TarHeelRavenParticipantIf you’re looking for one of the worst free throw shooting teams in all of Division 1 basketball, look no further than……the North Carolina Tar Heels. The rank 330th out of 345 teams shooting a scorching 61 percent. Take Marcus Paige’s 92 percent away and they are by far the worst at 54 percent. James Michael Mcadaoo, who I am so fed up with right now shoots the most free throws on the team and hits 55 percent. he has changed his release and from so many times that it is mind-boggling. JP Tokoto shot 4-13 against Belmont and JMM was 5-15. I never thought it was possible to play high level college basketball at a program like North Carolina and not be able to consistently hit an uncontested 15 foot set shot. It is really embarrassing to watch.

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantPretty much nails it. And it’s exactly why I’ll likely be picking the 12/11/10 team to be upsetting them in the first round of the NCAA tourney. No amount of Paige (and to a lesser degree Johnson) being a beast can cancel out how godawful McAdoo (one of the most overrated prospects in the NCAA) and Tokoto are from the line.

antoniom229Participantteams get better. UNC had shot 72% from the free throw last Sunday. So, they are getting better in that aspect. McAdoo had shot 9 of 14 from the free throw last Sunday. Tokoto had shot 5 of 6 from the free throw last Sunday. Meeks is playing great down low. UNC is a very young team and they will get better game by game. It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish!

BrentSuriaga01ParticipantKid has great potential but after that coming out of highschool, it went downhill from there. He gotta get his act together to even be considered a first-round pick or worse play in the NBA.

antoniom229ParticipantIf you are tired of watching UNC, stop watching them! UNC don’t need fair weather fans like you.

TarHeelRavenParticipantIf I was a GM, I would not draft Mcadoo in any rounds. As of RIGHT NOW, I think he would go undrafted.

antoniom229ParticipantHe will get drafted. He is a late first round pick right now. He should have left after his freshmen year. He has a lot of athleticism and once he get consistent, he will be very good. He had a good free throw shooting night last Sunday. So, if he keeps on shooting good from the free throw line, UNC will be in a good position.

ReekoParticipantSince when does Mcadoo shoots it well from the free throw line= UNC success? Can you point to a direct correlation?

antoniom229Participantfree throws is his weakest link. He gets foul a lot so he shoots a lot of free throws. If he makes most of them, UNC will be fine. That goes for the whole team! UNC had lost three games because of shooting bad from the free throw line.

ph90702UNLV has now passed North Carolina. I thought we were the worst. Not anymore. We’re up to 63% and trending upward.

river09ParticipantHow do you get a D1 scholarship without at least being competent from the line? Your physical tools can only be so good..

TarHeelRavenParticipantRiver09, I think Tokoto is a perfect example of that. Although he has improved, coming out of high school he was an elite level athlete and little else. His skills were mediocare for a D 1 college basketball player. How often did Tokoto have to hit an open 15 foot mid-range jumper in high school? Why work on your shot when you can jump over everybody? If he had any sort of jumper in high school he probably would have been a top 10 recruit.
