What if Billups gets a buy out from the Nets or Nuggets?

What if Perkins or Shaq sign with the Heat in the offseason?

 I’m hoping somebody wins the CBA before a lockout that would be terrible.

And I could see O’Neal signing with the Heat in the offseason.  But it kind of reminds me of when Payton and Malone signed to the Lakers and didn’t win anything.

And I don’t think there will be a lockout.. Too much money will be lost on both sides.  They would rather agree on getting a certain amount of money, even if it’s not what they’re looking for, rather than not getting anything at all and going into a year’s worth of debt. 

It’s a card game.. and someone is bluffing.  And someone will fold.

Good, no lockout. 

What if Billups gets a buy out from the Nets or Nuggets?

The repercussions of that would depend on the circumstances of the buyout…the Nuggets aren’t going to buy him out (he’s made it clear he wants to stay in Denver) and if the Nets buy him out, that’ll be further down the road and it will undoubtedly have different implications. 

What if Perkins or Shaq sign with the Heat in the offseason?

That’s what they need, some kind of force in the interior, and even though he might be more injury prone, Perkins has to be the better option IMO. Shaq is nearing 40 and Perkins is still young and one of the fiercest low post defenders in the game. Garnett taught him well.

I think Billups is sort of being overrated right now. He’s regressed noticeably from last year, scoring and assists are both down and he’ll be 35 at the start of next season. I think he would just be a short term solution for the Heat and they probably wouldn’t give him what he’d ask for (the MLE). They need to use that on a big man.
