OldSkoolBasketballParticipantDon’t really need cable when you got internet.
0- Posted on: Wed, 07/08/2009 - 7:39pm #178978
sheltwon3ParticipantI know that and I use the internet but I dont watch any full game on the internet. When i had cable i kept up with a lot of games and was more keen on players and what offense defense a team runs.

IndianaBasketballParticipant25. Jumpsoles are coo, but I’d recommend Air Alert. I’ve tried them both. Air Alert is better because you’re using your own natural body weight as resistance. Air Alert makes you quicker laterally and definitely improves your bounce lol. It makes you so explosive. I did Air Alert during my senior year of highschool and during college. I’m STILL jumping high from it lol. I got my little brother on it now. He’s only on his 4th week and jumping out of the gym!

sheltwon3ParticipantWow all you young guys you have a chance to do something just keep practicing and pushing yourself but always keep your options open. I was going to play on the sophmore team in high school and would be a pretty good role player because i hustle and could jump out the gym but I messed up my knees and never really got back into much after that but it got me learning the game though. I kind of wish i could have added all the knowledge i have now to my younger self. i also have the better basketball dvds and they are pretty good. Jump soles have done alright with me but I have not used them as much now because i ahve not played ball in a year. I will play ball a lot more when i move closer to a gym though.

HaakaanParticipant24. I’m 6’3 with a 6’6 wingspan. I played center at my highschool which sucked having to go against some real giants. My senior year we got a 6’8″ transfer and I made the All Star team playing PF. I didn’t have chance playing any kind of high college ball but I did Walk-on as a sprinter.

dwat4444ParticipantI think im near th youngest. Im 15 and near six feet tall and ive grown 9 inches in just six months so i bet im six two by the end of the summer. Isnt that freeky how fast im growing? I was the shortest kid a year ago now im the near tallest and i love it cuz im the best ball handler and passer too so i freekin dominate. Except i have shitty knees so i cant play a full season. When i play with friends i dominate though
0- Posted on: Wed, 07/08/2009 - 8:28pm #179008
HaakaanParticipantYou’re lucky your growing so fast while still keeping your athletic ability. Most people who grow that fast can barely walk and have really bad growing pains!

Mr.Duke 1426ParticipantI just turned 29 on July 4th.(yes that is actually my birthday) I was able to dunk the end of my 8th grade year(6-0 140) in high school I was nothng special but got a college scholarship to the best engineering school in the country(Missouri Rolla, now known as the Missouri university of science and technology) my junior season I blew out my knee just on a simple lay up. The doctor said I came down on my knee wrong. I had to have microfracture knee surgery and now I just shoot around. I currently work for my uncle as a ceramic engineer and hope to one day assume his position as co-owner of his company.

butidonthavemoneyI’m 18 and 6’1″ with a 6’5″ wingspan. I play basketball a lot but I can’t dunk. Never played on any real team. I’m a point guard but since I play with a bunch of short people I just dominate the post instead.

Mr.Duke 1426ParticipantI forgot to mention at my peak I was 6-3 190. You wouldve been surprised by how skinny I was. But I led rolla in scoring(16.4 ppg) which is not mch but it’s D2 come on what are you expecting?!?! I attempted to come back after my surgery but wasn’t cleared by m docter.

Da1potParticipantI’m 16 5-9 and can grab the rim even though my wingspan is the exact same as my height. I averaged 15 6 6 2 for my club team a year ago. Woud’ve started for my high school team if I didn’t fracture my femur after the second game after I had 10 assists…. I’m an excellent shooter an and underrated passer and I play good perimeter d , too. I decided to play through my injury which was about the dumbest thing I could do. My femur offset my kneecap and caused it to pop out, making me now have a messes up knee ,too. I am fine now but for those guys who love basketball and want to play through serious injury, don’t do it! Just sit it out and come back stronger.

maravich44Participant47. I had to get some sleep. You can laugh at me the rest of today. My verticle now is a matchbook. I was a very good athlete in my day, but jumping was never my forte. Scott42444ParticipantI’m 6’1 and 29 years old. I broke my spine as a sophomore in high school and didn’t play my junior year. Was captain of the football team my senior year and the new basketball coach asked me to play because he liked my “leadership abilities” (and I was in 4 A.P. classes and he REALLY liked that but that really doesn’t translate too much to the court) but I just couldn’t handle all the practicing with my back. Man it hurt. We would practice at 5:00am at the school 3 days a week and 5 days a week after school. Ouch. So, I took the winter off just playing church league basketball (was on the all-star team that played against the varsity for a charity game and won MVP, ha) then played baseball and ran track (21.5 200 meter) at the same time in the spring.
After running track I could dunk 2 handed. Seriously, if you want to increase your vertical join a nationally ranked track team (my 21.5 200 meter was 6th best on the team, which if you know anything about track is pretty ridiculous) and chase fast guys all day with some crazy nutbag coach screaming at you all damn day. I mean it, your quick twitch muscles will just get ripped and you’ll be flying through the air in no time.
Now, last year I had 2 vertebrae fused and a couple of other smaller things done and I’m just starting to play again. I’m like that uncle of yours who can shoot without jumping and just put crazy spin on the ball and make it every damn time. I’m serious, I don’t know where it came from. I think it’s because my back has been injured for so damn long (got hooked on pain killers too, been taking vicodin for over a decade) I had to learn to not use my speed (4.3) and athleticism (dunk 2 hands). Or, it just happens when you get older like your forearms getting bigger and stronger. I always called it old man forearms. It’s that thing that prevents you from ever wanting to beat up your dad.
Just starting to get my athleticism back and I too want to get back up to where I can dunk again before it’s all gone like Sheltwon said. I am having a hard time letting loose though because my back is CONSTANTLY on my mind and I kinda blew off rehab a bit so it’s not as strong as it should be. Plus, with me not being allowed to take any strong pain killers I would be screwed if I stepped funny.

JoeWolf1I didn’t realize were were posting dunk stats,6’2” with a 6’2” wingspan, 4th place in my college’s intramural dunk contest, that was my crowning achievement put back off the backboard, but the dude after me jumped over a ball rack, haha, can’t compete with that, but was All-state track in high jump and don’t have a 35” anymore, but at 27 can still throw it down with one hand, haha, not bad for an old guy
