Houston brings back Ariza who played for them a few years ago. He was ok, but tried to do WAYYY too much offensively for the Rockets. He’s much more effective in a supporting role. $8 mil a year is a decent bargain for Houston.

This will probably dissuade the R’s from bringing back Chandler Parsons. But, you ever now what Daryl Morey has up his sleeve. To be honest, the Rockets have been one of the biggest losers so far in free agency. They got spurned by Melo and then sent out their 2015 first-round pick to clear cap space for Chris Bosh who ended up spurning them as well.

To think they had both Lowry and Dragic on their roster just a couple seasons back and now their PG’s are Pat Beverley and Isaiah Canaan.

Also, in other news…the Thunder signed Anthony Morrow – something that they desperately needed, a sharpshooter.

Houston should match the Parson deal. I dont see Morey letting him just walk when he loves to keep assets to try and get star players. Signing Ariza at a cheaper deal helps them so they will be able to try and sign more players to fill out the roster, also it makes Parson expandable. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them match Parson only to trade him later. Maybe make a play for Rondo or another all-star caliber player to complete a big 3 they desire.

There are only two teams that will be willing to pay that kind of money (15 mil) for Parsons…. The Mavs (have to over pay to pry him away) and the Rockets(Have to over pay to keep him).  I don’t imagine with this contract he will be nearly as valued.

This is a steal considering the wizards were going to pay him no more than 9 mil and he was asking for 10-11 close to what iggy got.  He should be able to flourish as a complimentary role player. And most importantly play D which they’re gonna need

Traded away lin and Asik for nothing and had to attach thier own 2015 first rounder.

Passed on some good players on draft night thinking they wanted max cap room to sign Melo (which was a terrible idea all along) and drafted  Clint Capela. A nobody who may never be in a Rox uniform. when they still had some very good american players on board.

Tried to give Bosh the Max and traded awa Lin+1st rounder before they could get Bosh to sign. STUPID FOOLS!!

Let Parsons become a restricted free agent when he could have been a  $1m player next season. So what if his agent pressurred you into releasing him, trade him during the season for something solid! Now Parsons is gonna have a terrible contract on our books because WE WILL MATCH and hope to trade him somewhere. He maybe a good trade chip he might not be, im not sure but that contract is a behemoth for his services. He’s not worth that much, maybe 70% of it.

Signed Ariza  to a long term deal. I like him alot, But hes one of those types that wont care until his contract is up or the team TRULY has a shot at winning. THe lackluster and goofyish mood in Houston is not gonna set him the right way. He will underperform that contract. He would have been better off in Washington for the same money. Watch him get traded in a few years time.

Morey you over-smart, overly-cunning Effin Idiot! We just signed up to lose in the 1st or 2nd round again next year…. ahh.. Well at least we still have Beverly.

Houston’s main problem is that they still run Howard in the low post as an offensive focal point. He has never had fantastic moves because he can’t counter to a fadeaway jumper. So everything has to be power and speed based and getting to the rim or failing that throwing up a hook shot. Now he is just a bit slower and his post play is only a bit above average. This has also resulted in him becoming a turnover machine. That level of offense isn’t going keep up with the Spurs, OKC or the Warriors.

Houston needs to get Howard to accept that he is never going to be Shaq or Hakeem and he needs to score opportunistically (which he will do hyper efficiently on put backs and lobs) and the concentrate on defense. He has to forget about scoring 20 points per game.  This strategy shift is all Houston needs to become one of the top five teams in the league.

Also, I suspect without Asik to back up Howard, their defense is going to be poor whenever Howard has to rest. Asik was expensive. But he helped make up for a lot of defensive problems on the team.
