traded.

Bulls v Heat becomes an epic Eastern Conference showdown.  They take turns to take on OKC led by their awesome starting 5: Westbrook, Harden, Durant, Ibaka, Perkins.

LBJ stays in Miami as he still hasn’t won a ‘chip.

about the Sixers point… Phila’s coach (& real GM) Doug Collins put WAY too much stock in that mini-run the Sixers had in 2012… Like you said, Phila Only beat the Bulls b/c Rose & Noah went down in game 1… just to stick w/ the original posters theme, what if Phila loses that series – as they should have…

      – I don’t think they make they join in the 4 team Andrew Bynum trade & they would be Far better off (at least in the short term) They traded their 2012, 2015& 2017 First Round picks & they also lost Nic Vucevic & Andre Igudola…

      – So Golden State never acquires Igudola – the final piece to their Championship team…

      – Maybe the Lakers hold pat & never acquire Howard (who has Never regained his pre 2010 form). I know Bynum still retired but they most likely never make that disastrous Steve Nash trade & as a result would still own that 1st round pick that looks like it will be a Lottery pick…. We still don’t know how this will play out, but that pick which was top 3 protected in 2015 & 2016, b/c totally unprotected in 2018 I believe… either way, we can all agree the Lakers would be better off WITH that pick…

      – Phila would have a decent team of Andre Igudola, Nic Vucevic, Jru Holliday, Thad Young, Evan Tunrer (still can’t believe they passed on Cousins) & w/ that #11 pick in 2012 they would not have taken MCW, they would have wanted length but not at Center – I think they would have taken the Greek Freak…. of course they would’ve drafted later & differently in 2014 & 2015 as well… But that is definitely a better team than what they have today…

      – And what about Dwight Howard & Orlando, does anyone remember if was going to be a free agent the following year? I know Howard was struggling w/ the whole situation.. So he probably waits a year & goes to L.A. anyway…

      – It is Truly amazing how injuries shape the destiny of All pro sports but Especially the NBA……

I believe the Bulls could have made some deep runs. Those Bulls teams were so good when Rose was healthy. And they were doing it without a second star player(No offense to Luol Deng). If you had MVP Rose along with Jimmy developing into the player he’s become. Add on the complimentary pieces they have now. I’m not sure who could’ve grinded out 7 games with them.

Season after his MVP year, they went 32-7 in the regular season with him… Think about that. That’s close to being on pace for a 68-14 season… And that’s without Jimmy becoming the player he is today.

D-Rose would have taken the Bulls very close to a title if not to one if he had stayed sound and played up to his MVP form over the last 4 years.

He would have been a legit top 3 NBA player alongside LBJ and KD. Top FA’s would have had Chicago as a top tyarget given D-Rose’s form and age.

     Here’s the thing:

If Michael Beasley had suffered a devastating knee injury in training camp of his rookie year, we’d be making and reading the same kind of thread about him.

We’d conclude that his mental shortcomings were exacerbated by his injury, and that while he was always a bit of a knucklehead, he still would have had a great career.

Rose doesn’t appear to be respected by his teammates, especially his work ethic.

Perhaps instead of wondering how great Rose might have been without injury, the better question might be how good could Rose be NOW if he had a better work ethic and better intangibles.

Same goes for Greg Oden, who would still be great if he didn’t have terrible intangibles.

    Just like Michael Beasley.

I guess you just started watching basketball yesterday. Anyways you cant exactly have much of a work ethic if you cant exactly play basketball. I’m not sure you know this but Derrick Rose the past 4 years has had a few season ending surgeries, that would kind of stop him from playing basketball…

Dont ever compare Rose and Beasley again either. Beasley hasnt done jack in the league.

It’s unfortunate people like you can’t see what this dude went through and can’t sympathize at all.

According to a source, Jimmy Butler hasn’t been thrilled with Derrick Rose’s ‘work ethic’
        http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/7/71/1018875/according-source-jimmy-butler-hasnt-thrilled-derrick-roses-work-ethic

“According to the source, Butler considers Rose a friend, but “doesn’t have a lot of respect for his work ethic.’’ In Butler’s mind, Rose was considered the face of the franchise, and if the face of the franchise wasn’t busting his butt in practice every day, especially last season, what was the message to the rest of the team?

“We all saw this coming,’’ the source said.”

“It was Butler who grabbed Doug McDermott this summer, and brought him to San Diego to work out. And it’s been Butler that’s been getting all the young guys in the gym for extra work.

Butler is basically all in on trying to become the superstar that Rose has never understood how to be.

“I was fortunate enough, I played with a guy you might remember named Kevin Garnett,’’ Hoiberg said. “He was one of the best. Everyone followed because of the amount of time guys like that put in the gym. It’s not an accident that guys like that are superstars.”

Rose is already focused on becoming a free agent in two years, while lawyering up for a Pill Cosby gang bang investigation.

I think the Bulls wouldn’t of developed all stars like they did in noah,Deng and butler. The Bulls were a one man show when Derrick was healthy. There really wasn’t much offense with out him, no other go to guy who could create his own shots. Don’t get me wrong but the absence of D Rose was a good thing. It made the organization realize they had to ddevelop their players. Since he got injured, the Bulls has had 4 other all stars.  I really feel he has alot left to prove. The playoffs showed he’s still has game . It’s not like he’s not out there getting buckets . I think we are really going to see the Derrick Rose we should of seen coming out of memphis. A all around point guard , and not some one man show the Bulls created him to be. I’m glad he has 2 all stars on his team now and a host of upcoming talent . Something he didn’t have in his good years.

To all on here . I know I don’t post much . But I’m a die hard Bulls fan. I came on here when Derrick got drafted . Even made a custom profile pic of him in Memphis . I just hope for good health. What has kept the Bulls down is health.

Noah didn’t develop with Rose? Or Asik? Or Gibson? Rose is a team player man, he was not like AI, He actually did what he could to get his teammates going, but a lot of stretches they needed him to put the team on his back and pull out a victory.

Anyways a lot of all the players develop was cause of Thibs. However Rose helped some other players out before Thibs got there.

Man, Rose looked SO good in the first game of the lockout season. He had this amazing game-winning floater, he had added so much to his game to build off his MVP year.

He looked so good I was legitimately worried that he might hurt MJs legacy in Chicago as a hometown player and being THAT talented.

I still believe he can be an All-Star and a top 10 player again, but he won’t have a chance to have an all-time career now, unless he really comes on strong for a solid 5 seasons and wins multiple chips.

If he can rediscover his MVP form he’d be a really interesting case for the Hall of Fame, he could be the first MVP not to make the Hall if I recall correctly.
