valentinethey might just be sitting on gold with the lin and asik contracts two capable starters with expiring deals of $30 million next season
that’s whip the slate clean and start over kind of money for most teams
here are a few options they can look at
1. Try to get Carmelo move those players somewhere somehow to either trade or clear space for melo
2.see if Denver is going to rebuild if so they can take some of the huge contracts like danilo, mcgee, chanlder, nate etc …I doubt they can pry away ty Lawson and they might need to include some picks.
3.this scenario is a win win for both teams for sure detriot could move Jennings and josh smith for asik and lin detriot can continue to build around Monroe and Drummond and have space to for 2014 and 2015 free agency.
what do you think Houston should do because keeping lin and asik is something I don’t see
they didn’t ever think they can land howard and harden just happened lin and asik are the odd balls out now.

WITNESS2014ParticipantI feel like somebody might try to work out something for Asik. I dont see Lin being heavily pursued.

mixtape2003ParticipantI think they only way they take on salary is if they get a proven star in return, if not and they can’t swing that than maybe Asik to the Celtics for one of there many forwards.

ballislyfe25ParticipantIf the Rockets wish to pursue Carmelo, they would most likely have to send Parsons, Asik, and Lin along with a few picks to the Knicks in a sign and trade. Parsons would absolutely be a keeper for the Knicks, and Asik and Lin could be kept around for the right price or traded to a contender with some assets to give up later in the season.
Houston should look to keep Parsons out of such a deal, but I’m not sure that’s possible. Parsons generally defends his position well, and although he struggled in the playoffs, he does a better job out on the perimeter than Melo. I would want to get Melo and have him play that small ball power forward spot as a starter with Beverly, Harden, Parsons, and Howard. I’m not sure if they would be championship-level defensively, however, this group would be dangerous on offense. Melo, Harden, and Parsons are great at attacking closeouts and Melo and Harden are as pure of scorers for their positions as you’ll find. Would be interesting but I can’t see Houston keeping Parsons in a deal for Melo. He’s their prime asset a team can keep long term.
