IknoBall12ParticipantBasketball is such a global sport. There are unheard if and undiscovered players all over the world who could be great. Growing up and watching documentaries I would always hear stories about players id never seen or heard of who were great. You heard about the playground legends that dr jay would play with at the Rucker and there have always been talented guys who never made it whther it was because they got locked up, killed, etc. I was just thinking about all the people in the world and it’s amazing how many people can actually shoot a basketball or jump out of the gym that have never been seen or heard of. I’ve always said the difference between that amazing shooter at the Rec is the ability to crest space or maybe even size. I’ve always felt there’s a certain reason that people don’t make it. With the technology and exposure nowadays I would think that it’s hard to overlook guys anymore. It’s still hard for me to understand how steph curry was never recruited by bigger schools. If anybody understands this rant I’m going on do you have any thoughts. And name any players you heard of that u feel should have made it to the L and why.

DaGuywhodidurmaParticipantThere is only 450 roster spots available in the nba so there will be many talented guys who dont get a shot.

terrancebowerParticipantThese street ballers are playing in leagues with no defense at all against guys who are mostly under 6’6”, many of them have average size and athleticism for a human being, let alone for an NBA player. Also a lot of these legendary (streetball, or international) players don’t play against top competition so it’s hard to judge if they’re actually good or not. Some of these guys are very well known and highly thought of but have games tailored to the european style that would not help them in the NBA.
Having said that, it’s easy to imagine players who would be good enough to go pro right out of high school but aren’t allowed to anymore because of the rule change and can’t get into college because of legal issues or academic reasons. If they don’t get into a lower level pro league right away they lose motivation or work ethic. Or look at Lenny Cooke, he lost his last year of varsity eligibility in high school by staying back too many years and couldn’t play in his final year. He still declared for the draft (’03 I think) but went unselected since nobody had seen him play that year, and he has serious atitude issues. He lost his NCAA eligibility by declaring for the draft and was not a good fit for the international game. If the D league were more developed he might have had a shot.

Kleb2424ParticipantMy only thought on this is I believe pro sports scouting is awful today. And Terrence Williams not in the league helps to prove that point.
